There are quite a few reasons this could happen.
Sometimes people manage to save the original mask files and it changes the feline all together. The preset basically becomes the default mask because people sometimes forget to save it as a preset name or save it in the wrong place. Another issue that people seem to come accross is that it seems to work perfectly on a different Rendering system, which seems to take things back to normal.
Those are two of the most common reasons, but you can always research through the game help section for more answeres if you wish. If what you did now helped you, it will most likely help you in the future if this were to happen again.
