Title: Map of the Year! {Suggestion}

So, yeppers and peppers! i'm here to suggestion this:

Ever since we got the update, we were totes hyped about the new maps, right? Well, now that we can have updates... What do you think about a YEARLY CONTEST?
There'd be a contest where everyone can make their maps, of course, there would be a size limit as it would be pretty laggy, staff or members could pick their favorite map and the best map is added in a "christmas" or any other festive day of that year to come with an update.
The contest could have a theme, for example, we don't have ANY sandy maps, so this years theme could be... A desert? next year a icy cave and such, i think it's a interesting idea, don't forget to drop your opinion in one of the posts below! I'd like to know your opinion.
By the way; the prize could be basically anything, up to the winner.

 Hmm, this seems interesting. It'd be similar to the preset contests, I assume.
Nice idea, floof. Wonder what other members think of it.  ^^

Oh like we could even do it with themes and such!! I love this idea, but what would we do for second and third place?

Sounds interesting! Like the way you think, but this can come with issues

The new maps were carefully organized and placed in a way where the terrains and climates make sense (notice the stepping stones to and from Lonely Cave and Seaside? Notice how when you travel "north", like to Cherika, the maps get a "colder" feel to them?). If we were to have some sort of contest, we'd have to make sure that they continue to make sense ("the portal must be in this corner of the map" or "include twin peaks over there" etc), which may cause users to lose their map-making freedom. Or, some users may ignore this and that can cause issues as well

If we did fall through with this and a new map was placed in every year, I'm sure people would miss last year's winner map etc and be pretty upset about losing it. Not that there's anything wrong with this, but it could cause more unnecessary drama

With the different themes, there are ideas that there will possibly be snowy maps etc in future updates, if we have any

As I said before, this does sound like a nice idea but I think it could cause lots of issues as time goes on especially when there are already ideas of new maps

This actually does sound very neat in it's own way. I would actually enjoy a map contest. Maybe not to actually have them put in the game when if you win, but get some kind of recognition like the Preset contests? Just my thoughts.

Maybe instead of choosing to add it into the game, we could make it an optional download and feature it somewhere?

Slightly like MOTS but Map Designs of the Year or something?

I dont know just a thought. That way if members wanted to download it, they could, and if not then they do not have too?

More power to the people? Haha idk.

I actually really like that idea. We give love to presets, and members, but never to maps. And we all know how hard they can be to make.

Sounds like an awesome idea! Though as stated above, there might be some issues with it. Maybe to fix those issues, the winner's map could be put up for like an optional download by the staff instead of including it in a new update. But still sounds like a really fun idea!

Seems interesting. Not sure if it would be entirely effective with the cohesiveness of the maps (as Kiki was explaining), but a good idea nonetheless.

Well as I previously mentioned, the big issue is if it goes a different direction from the game. If it was specifically an optional download and not part of the download. The other issues would be assessing the maps, but if it was based on theme and creativity ect... This could end up being a great way to expand the community and get more people to be more involved in the game.
