Title: Signature Making Techniques?
Post by: yourlocalcrow on April 17, 2016, 03:33:28 pm
Hey guys! I just was wondering, because I am always wondering something, how do you guys out there in the community go about making your signatures?

I tend to open up a "create thread/response" on anything and create it there, see how it would look, and then copy/paste it into the signature box, see if it's too long, and then edit from there. Does anyone else do that? Or am I just some weird fluke?

It's not weird. I did that once, but mostly I do it for pictures to see if it is there or not.  But that is perfectly normal.

I have done that in the past, myself. Sometimes I will upload the image to my signature but save a copy of the text of the previous signature, in case I need to adjust the size or dimensions of the new signature.

If I'm trying to make a signature which might not go as planned, I usually just mess around with it on my other account so that if I mess it up, nobody will see it. I've never tested it out with previewing a thread, though.

Otherwise I just directly go for it. I don't do any super complex coding in my signature (the most I've done is just a picture as a link, lol) so even if I do mess up, it can usually easily be fixed.

I just tend to type it out directly in the signature box, test it, see how it looks, then tweak as necessary. I like to keep mine fairly simple too. Just my avatar/signature image credits, in-game user and maybe another message regarding something I'm currently associated with.

I just go right for it in the signature box. I never thought of using the preview box before though. I might try that next time.

I always do the same where I open up a new thread or a PM just to get the preview. It has to be perfect before its ready to be pasted into my signature xD But I'm pretty familiar with the coding for the boards so I don't necessarily need to do that, I just like to see a preview before I finalize it.

I've never done this before, but i bet after reading this i will.

If the preview tab thing doesn't lag

Anyway, that's actually a great idea, and I will use it in the future!

When I mess up my signature but I have no backup in a message preview

I hardly ever do that tho, it's too risky. Testing it before using the personal message preview is a perfect choice for me

oh btw I stopped using the reply/new topic preview after something horrible happened... On another forum, it was horrible, I couldn't delete it *depressive music*
