Im done.
Im through with the spamming.
I...I just,want it to go away.
THE 'MATE SEARCHES' INGAME.
Are driving me crazy.
Its annoying,and spams the chat.
Plus children might ask their parents, "Whats mating?"
Its wrong.
Its wrong wrong wrong.
"God people,go on the forums!" I shout.
But you dont listen.
You go all hullabaloo and say, "Nuh uh forums r stupid."
It takes patience and time.
And searching.
You spam every single chat thats public.
"I'm looking for a mate" "Im looking for a mate"
GOD.
Im through.
But I have an idea.
Why dont we have a filter chat that blocks the word 'mate'?
The type that blocks all the bad words?
The mods dont do anything.
They just sit there.
Im through with it.

I understand where you're coming from. The FH community can have it's inappropriateness sometimes. The best thing to do would be to screenshot them and report them if they are bothering you. ;3
I do see the mods doing their duty. A lot. They're doing their best to make the community better. ;)

Now how about instead of whining and crying over stupidity, take a screenshot and report them.
The only thing more pointless than trolls, spammers, beggers, etc - are people like you that make threads like these instead of just clicking block/reporting.
Try contributing that way to help make the community better instead of crying how about it, or just leave.
We don't need anymore threads like these.

Just as I would have said it Sly :3. and by the way, this isint wolfquest. A filter probably be put in place, FH has freedom, some use it others abuse it. Do something about the abusers :)

Yes, spam and all of that isn't fun, at all. (The way you typed I'd partially consider spam. Would it have killed you to type it out in paragraph form or otherwise not type a few words every other sentence and space it down? It wasn't needed, thank you.)
But, Slycan put it very well.
Also, remember this is the Internet, these kind of things will be everywhere. Sure, should we sit here and just accept it? No. Is it annoying? Yes.
But a filter, the kind meant for curse words (I see a filter for curse words in FH as a big no, in my opinion. Although maybe a minor one wouldn't hurt considering I've seen some fairly bad language :/) just to block the word mate is not the answer. The answer is find the user, and block them on your in game block list. Or just filter the chats you want to listen to or not.
Due to a (sadly) lack of dimensions (We will not discuss this here, folks, not the place), you can't just skip to a different dimension and avoid the spam. Go to another map (I know, so horrible. I understand if you don't want to, but we've really not much of another choice, that or log out and take a nice walk, that works too.)
I'm sorry if you thought your post would have created some sort of.. big change in things here, but posts like these and complaints happen a lot, and we, and the staff, do what we all can to just deal with it. ;/
I don't know how the in game moderation works, but from what I hear it isn't the best so far? Either way, I'd just leave the staff to do their job, or if it is such a trouble, contact a forum administrator about it.

Children should not be on the internet. As well as, If the parent was SMART, they would not let there child on the internet as well as just tell them a mate is a strong relationship you have with someone. HERP A DERP PLZ!
If you dont know, In chat u can click there name and click block. People these days are to lazy to click anymore. But Oh well, If your done, your done. Im sure not gonna stop you. C:

Yeah, I agree... I used to be an avid WQ user when the only words they blocked out were 'swear words'. Now I hear they are going to block out every single word, and came up with (a rather short) list of words... including "howdy, hi, bye, hello, hola" and all of that random stuff, just because some people wanted to rp with having mates... because they have mates in single player, I don't get why the team had to block so many words that are in the game itself already... it's not inappropriate.
I think it's funny how if you spell something wrong, you have to retype the whole rp paragraph you so detailed wrote out... haha -.- no, not funny at all. They had to block out mate, mates, mat, and mit, since the users came up with different words for mate like the mat. Rediculous. The team has gone a bit haywire and too baby friendly. Nobody cares if an 8 year old sees the word: idiot or something. Get of the internet.
Anyways, back on topic. Exactly what Sly basically said, and use block, and turn off any chat you don't like with spam... or just IGNORE IT. I'm sure nobody will notice lol. =S

I think you should report those who are annoying you, even though I don't think it would help much. You can't tell people what to do, the best thing you can do is just ignore them, like I do. :)

Rofl, nah. Mate isn't really that bad of a word either. I don't know about you guys, but I knew what it was about far before I was 13 because of watching nature documentaries and similar things. I believe other people find out about it even earlier nowadays.
Sorry to say this, but it will always be there and you would have to get used to it. If it's driving you so crazy I'd really suggest you going into a private map or try another game.
Censor the words would be taking it to the extreme, but if there somehow was a setting that would let you censor whatever words you'd like everyone would probably be happy. But I personally would be more annoyed at seeing sentences without structure or **** all the time instead.
If you mean general spamming overall I can agree, it does get annoying, but the worst spamming is usually spotted by mods I believe, but just because they exist doesn't mean they can be at every corner of a map.
And I personally think that no dimension is the best way. Been through this before, and the only valid reason why people should have dims would be because of lag, cause sometimes people experience it like unplayable. But reasons like, spam, annoying people, and no privacy as a reason, doesn't cut it in my eyes.

