I don't know why, but I am extremely fond of sparkle characters or wolves. I am actually generally curious how people feel about them because-- from what I know --not that many people like them.
-
I have no problem with them. Everyone is creative, and likes doing there own design, even if its not realistic to some people. Lots of people stereotype them saying they are not literate, but some are. Personally I think people with sparkle characters look great, and are very creative. People should just let them design what they want. If someone hates sparkle characters they should just ignore them.
-
I have no issues with sparkle characters, sometimes they are trolls but not all of the time. I mean, it doesn't really bother me and sometimes people just do it out of creativity. Again, let people create the characters they want as long as it's not inappropriate.
-
I don't mind the sparkleh floofs. They're pretty interesting to look at and it's nothing that you normally see everyday, Lol.
-
I think if done right, 'sparkle' characters can actually look very nice. If you can match the colours right it can turn out rather beautiful, I love the kind of creativity that goes into those characters.
While I am personally fond of matching together natural colours in a design, I am equally, if not more fond of adding in some simple unrealistic colours, as is evident with my OC Kiaz, and a few others such as Andreas and Zala. I personally love to add a lovely flash of bright colour.
I don't really have much care for the poorly thrown together 'sparkle' characters, I don't mind them being there, but I'm not overly fond of them. It's fine for people to make those characters, no one can stop them, but I don't pay them any mind.
But yeah, if done right, 'sparkle' characters can look equally amazing as any realistic design!
-
If they are honestly being sparkle characters because of just how pretty they are and the fondness for them, that is wonderful. The ones that are trolls....not a big fan to be honest.
-
I think it's very creative ;D
It would get very boring seeing nothing just the same three colors.
-
As someone who has several "neon" sparkle-esque characters, I actually really enjoy seeing what some people can do with a variety of different vibrant colours!
I enjoy seeing all sorts of designs, but the brighter ones tend to draw my eyes, and my attention, more.
I'm not saying natural-toned characters are bad either- far from it! I love the earthy toned characters almost as much! It's just when you start seeing so many, they all kinda start blending together imo...
I'd love to see more brightly coloured characters around FH! <3
-
Well, considering my main avatar is purple/teal/neon pink, I can't really complain about colorful characters. XD I love to see when people are creative and thoughtful with their characters. Can't say I like every sparkle character, as everyone has their own tastes and opinions, but as long as they're creative and made nicely then I don't have much of a problem with them.
-
I sparkle all day and night darling.
but really though if i find some decent enough colors, you betcha im gonna use them and make a sparkle character.
-
Well in my opinion, the design of a character should reflect the personality. And if people have outrageous looking characters with colours flowing about everywhere then I can make the assumption that the character has a very cheerful, excited personality! I have no issues with sparkle characters whatsoever, my only pet peeve about it is when some of them think it's fun to annoy the floof out of everyone they meet.
-
It really depends...
As said above, some are just random trolls who do it really just to bug your eyes.
Then there's people who actually make their OCs and whatnot with 'unrealistic' colors, I don't know, maybe some are custom species so it's normal for them, but as long as they actually RP properly, I have nothing against them. Not, you know, I ma queEn of al elemenetes!11 uendrworl and haeven, ther4 I am OP11!1 pOSSesS E vERYTHING!111 and look like an unicorn! (I'm actually fine w powers lol, just not ones who abuse the living days out of them)
I don't know what to say about neons, though... I mean, as long as they don't make it so that your eyes rot away... (In that I mean neon body, neon markings, basically neon everything... Basically the trolls.) then it's fine, like markings, eyes, etc.
-
They aren't bugging anyone, so no. Everyone can choose who they wanna be as long as it doesn't affect anybody in a harmful way.
-
All of my characters are sparkle characters.
I have no problem with them - and I think they're more creative than "realistic" characters.
-
That depends. Do you mean characters that just have bright/unrealistic characters, or actual sparkle dogs?
If the former, I have no issue with them! I think they're creative actually
BUT, if you mean the obnoxious neon coloured sparkle dogs? Yeah, I can't stand those. They hurt my eyes DX
-
I was sitting in Grounds the other morning and was accused of being 'A Noob' because my Taizer character (as you can see in sig) is not exactly a natural looking beastie. (I'm not a noob by any definition of the word, or I hope not anyway.)
But personally I really like sparkle characters! Shows imagination with colors, but however there is a fine line between good working pallets and ones that out right clash and are painful to look at, but most seem spot on with looking good with complimenting colors.
The only really eye burning ones I've seen were ones created to deliberately mock people who own sparkles. (The mocks tend to be such vicious shades of yellow and pink neon etc and you might need sunglasses to look at them.)
As for how they RP the character in terms of personality, well it really depends on the player! I've met some pretty cliche and 'mary sue ' type characters who were perfectly natural realistically colored wolves and I've met absolutely brilliantly back-grounded 'sparkle' characters who were not that cliche at all.
But I think everyone has at least one sparkle character they made at some point, even if they don't tell anyone about them. \ovo/
-
I honestly dont mind them. I sort of love seeing what colors people put together, because Orange and Blue are fab together.
Anyway, I actually have an overly bright character, that isnt a wolf or on the game, and I love her dearly.
I will admit that some make my eyeballs hurt from staring at them, but I am ok with this.
-
"Sparkle" characters can be really nice if they have a good color palette and aren't eye-blinding- it's all about decent color usage. They aren't inherently less creative than natural-colored characters (and vice-versa).
-
I'm a huge fan of making characters with unrealistic colors and features. I'm also not sure what you mean by eye blinding, but I probably have one of those omg. One of my characters that I love a lot is bright pink/cyan and I love him. I was told a bunch of times people liked his design, so maybe not,
But in general I'm just a sucker for pink dogs and magic and especially bright designs. Idk.
-
I agree with most of the things previously said. They can be (and have been) done right, and look nice. As long as someone isn't using a "sparkle character" for trolling purposes, then by all means, more power to them.
-
Been about 5 years since my last time actually playing, just got done now. Honestly, the "sparklecharacter" (I remember back when it was called something else...) debate itself just makes FH feel so unique. Such a nostalgia trip, right out of the game, into this! I have always been fine with them.
-
That depends. Do you mean characters that just have bright/unrealistic characters, or actual sparkle dogs?
If the former, I have no issue with them! I think they're creative actually

Hmmm... I was leaning towards actual sparkle dogs, but this can also include "bright/unrealistic characters."
-
Not bothered, some can look amazing! Others look tacky or lol. One was made as a troll (who didn't break the rules or anything) & he was really quite funny. Wish he'd come back, he was pretty amusing.
-
I don't necessarily see anything wrong with them. As a matter of fact, I think they can be quite gorgeous at times.
-
To me sparkle characters are just fine c: they're pretty if 'done' right and this community is filled with a lot of talented artists. I wouldn't be surprised to fall in love with it. xD
Now neon colors are an issue with me (semi) o3o
-
I have no problem with sparkle wolves, I used to have a sparkle wolf character but eh, be creative and do what you want, they are your own characters! c:
-
Same as most above. Honestly I'm quite fond of them and it makes me go in awe when I see them because I have trouble making bright, "sparkly" characters. I usually end up with darker tones.
-
ive made few sparkle puppers in my past when i was younger and had no idea what realistic colors where-
but every once and awhile its fun to get creative and make on, or just see them running around on feral heart
-
If they are honestly being sparkle characters because of just how pretty they are and the fondness for them, that is wonderful. The ones that are trolls....not a big fan to be honest.
Yeah I know what you mean, the ones that troll tend to make characters that hurt my eyes. Bright yellow, blue polka dots, bright pink mane, not really a fan of them, but if they make a character that has multiple colors because they like those colors, or just plain unnatural colors, then I'm perfectly fine with that. I used to have a a blue wolf that had bright green markings on it, and that was back in the beginning when I didn't role play or anything like that and just liked hanging with my friends. (Still prefer to just hang with my friends) but I made sure to tone it down so it wasn't too bright, and I used these colors because I liked it. It all really depends on why the person created the character and if they're courteous of everyone else.
-
Admittedly, I'm not so fond of them. I mean, I'm ok with people who have them, but I personally don't like the concept.
I suppose that it's just the neon colors clashing, and to people with sensitive eyes or astigmatism (I have both), it can be painful to look at them.
I do like dark red/blue/purple bases, with the right markings or non-clashing color scheme, but other than that ehh.
-
I mean, considering most of my characters are incredibly unrealistic and quite a few have some unnatural colors on them, I'd be a hypocrite to say no. I don't like full on neon characters (like the types often seen used for trolling and such), but I do like having neutral colored characters with unrealistic colored markings (like my character Negative with a brown base and green markings, or Ryjal with a grey base and blue markings). And occasionally I'll have the character with an unrealistic base color as well. And honestly, there's only so much originality when you stick strictly to realistic colors and markings, especially within Feralheart.
I see nothing wrong with sparkle characters, just as long as you don't make the colors... too bright. Make your character how you want to make them! I'm not gonna go around being the Character Police, lol. If you want to make your character realistic, go for it! If you want to make them unrealistic, go for it! Character designs can tell you quite a lot about a person, and I like seeing how different people use different colors to create their characters. So yes, I do like sparkle dogs.
