Title: Preset mane help?

can someone link me to a tutorial/guide to how the mane works??
ive been trying to figure it out and i cant seem to get the result i want, i cant seem to really figure out where the tips of the mane are located and what is what? if that makes sense??

you see i have this canine character who has 3 colors in his mane, the bangs are blonde with blue tips, and the rest of the mane on the back of the neck is brown with blue tips.
when i tried them out either the whole mane winds up blonde with no brown or blue, or its brown and blonde but no blue, or its blonde with bearly any visible blue.

its really confusing tbh to locate everything lmao i suck :")

  I find 2 things that help with making preset manes:
1. To make the manes look solid and not see through - https://feral-heart.com/smf/index.php?topic=60420.new#new

2. Colour placement - http://northernred.deviantart.com/art/FeralHeart-MANE-tricks-tutorial-Canine-part-514907588 (Morgra already said this. Nevermind.)
