Title: Does anyone else miss when FeralHeart was big?
Post by: mineblox on October 16, 2017, 08:32:02 pm
I remember showing up in bonfire the first time I downloaded the game and there we so many players. I think the one thing I miss most about FH is the huge community. There were so many roleplays, presets, maps, etc. and I think it was more fun when the game was popular. It's normal for things to lose popularity though; Now FeralHeart has a rather small community compared to what it was before. Sometimes smaller communities are good though! I just miss when it was popular and big, I guess.

I wasn't around in the very beginning when there were close to 1,000 players online, but when I did join there were still 600-700 online and it was great. Loved sitting in old Bonfire watching all the crazy people.

I actually like parts of both the larger and smaller playerbases... I do have a lot of nostalgia for the old days where there were people everywhere and you could pretty much strike up a conversation with someone no matter where you were, but I guess I also like how the smaller playerbase is now a bit closer and calmer. I don't know, I appreciate both, though I'd love to see a large playerbase again like it was a few years ago.

Ah, nostalgia. Lol.
I remember first joining and there was just an abundance and variety of characters in nearly every map.. even the Temple of Dreams.
Even though I don't normally speak much, I like to hear / see the activeness of the players.
Even know, especially at the Grounds it seems lively in its own way. Lol.

I sometimes/mostly saw 800 players online back in 2014, I may have seen 1000 players online once back in 2014 too.
I still remember the tab at the side of the website that allows viewing of how many players and in what maps, even how many are in custom maps.

Oh, the nostalgia.
I've been around this game for years and years, and before this, Impressive Title.
This game really made my late childhood/early teens almost magical. I too miss when the community and player base was much larger and more lively, but I'm just still happy to see others still caring and playing FH.

Quiet time of the night.  "94 online" i only see 10.  Bring back the thing on the home page that tells how many on each map?

This is coming from the person who remembers when the site reached 1,000 players online, FeralHeart was never that big. No person or thing is to blame for the numbers increasing and decreasing over the years, despite what some may tell you. MMO/RPGs populations fluctuate, whether or not they stay popular or relevant. For example, some people still play the games they loved as a child despite they are passed the recommended age-group.

Sure, I miss when it was rather quiet in Cape of Distant Worlds and there wasn't a lot of chaos in the widely-populated maps. The balance between the mature and immature is still the same, there will be users I cannot stand and there will be the ones who contrast your beliefs, but it's human nature. There are still mapless roleplays, even though they are a rarity nowadays, and it's hard to find a good one; they're out there. In a world where everyone is different, online populations will change.

You must give credit to everyone at FeralHeart, even KovuLKD. They have all kept FeralHeart alive and breathing, and we should be thankful of that. Even if FeralHeart is not as popular, or even if it still is, we need to realize how long it's stayed alive. You cannot say "was big," because you don't know what the future holds. For all we know, even if the possibilities are very low and in the negatives, that Kov will come back and be like "HEY I MADE THIS." Optimism is not my strong suit, but sometimes you just have to be positive whether you like it or not. Do not give in to false hope, because you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes of the scenes. FeralHeart have staff that care about its' members and don't abandon us during the rough patches, so we should keep that in mind.

Every member, from the beginning of FeralHeart (possibly even IT), has different theories, POVs, strategies, knowledge, and what ever else about FeralHeart and it's entirety. Some may keep quiet about them, due to those people who have no hope for FeralHeart, and others may state their opinion no matter the possible outcome.

I apologize if I came across as rude or even harsh, I am full of caffeine.

I honestly fully agree. FeralHeart is an GREAT game, loved it before I even registered. Saw the videos and was like:
'Woah! What's this game?! FeralHeart?! I want to play that!!!'  I do miss when it was large and bustling, I really do..

I do actually, the smaller maps have allot of lag and not allot of space to move around in. Yeah there are more mps but there will always be a main hang out (I.E. the grounds).

Ugh, I miss big user base FH a lot. Just the liveliness of it. You could sit in Bonfire and just watch people go wild, and even jump into RPs with people you've never talked to and not be questioned. Fun way to make some friends. Now it seems the only place to be if you want at least a chance of a convo in Local is the front of the Grounds.

I think it gotten smaller because of the registration being closed. I've met someone in another game that told me they've been trying to register for 2 years. o-o

I remember playing FeralHeart around 2012/2013-ish. There was always hustle and bustle (and of course, an EXTREME amount of lag). Whenever I jumped into a map, there was always someone new to talk to and new friends to make. I had a blast!

IMO, not much has changed since then, gameplay-wise. I'd say the biggest changes would be with the amount of players online and their willingness to interact with one another. My biggest issue with the community nowadays is the fact that no one really talks to each other (at least in Local). Everyone seems a lot more reserved than they used to be. Seems really hard to find people in-game to strike up a conversation with. IDK, maybe it's just me.

