Title: Minimap Problems?
Post by: WolfLover2484 on August 28, 2016, 02:12:29 am
Hello! I'm having a slight problem. This is my first time making a map, and I had just finished it from GIMP. I have the '.png' of it. I don't know how to install the minimap into the game, or install it into Map Maker. I am using PlayOnMac, incase that helps someone help me c;

I'm not sure how it looks on Mac, but for a windows user you'd name the 'minimap' or map terrain whatever you named your map in FH.

In mapmaker, you should've named a map, for example "warriorscamp" and clicked save. If you did this properly, take a look in your media>terrains folder and find "warriorscamp" or whatever you named your map. Your minimap should be named, for example, "warriorscampTerrain". The Terrain part of the naming is ESSENTIAL.

Once that's done, put it into your map folder c:

Now, load up the mapmaker and go to the 'World' tab. You'll see something that says "defaultTerrain".png. Just replace the 'default' part of that with your map name and voila! It shouldload right in considering you've done everything correctly ^^

Adding on to what was said above, make sure that your heightmap (The black and white terrain image) is all of the following, otherwise the game will crash when you try to install it into the map maker.
-Grayscale
-513x513
-One Layer, Alpha Channel Off
-Flattened

Ah, so I did as told. I have entered the .png into the Map Maker. Though it seems to be crashing overtime I click away from it after typing it in. Is that normal, or did I just mess up again? Cx

Did you make sure you looked at what Kynvuu said above? The mapmaker will crash upon entering the terrain if there's something wrong with the file itself. You said you used GIMP- did you make sure it was in grayscale mode?

You have to go to the Image tab at the top and click mode and click grayscale then save it.

Yes, I have the grayscale already set and 513x513. I just don't really have any idea on how to turn the Alpha Channel off or the 'One Layer.' I've only just got GIMP yesterday.

Ok, so to remove an alpha channel, right click the layer and go down to "Remove Alpha Channel" and click it.

To only have one layer, look to your layers bar, it'll either be on the right or the left, and make sure there's only one layer.

I did as so, and was able to see that my Alpha Channel was already off. I removed the layers. Is there anything else needed to be done?

If for some reason it still doesn't work, be sure you flatten the image! Sometimes FH can be picky about that. On your Menu Bar for Image, click "Flatten Image" c:
