Title: More Mac Help?
Post by: UnwiredEscape on June 11, 2016, 04:26:09 am
 Dear FeralHeart Staff and Community,

I read over Raz's instructions on how to upload this update on a Mac, and everything went well. However, when I went to go open the game, I was immediately stopped by a pop-up that mentions theres a program error.

I have tried to redo the process, and alas it will not work for me. Maybe I'm missing a beginning step? Or maybe something totally unrelated. Thank you so much to the FH team for working so hard to get everyone up and running.

Cheers,
  UnwiredEscape.

Not sure quite 1OO% but maybe Mac will still have some issues running the game.
Maybe try running the game as an administrator and see if that helps?

Just to confirm you installed Xquatz?
if the answers yes.

In the last step of my guide there is a configure button.
Click that and on the next screen by wine version is should say system (this might be different as I dont have a mac)
next to that is a +
press it and you should see a list of versions on an x86 tab.
add version 1.8.2 to the list on the right.
install that if it asks about addons you don't need any just hit cancel.
then swap the version on the page before to 1.8.2
ok that
it might ask about closing applications choose yes
then try running it again
if that still doesn't work repeat these steps with 1.9.12.

If all that doesn't work go back on configure
then at the top it has install components if you scroll down the list you will find d3dx9 and a load starting with that.
Install those
theres also a directx9

Please let me know what fixes if for you so I can update the guide.
If none of these fix it which version of OSX are you running.
And I'll see if I can think of anything else.

Hi, I've been lurking on this thread for a little while. I'm a El Captain (against my will) Mac user. I've been locked out of FH since my laptop was updated. I followed the Mac/Linux Setup steps carefully, checked for duplicate files and all that. I encountered the same problem after installing, Wine tells me theres been an error that forces it to close.

I have xquartz installed.
I don't actually have the options to install 1.8.2 OR 1.9.12 versions so I skipped that. I went straight to installing d3dx9.

I ran the program and got the error message (I ignored it), but FH OPENED! I can't tell you for sure it worked because I installed d3dx9, but thats the only thing I did differently this run.

Ha, now I just have to connect to the front server! Wish me luck, I hope this helps other users.

Alright, im also on El Captain

And neither of the 1.8.2 or the 1.9.12 versions show up for me either. I installed d3dx9 and that didnt work. I also downloaded the directx9 and that didnt work either. Im still messing with it, but thought id give you an update.

@Daiske Next to wine version you have system and next to that is a button with a plus on it. what do you get if you click that you should have a list of wine versions to install?
