ya'll i just woke up and my FH servers are poppin about how
the game has an update with actual things, and not heavily modded
stuff. but wheres the annoucement. we're all wandering around like
headless chickens, what's going on? (:

Uhm... I might regain my interest for this game again... Like what the heck, you can change the size of your tail now? Change colors of manes and tufts individually? Custom emotes? I can't wait to try these things out, in all honesty.
Edit: Why is the map positioned at the left corner, this needlessly upsets me and some other floofs in the game xD
-
i cant even get on to check it out the new update still tells me i dont have it installed when i do
-
whistles
-
Sura has a thread coming soon. She's just not currently available for the final touches. Hang tight.
-
Since you can make custom emotes, change colors on your tufts individually, change tail size, something tells me Kovu might have given the source code? Just a theory.
-
*screams at work*
I want to be home...and see all the magic...

It was originally positioned in the left corner, but it was a terrible idea to change it to the right to be honest, because in the map maker when ever you try to click a button you sometimes end up clicking on the minimap because its under the map maker buttons.
-
They have truly destroyed the game within this new update, Tails look weird, Lengths and all make you look odd and above all when editing an existing character that had its colors messed up or even attempting to make a new one, when finishing its design colors up mostly on the body and tail markings when you click ok the markings change themself and will not go and stay on the color you selected
Like for a body on one of mine i put a rusty blue color and for its tail i put neon blue, when clicking ok they both shoved themself onto a set rusty blue color and for the life of me i CANNOT get it to change.
Not to mention the mini map has been changed to the other side of the screen which is bugging me as now my chat covers it and i can't view where my friends are
im very upset with this update already.
-
dude, they didn't even announce anything
im honestly just worried about this
lets hope it can be fixed and it isn't something to worry about
also, pardon, but who is Xspirit ? I've never heard of them tbh.
-
As already said a thread should come out soon.
All will be explained in good time.
-
I just also want to say, not sure if it would matter,
let's not point fingers and get accusative just yet until we actually know what the scoop is.
I just wanted to start a discussion about the update as I was confused ^^'
-
Mhm, best to wait until all info is out before making conclusions. ^^
-
Lets hope it will get fixed.
I like the idea of the markings, though they should make a way it doesn't reset the markings on every body part
The tail thing, is kinda meh....It looks wrong, and no one would actually use it
Again, lets all hope this disaster won't be permanent
-
I'm rather enjoying the tail sizer. A bit dodgy, but it's a cute feature nevertheless. People wanting to make fun, funky characters with weird distortions will enjoy using that, as well as being able to colour their mane and tufts differently to one another.
-
I'm personally a fan of all that was added. With the tail sizer, I can make one of my characters look very accurate to how her species looks. I'm super excited and pleased with it. It's gonna open up so many different character possibilities~
-
Yes I agree with Scally and Ame, it's a small update but definitely one that most people will enjoy! Sure there are some hiccups, but keep in mind this just came out. There's almost always glitches and what not, I'm sure it will be fixed as soon as possible. <3
-
If I can make a tail longer, I am all for it. I looooove me some long tails. Can't wait for the thread on this, and also to play it when I get home. But you can't make everyone happy.
-
I really like the new overlays and the opportunity to add more color to your character
i can finally reach my final form
-
Oh my gosh! OHMYGOSH THEY GOT THE SOURCE CODE! I don't think I've ever been so excited to see an update for FH before. I am elated, and absolutely can't wait to check it out!
-

Indeed sorry about the confusion that that caused guys. The thread was already ready to go and was supposed to have been made public before Raz threw the update out there so that you all could have an understanding and explanation for things. But Raz decided to make the update public before notifying us.
But yeah the link to the thread is here for anyone still looking <3

Most likely not KovuLKD. If it was, it would probably have been said.

Think of this like a Alpha or Beta test. I'm sure feedback of reported bugs and/or any other rising issues will be dealt with in due time.
Problems should be expected no matter how long a project has been worked on; the help of the community might just speed up how quickly and efficiently issues are dealt with. I'm just glad to see any sort of update being pushed out after so long of radio silence with the situation of the source code. ^^

^^^ This is an excellent comment and I totally agree! Also, a heads up, people are having problems loading into TG so do not stress if you cannot get in at the moment, it might be a server-sided kink.