The best thing to do about spammers, trolls and perverts is to take a screenshot of the offender(s) (using "Print Screen") and send it to one of the moderators.
The thing about filters is that people get frustrated when they can't say something. Games like WolfQuest have been ruined due to chat filters. Granted, people shouldn't swear or talk about mates/mating so often, because it causes trouble. But just as Teal Skeletore has said, no way is putting a chat filter in going to help the game as much as it's gonna' hurt it.

The word "mate" isn't used just for mate searching. You can be introducing yourselves to a group, and be like, "This is my mate, (whoever)" Also, the Admins and Mods that work hard on this game, added a block button for your convenience. Use it. Or just learn to ignore them.

anyway...
yes, mate beggers are stubborn lil fellas... had been experiencing it. the word "mate" doesnt need filtering though.. not here.
this is a game where you can curse your lungs out at them to leave you alone.
another thing: blocking/reporting isnt as easy. and its pretty annoying to do, considering that you have to find that lil point on the char where you can open up their bio, and actually report them... (the glitch where you-click-on-the-names-and-a-completely-different-bio-comes-up is still there..)

Some words in particular should be filtered out. The really NASTY words... you know what I mean. I have seen people using the eff word quite a bit and it is NOT appropriate in a game attractive to young people.
There will always be people running around "humping" others as long as there's the buttswing action, and talking about rape and mating, and I don't like it as much as you. Mods can't be everywhere at one time and I'm sure they are doing all they can. Instead of whinging about them doing nothing we as players can HELP them by printscreening these offensive people and/ or reporting their behavior.

maybe open a thread on general discussion, and paste in there the pic of every such incident.
1. we can see how extended the problem is
2. we can block these ppl on sight
3. we know who not to play with.
ppl wont add filter here. (saying this is not supposed to be for children under 13... but rules say other wise, as it does point out that ppl under 12 age play this game so keep the language clean... or something on that line.)
buuut
i dun care anymore anyway.. if we talk about filters, the first thing ppl will do is say stuff about a certain game...
lets have them have their own way o.O

I'm completely against a public thread that openly bashes or indicates or otherwise asks people to ignore/block any user in game. Whether or not they did something bad, it's public humiliation, and no one deserves that at all. If you see a problematic user, you report them to the staff. If you have friends, and you know this person's username, suggest to your friends via PM or and IM'ing service that you're on to block said user, but don't encourage the full of a community to public humiliation. It may seem like the right thing to do, bringing the faces of rule breakers to the public eye, but that isn't the way to go about it, and I hope this isn't ever done. :/

Spamming is easily solved by blocking a person, which you can either do by clicking them on the chat, or manually. Take a screenshot and send it off to a mod, and then they'll stop annoying other people, but for yourself use the block. You're simply making the game worse for yourself by not using the feature given to you for preventing spam. I use it all the time, especially for "lokin 4 wlf rp" people.
Filtering words is not an option on a roleplay site. You block the word "mate" you'll just get people spamming "Looking for Partner/BF/GF/Female/Male/Significant Other/Husband/Wife" A word filter is easy enough to get around, there is no point having one here. Besides, do we really want to encourage people not spelling the whole word? Illiteracy on the internet will not be helped by word filters, trust me.
And don't disrespect the mods. They work very hard to deal with problems you don't even see, because they are doing their job. If the mods had a simultaneous holiday, FH would implode. You can help them by screening and reporting. You know, a feature offered to you to reduce this spam problem you've been having?

just pointing it out again:
clicking on names rarely work. they show me in 98% of the time a random persons page. this makes easy reporting and blocking an annoying try-to-click-on-the-right-spot-on-the-char ritual.
such threads about spamming and this will go down once its actually fixed, and ppl can easily block/report.

Mate beggers, me I usually just ignore them. And actually the thing that really bothers me is the bad cursing/inappropriate words. Now mild cursing I could care less, I do it every day, but just because I'm an adult doesn't mean I like seeing eff this eff that, other offensive curses and sexual crap ever other sentence. I've seen it at times too. >:( I usually just leave though.
Maybe I'll start taking screens a reporting... problem is everyone has their opinion of what's too far and what's not. What I may consider offensive, other may not; so it's hard to figure out what should be reported and what would just end up being considered more 'spam'. :-\ Anyone else think this way?
As for a word filter, I say no, unless you can choose your own words. Mate should not be filtered though, as it comes up in regular conversations everyday.
!Also there's a glitch currently that you CAN'T click on the name in the chat anymore! You get a different person's info. ::)

Well, for all those who hate WQ bashing, thats really something you cant get away from on this site. Since half the community seems fed up with WQ's ridiculous chat rules. (I am too and thats the reason I dont play it anymore) I get offended when people bash my fav games but hey, we're all intitled to our opinion and if we dont like WQ we dont like WQ. Nothing we can do about it. You like what you like and you dont like what you dont like.

