Title: Help?
Post by: Bullspit on April 28, 2017, 11:20:05 pm
I was literally just on FH yesterday, and I go today to log on and I get this window with a red x that pops up saying, "The program can't start because irrKlang.dll is missing from your computer". What???

Did you download any mods today or yesterday?

No.

It might be because you moved the FH folder or the FH program itself. I've had this issue before, and I can't remember what exactly causes it, but here are a few suggestions that may work for you

Change your rendering system (you may have to do this via the ogre.cfg file)
Run FH as administrator
Reinstall FH (this is your best bet to get FH working again, it's worked for me)

This .dll specifically allows applications to open. The only thing I can think of that is removing this is your anti-virus firewall during installation, as it tends to remove .dll's from specific games the anti-virus is unaware of. I'm not sure why, I just know from experience. This is just what happened to me when I tried to install Tigg's Impressive Title server a few years ago. I can only suggest right now is to uninstall Feral Heart and delete the Feral Heart folder in the location you installed it to in the first place (Local Disk (C:) if you stuck to the default destination). Then turn off your firewall for about 15 mins, long enough to re-install Feral Heart again. If it still continues, then I suggest doing some research on how to stop your anti-virus or firewall from doing this.

If you have a lot of mods, you could also try installing the specific .dll file the game is missing and adding into the folder to save yourself the hassle of a complete reinstall. In this case, it is the irrKlang.dll file seems to be missing. You could use this installation here and save the contents to a second location on your harddrive for backup purposes:
Default FeralHeart Folder.

FeralHeart Default Folder (Complete download) Download here. (http://www.mediafire.com/download/816yk6dc5mcv47k/FeralHeart+default.zip) 161 MB
Alternatively you can re-install the game in the downloads section. This is mainly here so people can use this if they ever need anything after making changes to their own FeralHeart folders such as adding custom content. This download is also useful because if you ever break something you can always have this extra folder to grab the fix from.

This may become useful in situations like this. You could also just extract the irrKlang.dll file from the zip and replace it into your default FeralHeart folder.

Just thought that I'd bring this up.
I saw you online a few minutes ago, so I assume you've got the problem solved?

Late, but it's happening again. I'm lost because the irrKlang.dll is actually still in my folder, idk why it's saying it isn't

Maybe the irrKlang.dll is corrupt? Have you tried reinstalling the game?

I think you had mentioned doing a reinstall of the game. I would try that again, however this time I would download a new installer from the site and install the game from a brand new download as well.

Also, make sure that you delete the old FeralHeart folder completely after you uninstall and before you reinstall to make sure there aren't any left over files.

Yes, I even reinstalled it and it still has the same problem

I know it may seem repetitive, but try it again doing what I said in my previous post. It is a common solution for this problem. ^^

What you have to do is go to your particle folder (by default: My Computer -> C: Drive -> FeralHeart -> media -> particles). Delete any files ending with _01, _02, _03, etc.
Also, check for any duplicates in My Computer -> C: Drive -> FeralHeart -> media -> objects -> my_objects.

Do you see that little box with the blue arrow in the bottom corner of the icon? That means it's a shortcut to a file called "FeralHeart.exe". To run the game, people use the "FeralHeart.exe" file, but sometimes it happens that they drag the actual "FeralHeart.exe" (and not the shortcut) onto their dekstop unknowingly and try to run the game.

"irrKlang.dll" makes FeralHeart play its music and sounds correctly.
