I tried searching for a post with "map" in the name but I couldn't find one posted later than 2011... But maybe I'm blind. Long story short I'm kinda a noob and I'm trying to get a map I downloaded to work. I downloaded the map and put all the files inside in the locations I was told to, out of their folders. (I remember reading somewhere that putting them in folders stops the game from reading them?) I tried to go in the game to Distant Worlds (I think that's the name- again, I'm fairly new.) and I couldn't find a portal anywhere- but then again I'm not really sure where to look, so even though I swear I looked everywhere I might have missed it.
It's an older map, so could that be the reason? Or did I do something wrong when I installed it? If I could have information on where the map portals show up that would be nice too, just in case it is working and I just overlooked it.

First of all, double check that it isn't there. Because the portals in the update are extremely faint and can be hard to see. ^^
If there is indeed no portal, double check to make sure everything went into exports as it should have. If the portal still doesn't work, try moving the portal .fhm(?) file into textures. I had to do that once, and it was the only way the portal would show up. Don't hold me to that and correct me if I'm wrong. ^^'
Edit: And another thing. Make sure that after you have installed the map correctly to completely restart your game. Just throwing that out there.

Also, make sure you actually placed a portal in the map ^^

Thank you for such a quick reply! I'm going to check again now. If you dont mind me asking, where do some of the first portals show up? Are they on the little platforms at the beginning or do they show up somewhere on that long platform at the end? Or somewhere else?
Edit: What does it mean to place a portal in the map? How do I do that, exactly? :0

The portals will show up beyond the arch in Cape of Distant Worlds. ^^
As for you question about what Hakumi said, if you made the map yourself, make sure you actually put a portal in the map leading back and forth between Cape and said map.

Thank you! I ended up finding the map. The texture for the portal wasn't there, or if it was it was VERY faint. I saw the text for the map pop up and I had to walk around that area quite a bit to enter it, but it was there. Thank you so much for the help!

Yes, the portals are rather transparent, but hopefully we will be able to edit them a bit in the future. Have fun and good luck! Locking this topic since the problem is fixed. ~
