Post by: Mythicalwolf02 on July 10, 2016, 11:21:26 pm
Hello, I have a problem with the masks on the maps... (created one of my own.) and it showed lines on my map instead of the REAL Mask.
Go to: http://mythicalwolf02.deviantart.com/art/Map-mask-not-working-620862213?ga_submit_new=10%253A1468192854     This is what happened.. <.<

I don't have a lot of knowledge on map making, but I will try to help you the best I can. :3

Make sure that you are using the main colors blue, green and red.
Also try testing it on another heightmap, or maybe try making another map mask that is not to compound. Also try using clear colors for it.

Sorry if I wasn't able to help that much, but maybe go to this thread if you want extra help http://www.feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=38909.0

Aight, I think I see the issue here...Maybe.

Like Fireboss mentioned above, make sure you're using the solid Red, Green, and Blue colors (no lighter, no darker). Also be sure to flatten your mask and that it's in RGB unlike the heightmap.

As far as those little lines that you're seeing goes, you see that little "1" below the boxes where you'd type the names of your heightmap and map masks, with the arrow next to it? That's where you switch between terrain textures. By default, the game sets texture "1" to African Grass (this can be changed), and also by default, any other texture after "1" is set to Black. To choose more than one terrain texture to use, click that arrow next to the "1" and it will change to "2" where you may then choose what other terrain texture you want to use for your map. You can have up to 6 terrain textures in one map mask by making two masks, which you would type in the second one once you reach terrain texture "4".

Here is a video tutorial that further explains map masks and how to make a 6 terrain mask:

Hope this helps floof.
