Hi! So I just got a MacBook Air for Christmas, and I have tried every possible FH download. But every time I go to open it, a pop-up appears and basically says there was an error and it can't be opened. So then I tried the other download (not the Mac one) and it just said FH couldn't be opened. So I don't know what to do. Can someone help?
Thanks!

It looks we have an update!
DOWNLOAD (http://www.mediafire.com/?9xvbnvxq91xn995) ~94MB
Warning: no one has tested this file to work. Use at your own risk!

New features:
- Should be compatible with OS X 10.8.2+
- Wine was updated to 1.5.14
- Option key now works as PC ALT key
- Now FH writes log files. Look at 'Logs' folder.
As usual, I don't know if it usable, have no Apple hardware to test on.

I suggested this to someone else today, regarding running FH on Mac:
I suggest downloading the PC version, then run Feral-Heart using WINE Bottler.
I also read somewhere that the Mac version of the game had many bugs, so you may be better of using Wine Bottler.
You can find it at: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ (http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/)

I've actually been trying to use WINE, & it starts to work but then DirectX (I think that's what it's called) shuts down. I don't know what to do. & I tried both downloads.
-
Ah. Try using WINE again, then go into the FeralHeart directory and find ogre.cfg.
After that, edit the first line and change it to:
Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem
-
Okay, so I just dragged the FH file onto the WINE icon, & the 'Advanced' screen comes up.
I'm assuming I don't change anything & just Install?
But when I follow the steps, this happens:

-
Skip the DirectX install. It will always fail whether your trying to install it through WINE on Linux or Mac OSX. Just continue through the install.
-
It won't let me do that, but now I have all the files installed on my computer but I can't actually open FH.
-
Where are the files installed? May you show me the directory?

This is all I can get into.

Is there any directory called FeralHeart?
Inside of it, there should be multiple folders, such as media, exports, etc plus a few more files.
Also, did you create a shortcut for Feral-Heart?
-
No to both.
Should I re-download it? The Mac version or regular?
-
Try this:
Download the Windows version of FH again, then open it with WINE/WINE BOTTLER and choose "Convert to simple OS X Application bundle."
Go to the Advanced tab, and for template, choose "new prefix."
For program to install, choose the Feral-Heart installer you downloaded, and choose "This is an installer, execute it."
Then, at the bottom right corner, choose "Install."
After that, launch the newly created file and press Cancel for when the DirectX install comes up.
Make sure you create a little shortcut for the dock.
Once it's finished, right click on the Feral-Heart shortcut you made in the dock, and then:
Options > Show in Finder
This should take you to your FeralHeart directory. Find ogre.cfg and do the steps from earlier.
-
Didn't work. Should I direct message an administrator?
-
Wait. Guide me through how you tried to install it the first time with WINE/WINE Bottler.
-
Okay. So once I download it, I go into Finder & drag FHSetup.exe into Applications > WineBottler.
I click "Convert to simple OS X Application bundle," then keep it as "new prefix," & "execute file."
Then I click install, the FH Wizard comes up, I pretty much just click next & then install. Once that's done, DirectX comes up & I go back into Finder & drag the "FeralHeart" icon (it looks like a notepad with two pencils [I think?] @ the bottom) into the Dock.
Then I cancel DirectX, go to the FeralHeart > Go to Finder; nothing happens.
-
Quick question. Does it show up in your launchpad?
Try completely uninstalling Feral-Heart, then launch the installer directly, instead of trying to create an app. Cancel the DirectX install, then try to launch the game.
-
Okay, I'm just going to completely re-download WINE too. Should I get the one for X El Capitan or X Mavericks?
-
X El Capitan, I believe.
-
Yeah lmao I have no idea what to do ;w; Doing this on a HP laptop was a lot easier lol
-
It's alright. Did you install it with WINE directly?
-
Nope. I have deleted everything so far & want to start fresh. ;w;
-
Alright. I guess we'll begin all fresh. xD
First, download the Windows version of Mac.
Then, launch it with WINE directly and install it.
Next, during installation, skip the DirectX install.
Finally, once finished, show me where it installed, then we can proceed.
-
WINE or WineBottler?
-
Just WINE. Open the installer, and it should ask whether you want to launch it directly with WINE, or bundle it as an app.

what do i choose?
-
Run directly.
-
All it did was put a whole bunch of files into "All My Files," but no FeralHeart.
My friend, who already had FH downloaded onto her Mac, is facing the same problem now that she has El Capitan.
-
May I see what the files are in 'My Files?'
Also, take a look at this: http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=3251.0 (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=3251.0)
You may or may not need to install ZQuartz.

Okay, I downloaded it. What should I do?
-
Ah. Those are the FH Files. C:
I suggest you move them all into a separate folder so you can keep it organized. There should be a file called ogre.cfg. May you find it please?
-
Found it, but I can't open it.
-
Open it with a text editor of your choice.
-
& do what you said earlier?
-
Change the first line to this:
Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem
-
Okay! Did that. (:
-
Now, try launching the game and see if it works. Make sure you launch it directly with WINE.
-
I don't know how to do that. ;w; Do I drag the FHSetup.exe into Wine or WineBottler?
-
No, no. Not the setup. There should be a FeralHeart.exe files that you would launch with WINE.
It should be in the same directory with all the other FH Files.
-
So, it opened, & the two intro screens were black & yellow, & when I went to click, FH crashed ;w;
-
Can anyone help? rip
-
I don't have any other ideas. Perhaps it's a problem with El Captain?
-
Not sure. Maybe I should try it with the Mac download instead?
-
Hey Crusoe!
So I tried getting FH on my Mac PC, & it worked fine! But now it just won't work on my MacBook. I'm downloaded Quartz, & I wanted to know if you or anyone else could help me with that?
Thanks!
xo
-
Did you install XQuartz?
-
Yep!
-
Well, not on my Mac, but on my MacBook I have downloaded it.
-
Download it from http://www.xquartz.org/ (http://www.xquartz.org/)
Install the DMG file and you should be good to go.
-
After the whole process all it did was put a "XQuartz.pkg" in the folder, & when I double-click the little box icon, it just wants to download it again?
-
Is there any other places to download FH for Mac?
The mediafire link doesn't work for me. It keeps saying that the connection was interrupted...
If possible, I don't want to have to run a Windows app because my Mac's sort of slow.
-
This is the only Mac download I know of. ;w; http://www.mediafire.com/download/9xvbnvxq91xn995/FeralHeart_mac_1.13_p8.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download/9xvbnvxq91xn995/FeralHeart_mac_1.13_p8.zip)
Either way, if you're on a newer MacBook like me, it might not work unless you can figure out a way through WINE or XQuartz.
