Title: Preset Tuft/markings
Post by: flandesuyo1 on September 03, 2017, 01:19:18 am
I know I come to this forum a lot but my cousin makes me ask all the questions lol. She wants to know how you get it so your markings dont show on your tufts in presets. Is it a coding or thing or the way you place markings. It looks really wonky.

It's mostly based on where you're drawing the so called marking. It's possible to not actually get it on the tufts in some certain cases while others it's unavoidable depending on how you're designing the preset. c:

Then what's the strategies for not getting it to show on the tufts? Avoid the areas where the tufts start?

That's a simple solution, yes.
There's a UV guide that you can follow or put over the texture that you're using while keeping in mind where the areas of 'tufts' begins at. It takes some time to get used to know exactly where to draw, but it can be beneficial in the long run while making presets c:

Here, this might help!
The leg tufts are a continuation of part of the leg UV as are the back tufts. You might notice the red area on the leg and the red area on the tuft are the same. Have your cousin test it out so she can get a feel for what is what.

Using the UV helper provided here http://nekonotaishou.deviantart.com/art/FeralHeart-Preset-UV-guides-258716223 (http://nekonotaishou.deviantart.com/art/FeralHeart-Preset-UV-guides-258716223), you can see what portions of the UV continue onto all of the different tufts of the character.

It probably will be beneficial for you to download those and experiment with coloring on a separate layer to see if you can get the results you're looking for ^^

Basically, just upload a picture to either tinypic or imageshack ( that's the one I've been using recently since tinypic gives me problems so far... and copy the link that comes with it. Once you've done that, do this coding:
[ IMG ]- PICTURE LINK -[ /img ] ( Minus the spacing )
and that should do it. If you uploaded from tinypic, grab the link that has the '[ IMG ][ /IMG ] coding around it and copy + paste in the signature part of your profile c:
