What kind of comic books do you read? I'm not talking about mangas (are they comics? I 'unno)
Currently I'm reading The Walking Dead by Kirkman and Moore;

I grew up reading two very clever european comic books- Tintin

and The Adventures of Asterix

the artist for the asterix book is ingenious- I've never seen a comic artist draw 5-fingered hands so well (most draw 4-fingered hands)! and such unique faces and funny take on roman history and culture XD
recently though I've been reading Mouse guard- absolutely beautiful artwork! I'm hoping to make a graphic novel someday that's this AWESOME ^^
