Title: What happened to all the felines
Post by: lsstoon on August 28, 2016, 05:10:18 pm
I almost never come across one.  For every 20 characters I see, 19 are canines and 1 is a feline.  What happened?

I have seen a lot of felines mostly they are in the grounds. You just have to look hard enough. Also I think there is more canines than felines because I think most people like the canine model better than the feline, but I think both models look good or it could be that the canine is more well known.

Aye, there's still some fine cats hangin' around. Just know where to find them.
Personally, I think the feline model looks better, so I have... 8 Feralheart characters usin' the feline model.

I think the reason for this is simple. There's more opportunities for the canine model for roleplay. Wolf packs, dogs, foxes, lone wolves, fandom characters; but with felines it's mostly just Warriors and/or lion prides.

I think felines are most likely to be warrior cats if anything. It seems that there are a plethora of them and perhaps a less number of lions indeed, but I don't think felines have overall disappeared in the game. Canine have always been quite popular, considering they were always the "new" thing after the transfer of lions only in Impressive Title.

Cool! Where are The Grounds and best places to find other felines? I started playing FH again for the first time in years after the update, I don't know where everything is at the moment.

Usually I find a lot of felines hanging around in Seaside and Cherika, and most of those are Warrior Cat and/or big cat. And here (http://www.feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=56894.0) is a map guide to find all of the maps and stuff! ^^

*gently waves* I'm almost always on felines (I'm not that active anymore, but I'm hoping to get more active soon)! My main FH character, Lillie, is a feline, and is not a warrior cat or lion! In fact, I have no clue what she is... c'x she's somethin' feline, that's all I can figure out. Either way, I will admit, a lot of my cat characters are warrior cats, stray cats, and I even have one that used to be a warrior, but ended up becoming a loner that I still play as. While there is certainly more canines than felines, and I've seen no group perfect for some of my more distinct characters like Lille or... that one I still don't have a name for, I've learned that, rarely, you can actually make an interesting roleplay with both felines and canines, in a non-fight-RP manner. It's only happened a few times, but those RPs get quite interesting sometimes. If ya can't find felines to RP with, see if there's a canine willing to RP with a feline!

Lions have declined while warrior cat numbers have doubled, i see them anywhere except the underwater map.  And while i see less panthers, cougars and leopards around i'm not convinced they've gone, maybe i just haven't looked in the right places.

I play mostly as a canine, but I still have a feline character here and there.  I actually see more warrior cats than I even see wolves. Must be just the times I log on or something. Or maybe because they are usually in a huge group I think there's more? I dunno.

I know, I kinda rant about it . (No offense to those who really like canines) But I know how you feel. But let's not make FH turn into a random war of canines and felines Since I got a fat cat and a fluffy dog huggies for all species.

I think it depends when you're online... somedays the grounds are overrun with canines and other days all there is is warrior cats. I do wish there were more feline roleplays that weren't WC related, but it's a very popular series so I highly doubt there will come a day when they aren't at least half of the population. As for the rest of the felines, well, I couldn't tell you specifically where to find them. Bonfire Island used to be where a lot of them were (thanks to the "pride rock" there for the TLK people), alas after the update from what I've heard there's no official spot for them anymore. My advice would just be to hang around the grounds, perhaps you'll find a lion pride advertising eventually. It's unlikely that they're all gone, you just gotta keep your eyes peeled. c:

I often look for feline based RPs and I usually avoid canine. It's hard for me to find RPs. Canines are too normal and don't interest me. I think it just depends on time of day and preference, with most people preferring the scary wolf or cuddly dog to the aloof cat. Probably because we've always seen on TV the constant 'DOGS BETTER THAN CATS' but idk that's just me.

I personally prefer cats bc im a cool cat B)

Ever since Feral Heart came out there's always seemed to be more canine players over felines. The canine model was the big selling point when Feral Heart first came out since in the original Impressive Title game (Feral Heart's predecessor) there was only the option to play as a feline. Canines also just seem to be more popular, not sure why. It could have something to do with the basic nature of the animals themselves as well:

Canines are fairly fun to roleplay as as they are group/pack animals.

While most felines are solitary aside from lion prides and the occasional male cheetah gangs.

I also think most people understand canine behavior better than feline behavior.

I do still think there is a fair distribution of canines to felines in game though. Felines just tend to be more spread out in smaller groups if not a lion pride.
