Title: Launching Failure
Post by: Germinator on July 09, 2016, 09:25:29 pm
I've tried both the downloads and even uninstalled the old FH and tried the downloads again. My game wont even launch before it crashes on me. I don't know what to do. I have Windows 10. I haven't downloaded any markings or maps. I really want to play, but I can't. Please help!

Maybe try changing your rendering system. Also try running as administrator.

How do I change my render system? And what would I change it to?

I tried changing the rendering several times, but it still wont give me the option. I don't have any double particles, set all my characters to default, ran the game under administrator. Nothing is working. I shouldn't be missing files, right? And my internet is perfect.

Try changing it through your ogre.cfg file located in the main FeralHeart folder. The first two lines should look something like this:

Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]

This is what mine is set to. If yours looks like this, change the OpenGL to Direct3D9. If it's Direct3D9, change it to OpenGL and see if that will help.

Neither of the rendering systems work. :|

You may just have to do another clean reinstall then, and see if that will help.

Make sure that you are saving the Feral Heart folder in the Local Drive (C:) as well. If you are trying to save the folder in a different part of your computer, this could be causing the crash. I would also try for a new re-install.

My FH file is in the Local Disk (C:) Drive and I just tried downloading it again. My game is still crashing. This really sucks. I've been a member since FH first started and with this new update I can't even get my game to work now. It may be my laptop, but it's not old and can handle some pretty heavy games. I'm so lost.

I have a feeling that you are doing something wrong, floof.

Try downloading Direct X (if you haven't already):

I re-downloaded Direct X just in case, but it told me my laptop already has it so that's not the issue.
If a admin or a mod is willing to GoToMeeting with me to download it themselves or see if anything is wrong I'm willing to do that. I really want to play. Haha.

Perhaps when you installed the new update, it merged the new installation with your old one and therefore messed everything up?

Try installing into a new folder like C:\NewFH or something similar.

A good number of people have had problems with the two downloads available. I suggest trying to clean re-install using a basic download via mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/download/u3u98mlwumkrac1/FHsetup1.15.exe

See if that works?

This worked! Thank you! But... I them tried putting the newest markings in and now the same thing is happening. So, the little note says to put both the .cgf (or something like that) and the Media in the FH folder. I'm a little confused because in the Media folder in the download there are other folders. I need a little bit more clearer directions because now my game isn't working again.

Here are the steps it comes with in the description from the marking download;
"1) Download the .zip
2) Once you have downloaded it, double click on the file and it should open
3) Once open, you should see three files. One is a folder, one is a markings.cfg, and the other is a notepad file that states to put both the folder and .cfg in your Feralheart folder.
4) Locate your Feralheart Folder. If you are on windows, you can do this by clicking "Start" on your task bar, and going to "Computer". Once you have, go to C:, then look for the folder labelled "Feralheart" unless you installed elsewhere.
5) Enter the folder labelled "Feralheart"
6) Return to the .zip, grab the .cfg and media folder and drag them into your Feralheart Folder. It will install on it's own.
7) Say "Yes" to overwrite, for everything.
8) Run and login to Feralheart
9) Go to create a character, and go to the markings section
10) All new markings have been added at the bottom
11) Done! Enjoy! Hope this helped"

Locking this up since your issue has been solved.
