I know that cheetahs chirp. I've known this for some time (for those who don't already know, cheetahs sound like birds:
chirping cheetahs! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSickcDomwo#ws)
But just today, I learned that Cheetahs also meow. All the articles I've ever read said that cheetahs just plain don't do that. Yet, there's a video here proving that they do/can.

I was wondering if anyone knew how or why?
Do only "tame"/captive cheetahs meow? Are they mimicking something else in the zoo/park?
Or have they always meowed and everyone was so enthralled by their main communication (chirping) that they just don't mention meows?

Cheetahs were always able to meow. That's a fact. I'm pretty sure they can bark as well.
And from what I've seen and read, cheetahs meow when they want something. I'm not sure about that though.