I just hate to see so many members jump to conclusions or making accusations; I'm sure the staff are and will be working tirelessly to get the update running smoothly. So far I've seen troubles with logging in and few revolving around the new colour system. Also installing mods seems to make the game crash for some users. c:

Thank you guys so much for the understanding <3 A lot of testing was done and many issues came up that were fixed, but once things were made live it seems even more issues arose some of which were originally thought to be sorted but now aren’t. Given that this is our first patch release of this nature in years there will definitely be some bumps. I know it’s frustrating to deal, especially when you’re really excited and just want to jump into the action. I assure you all though that it’s all still being looked into and sorted out as it comes. In due time it should be more stable.

Don't fret too much! I'm sure with the excitement of seeing a game many love and adore finally getting a much needed update has made everybody on edge. Everybody is just going to have to hold tight and offer help with feedback - you keep doing what you can with what you have. ^^

I honestly really love the update! It isn't a lot, but as has already been stated many many times, the fact that we have the source code now is absolutely amazing, and means upcoming updates will have even more awesome features. Adjusting my characters for the new slider was a little bit of a hassle, but I don't mind. There's always going to be people who say "this update ruined fh for me im unstanning >:C" but that's just the nature of the internet.
This has me extremely excited for the future of this game now that it can move forward in a totally different direction than it was before.

I couldn't agree with you more, I think
if the staff had more time to test it and see
how it went, I think we would've had a more polished
execution, but I'm just grateful that the source code,
the actual bigfoot of this game, was found

Staff have been testing for a while and of course much more extensively days before this was released. Unfortunately things decided to break at the worst possible time... when it went public. FH hasn't had a source update since 2011 so we had no idea what to expect despite our efforts. Bugs will continue to be looked into
-
I'm very glad to see something new for the game, honestly. Of course there will be bugs after so longg, but i'm sure they'll all be fixed in time.
I'm excited to see what is in store for the game though, can't wait to see more additions.
Maybe this means we could get in new models or touch up the old ones? Would be real cool to see something like that!
We definitely have more we can do for the game, so I'm sure they will be keeping an eye on suggestions.
I really think the game needed this!! I'm sure it got a lot of old members attention.

I keep hearing that this update brought some people back, I simply don't think that this update is that huge. Yeah, the game finally got an update, but is the game going to not be updated for a long time like it has been a bunch of times, or will there be constant updates every few months? If so, how is the community going to learn how to transition their markings and items easily with no hassle? And will our characters markings, colors, and items be all scrambled up again in the next update? (my main character had completely different colors from what he normally was for some odd reason.)
-
I have a concern with this new update thing.. I tried to log in and saw that I had to download the update, but I didn't know where the link was. I have been looking around the forum for hours and haven't found it! Please help, and I'm new here. :>

Just for the record, that was posted before Sura's thread came into place :p

Perhaps that's something that can be figured out as the updates go. Figure out how to create a download for existing modifications (if they would be compatible) as well as a full regular download for people just getting into the game.
-
if we're going to be discussing the update, one thing i don't really understand is why it'd cause people to, y'know, quit or be driven away from the game. yes, there's a ton of bugs! but that's *going* to happen eventually no matter how much it was tested. they're already being addressed and fixed, if i'm not mistaken. i'd think that finding the actual source code would be a reason for people to stay and tag along, and for me, it's why i'm active right now. most of the bugs aren't even that significant and i don't see how they'd distract from the actual gameplay. most of the ones that are an actual bother can simply be fixed manually, too. feralheart looks like it has pretty much remained the same for years now, and i think sacrificing a few minor things are worth it for the sake of something new.

the main thing that has people celebrating in the streets is that it was an update using the source code.
something that hasn't been available, ever.
and the last time it was used was christmas of 2012.
seven years ago.

I'm just not personally up and arms about the source code. Cool, we have it. I'm just questioning the anonymous person that decided to give staff the code.

I love FH as it is already, but what I would welcome with open arms is optimization of the game. It's crazy heavy on CPU and probably on GPU just as well. Before adding any more cool stuff and functions, I'd like for the game to run well on weaker computers. Since I use foreign keyboard pressing, for example š, č ž or similar stuff causes the game to crash :/ That can be pretty annoying. So yeah, working on optimization and behavior of the game would be beneficial for everyone and would help in the long run. If we ever get past that phase, I'd LOVE to get updated models and animations. Also, It would be cool if the terrains could have layers or so. Imagine maps with cliffs, caves and stuff, which are not made of meshes. That would be amazing.
