Title: How to properly convert replacer meshes for FH mods?
Post by: Skullfrost on June 13, 2016, 05:19:25 pm
So, I've been trying to pull off a cat ears replacer, and, well.... it didn't exactly go well. xD I completely messed up the skeleton somehow and created... this monstrosity...:

I'm assuming it's an issue with the skeleton importing incorrectly, seeing as the bones are... kinda all over the place. So... could anyone who makes animation/mesh replacer mods give a sort of tutorial on how to do this, what Blender version you use as well as the import/export(theres a few different ones but I can never find the one that works properly x.x), and how to pull it off?

I assumed you would import the original mesh file into Blender, then remesh it and reweight it to the skeleton, and just re-export and replace the skeleton and mesh files in the main folder.

...apparently that's now how it works, if my demon hellspawn creation is anything to go by.

Seriously, is there anyone who can answer this? I'm pretty sure there are plenty of FH modders around...

There's no need to bump your thread multiple times, hon. If you are patient, I'm certain a few people will find your thread and try to give you a bit of assistance. It may take some time to understand what's going wrong with your issue, so there is not much point in trying to rush people to assist you.

I believe there are a few tutorials about modding and animation in the Members Tutorial Boards, so perhaps you'll find something useful there.

Whilist i've converted meshes for IT, i'm sure it works the same here.

Blender Version: 2.49 Click (http://www.oldapps.com/blender.php?old_blender=6)
Ogre Exporter: Click (http://www.ogre3d.org/tikiwiki/Blender+Exporter)
Python: Click (https://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.2/)
And OgreCommandLine Tools: Click (http://adf.ly/246619/http://www.mediafire.com/download/ccsjzezzsd883vv/OgreCommandLineTools.zip)

Not sure if there are any WORKING exporters for newer blender versions yet, being as I haven't had much time to test them about. Hopefully this will work for you.
If you need any assistance, hit me up and i'll see what I can do.

That's exactly what I'm already using.

Hmm. It might be the blender file skeletons. I'll sneak around for an importer to see if I can find one. That might fix the issue.