I honestly dont see how its public humiliation. People humiliate themselves by excessive swearing, spamming and of all things CYBERING. People are blocked for a reason, but that doesnt mean the whole community will block this one person for whatever. Its only public humiliation in my eyes when a random person who was offended by said user comes here and yells the username to the whole world and bashing and whining about what this person did to wrong them. We have a block button for a quantity of reasons. If your being bullied or offended in anyway, or simply because your tired of spam or being harassed.
Now, my opinion on this thread in general.
Dude. I despise how horrid and disgusting this community has become. Ive said it many, many times. And its been said before me, IT was not this bad. But as said to me, FH is not IT. Its just the same community, more people. More idiots as in, godmodders, spammers, trolls. But also we have a variety of new people that actually HAVE some common sense and sanity. I'd have never met Wudiin, or Kyugima, or Sly if I had left the community over something stupid like mate begging and godmodding. They're all interesting people that I would be an idiot for leaving behind.
These problems that we have here will NOT be solved by blocking any word used. Theres always a way around filters. Which is why they're useless! People will always find a way around. Always, always, always. Unless you block every interactive, interesting word like WQ has. Then you'll end up with bland sentences like "The wolf sat by the lake." or "I am hungry and I will go hunt now." And God help you if you misspell a word! I'd never speak a word of FH AGAIN if it ended up that way.
Thats why I say no no no no NO, to filters. Block/ignore and my friends has gotten me through ALL of the shizz this community has to offer.

I like how this is still going. Now we are just spamming each other in this topic. Though I don't really mind it much.
As for the filters, like I said in many topics. Filters when not done right can make a Horrible Malti-game. I sure know one that went down hill from them. The Only filter I can See in FH is Your OWN filter. But I dough that right now. Once again as I said on this and many other topics.
@Leo Pardus: When you said people will hump others even though there is the buttswing dance. Thats kinda wrong. People can still do it with sitting then standing over and over. As well as headbang dancing. Just pointing that out seeing im bored right at looking at a download that has been on 5% for 1 hour. *cough*

And on the filters. Like so many wise people have said before me, I doubt the team would want to spend every week updating the filter, because we all know what happens when a word is blocked. People find one work around after another, till we can only speak like half cohearent(sp?) 5 year olds, which is never good for a roleplaying game as other have stated, and some people (like myself and many other people I've roleplayed with in -game) have characters whom curse. If you don't like it, and it's bothering you THAT badly, quit being lazy and type their username into the block list, don't whine about 'But i cant clik thr name!!!!11!' that's just being lazy people.
This game gave us freedom.. I wish people would use that in a responsable(sp?) way.

It isn't all about laziness, since the chat system displays their character's name, and not their username, you cannot block them unless you go out looking for them to find out what their name is. In local chat it usually isn't too hard, but when someone is spamming the whole damn map you may have problems. I typically switch to local chat only when spamming is annoying me, and block people who get close enough.

Esc > Options > Interface > General Or Local > Select User name, or both.

aye.. and "the whole damn map" is really just as long as the name tags are visable. Everything outside that zone doesn't show up on local chat. And everyone outside that zone still showing up on chat is either using the general chat or group. That means you only have too look in the area around you.

i dont know the real extent of the problem or how bad it can be, as it only happened to me 2 times... maybe we do need such a thread to see how bad it actually is... we can only speculate.
@Wudiin and others i forgot:
basically the chat-displays-anothers-page thing is not only a problem at reporting and blocking.... but actually find someone to join a group who advertised, you see an interesting name and want to read the bio or actually just the bio of someone beside you... i somehow always click wrong on the chars...
it would be awesome if it would work again... it would make many things easier.

On from that now...
I think putting a censor on the word mate is ridiculous... censor something as silly as mate and your opening up the world of FH to a whole other world of ridiculous censoring.
And how in the world would censoring the word mate help any way? It would make it worse in my opinion. Just imagine walking around and someone comes up and goes "do you want to be my ****?" There are a whole bunch of words that you could put there to make it worse. Most of them swears XD mostly the F word and the female dog word XD
Plus, people would still mate beg. the mate begging will be full of consoring, but they're still begging. That will stop it in any shape or form. In fact, people will just rage that the word mate got censored. And then we would have a whole bunch of people raging at each other. then this whole place would turn into the rage warzone. And unfortuantly you would be in the middle of it all (This is a worst case scenario, probably will never happen, but it could XD)

Alright, alright. Enough with the WolfQuest stuff. This subject has been brought up enough and it needs to END, it is off-topic anyway. As much it is fun to keep repeating the same thing over and over to a user that probably will never read these Messages, I think this topic has been covered.
Is it possable for an Mod or Admin to lock this. Many Points have been crossed, I don't want to see this turning into an off-topic fight or just something stupid, seeing its already spammed.
The Person should get the message now, If they don't like it Leave, as well as block.

It's more than possible. And I'm not sure if we need to fall in on this WQ vs FH topic again. Better to lock it down. As mentioned, there's not much more you can get out of this thread.