Could not agree with this more. I think if we want the community to expand and bring in even more creative, great individuals, we need to open registration. I know this is difficult to do and maybe manage but this is really holding FeralHeart back.

Unlike a lot of people I actually really miss the days when Fluorite Plains was so full that you had to wait a bit for a the server to make room for you to hop into the game. It was so fun. So many RPs and so many wonderful people on the game. I do admit, compared to back then, right now it is definitely a lot smaller of a community.. it saddens me quite a bit.

Yes! Yes I do! I've been around since just after the game came out. Many many years. -but there is a way to save feral heart, and grow it! Tell your friends!
Tell your friends to tell friends! Create fan sites, Make videos, Advertise the art. Make flyers and stick em' around town! SOCIAL MEDIA! Instagram it, #Wolf #Feline #Animal Lovers #RPG #MMORPG !!! Share share share!

When I first started playing, players advertised feral heart using youtube mostly. Music videos, Best animal Game, On and On- Best RPG Animal game... Y'know?

The more people that advertise this game the more it grows. Nothing has died, Everything has a chance. <3
If you want feral heart to be great again (As trump would say) MAKE IT GREAT AGAIN! Be The next Feral TRUMP! :D

Build build build!
No one's gonna get anywhere by moping about it, Inspire people to take a stand for a game that has changed peoples lives in many ways.

Yes, of course.
I've been playing this game for years and I've seen people and trends come and go. I hate to be so caught up by nostalgia, but I wish it was 2012 again. There were so many diverse roleplays at the time. The diverse culture of each map is what made this game great. These days the community is small and way too distant. Most of the groups I see advertised in-game are carbon-copies of each other, only trying to be the next big thing.

I'm not denying early FH wasn't perfect. We had obnoxious trolls left and right. There was a lot of players online at a time so there was room for bad apples. We have complex game modifications now, and no one dared to create them years ago. Let's not forget about the bad tokens. X(

I don't think advertising would help the activity, unfortunately. Only so many people have interest in this game.

I know this thread is getting a little old, but I have to say, FH back then was probably the most fun, ever! It made my late teenage years for sure, and man, the nostalgia of late 2012 and early 2013 was to me, my biggest point. Seeing 800 members on all the time was amazing, because I could jump in and make new friends like crazy! Though, FH does now haunt me a lot because I look at my friend's list and wonder if some of these people are doing okay... what they are doing now and if they are even still alive... y'know? It's pretty depressing actually, but I never-the-less, loved every bit of what FH had back then.

Now? Well... I jump on and hope for a few friendly faces but It seems like everyone is AFK. Believe it or not, I miss those crazy trolls because it filled the game with humor at times and though, sometimes annoying, it was refreshing. I personally feel many of the "newer" players are wayyyy too serious, and uptight. I guess it's just how communities change after awhile, but it sucks that I have to try so hard to make friends... Bonfire was my hot point for sure, and goofing around , man, I did that for hours. But I know that I grew more social skills IRL some how by displaying a bit of myself there to so many people.

I miss 2013 the most, the players were thriving and new people always brought on new ideas... no one was completely coping off each other in bland ways. I honestly wish I could leave the game like everyone else did, but I know that FH was what helped me grow up for sure, all the way till my adult years.

Ughh... Glad to see so many people like me stayed though.

I went up to two people today in The Grounds and told them that their characters "looked really cool"! But they stared my character down and ran away. :/ I guess they weren't in the mood to talk or didn't know how to speak English. IDK.

Stuff like that happens in-game. A lot. There's a lot of disconnect between players now. But I'd love to do something about that!

I'd love to be able to chat and meet new people without having to join an RP group. If I meet any of you in-game, DON'T be afraid to reach out and talk to me. Heck, feel free to message me on the forums. I'd love to take the first few steps to making FH chatty again. :)

I think part of that is because of the new maps and how everyone is spread out everywhere now. But I agree, I miss Fluorite Plains and Bonfire Island a lot. I do find the new maps quite nice, but at the same time, it makes the game look almost empty, despite there being close to 300 users online when I log in.

I LOVE Feral-Heart so so much, & I still ADORE the community so much! but I do miss the large, vast community & the multiple new people I would meet in a single day. It was such an adventure! It is still nice now. I do miss the larger population though.

I think a good reason for this is the fact that many people who played the game back then are in their late teens/early twenties now. As you get older, you have less free time to do the things that you want to do (work, school, taking care of kids, etc.) Being a full-time college student makes it hard for me to find the time to play FH.

I have another theory.  When younger players would get into trouble, they would rant online about being "banned for no reason". I think the "I got into trouble for doing nothing" stories started to paint FH in a negative light.

But I also think that some people just got bored. When you play the same game over and over again, you eventually gotta find something new to play, y'know?

I remember showing up in bonfire the first time I downloaded the game and there we so many players. I think the one thing I miss most about FH is the huge community. There were so many roleplays, presets, maps, etc. and I think it was more fun when the game was popular. It's normal for things to lose popularity though; Now FeralHeart has a rather small community compared to what it was before. Sometimes smaller communities are good though! I just miss when it was popular and big, I guess.

I do too.
Really wonder what it actually was that made players vanish so much. And i wonder where they have left.

Drama, people growing up, interests changing, decisions made in the community that people didn't like.

It's a myriad to be honest.

My stomach is just twinging with intense nostalgia.

I remember where one day I came up to a group of headswinging, colorful players. I joined in, and we all became friends, and gradually more and more players joined the line of dancing players. It was great fun.
Nowadays you can make a colorful character and dance all you want in The Grounds, but most people will cast a glance at you and ignore you.
Lots of characters back then were colorful, unique and stood out in its own fabulous way. Now I walk down the path in the grounds and I see players with dull colors and sleepy expressions.
It makes me sad, frankly to see how much people change.

Now, I'm not saying it's a bad thing to make a dull character, I respect everyone's designing taste. I don't mean to offend.
I'm just saying how I miss that everyone was so easy to become friends with. Now I just feel uneasy to walk up to someone and send a friend request.
Plus where did everyone go? This used to be such a lively game, with around 1,000 players. Now I only see about 500 online a day?
I just seriously miss the old days, man. Bonfire, Fluorite, South Pole. I miss so much.
But I still like it how people are still playing and this game wasn't deserted after the update.

This. This what i can not agree any more! This is so true!

I feel like people only communicate if you're from the forum or very well known around. Whether your on other sites or just have a special talent. Nowadays what really bothers me but no one sees...is that whenever an artist appears to the forum then shows up in the game, everyone is stick to them and trying to be their friend. I'm not saying its bad - its good to meet new people but if you're just talking your way, expecting to be a good floof then thats wrong. Another thing i see is you're the type to help someone constantly and you happen to be in the game, yea, people are gonna approach you. This...is where i feel like competition comes in or jealously probably.

Overall im saying you are the floof that didnt fit what i stated above, trust and believe you're going to sit by yourself an whole day. I kinda miss going afk and coming back with a bunch of whispers. Now i get just a long list of local chats everywhere. Its saddening and its saddening what ways people do to make friends. You only make friends if you're talented/skillful, well known, a mod, or anything.

Honestly its hard to make friends now. People have trust issue because certain users stabbed in the back or just stopped being their friends or just using you. I rather people come to me than i go to them. I dont want them to think im just using them or giving more stress.

Now I just feel uneasy to walk up to someone and send a friend request.
Same.

Unless you're gossiping, then expect a few requests in minutes.

Plus where did everyone go?[/center]

It appears they kept looking at their cellphones until they lost the ability to talk to each other, & talk about/through their problems.  Now they just sit there making frowny faces and stewing in self imposed problems until they disappear completely.
And not just in FH.  In real life too.
And i'm just here like "Hey people what's up?", no responses anymore.

I believe most of the problems for feral heart is caused by the registration being opened at random times. I’ve been trying to make an account for ages and I mean I finally did. But most of the people probably don’t even know that registration is opened at random times or they don’t read on the forums because they probably don’t understand everything. I just wish that registration would be opened completely for like example;every first week in a month. And then back to random times. Not sure if that’s possible but it would be cool

Though I usually prefer not having too many people to communicate with (I get overwhelmed easily), the amount of people that I actually talked with in-game is in the low double digits. And half of them were at the Christmas party only. Even in local chat, what I see are mostly videos for RP recruitment. Except when there's a Party Centre or Dance Centre around. ;D

Generally, there doesn't seem to be much going on in-game. Despite having learned that the community is friendly, I haven't really noticed that outside parties and the forum. And then there are the times that I sometimes receive a random friend request. I always decline them, because I don't know the person who sent it at all.

Like my small cat character always says.  "Be the cat change you want to see in the world".

So we'll have to be the ones who make the change.

My biggest issue with the community nowadays is the fact that no one really talks to each other (at least in Local). Everyone seems a lot more reserved than they used to be. Seems really hard to find people in-game to strike up a conversation with. IDK, maybe it's just me.
Oh my goodness, SO so true.

To be honest, a lot of people talk to each other in chat, but you don't really see a lot of people up and interacting with one another. They just kind of... sit there. And do nothing.
It's not you. I've definitely noticed since the update and I wish more people could actually get up and talk to others instead of being withdrawn and mute.

I agree with you all the way.
