Hey, soo it's been awhile since I've played this game (
and by awhile i mean about four years) so I decided to go back to it today for nostalgia's sake. I opened the login page and was able to get into the front server. However, whenever I try actually going into the game with one of my characters, the map I'm in is nothing with a black void, with usually 1-2 people in there with me. I can't go anywhere else, and it seems endless as far as I know.
I've tried resetting my home and going there, but whenever I do, it says that it can't find the map or that it's invalid or something.
Any help would be much appreciated. :0

what you're gonna wanna do is this:

click on user panel in the upper right hand corner
log in
reset the home of your characters there and see if that works
if it still can't find the map, i suggest wiping all FH data and then starting with a fresh reinstallation.

So I just tried to do it from the site, but nothing's changed. I think I might as well reinstall it, but if I do, will I lose all my characters and maps?

I'm thinking you may not have the most recent patch if anything? Try re-installing and I would recommend backing up any old things you could potentially lose.
Though, if you download it and just name it something else you can just move stuff over later.

Lmk how it goes!! I'm sure if you haven't played in four years or so you likely wouldn't have the new maps and such so that must be the case.
