Okay.... this is my second time today I was on this board. e_e I know how to get the meshes onto the game and put them in object maker. I figured that out on my own. But when I go to put them into the object maker it comes out plain white. I also know you need the material file for it and I put both .mesh and .material (spelled correctly) into the typing boxes and it STILL comes out white. I want to know whether or not there is a special place for the .material files because I have them in the Feral-Heart >> media >> (objects) folder. Where do they go that I can see the color on my game? I need help ASAP. :3
-
When you load a mesh, you type it like basiccube.mesh, and when you load a material you type it like YourmaterialnameMat?
*yourmaterialname is whatever you made it. xD)
-
I see.... Okay I will give that a try. Thank you!
-
If the object is downloaded save it in both My_objects and in example structures ^^
-
You can just type in the mesh name and click 'add new' and the material should come up by itself
-
@xRubyx: It didn't work. It just switched right over to "BaseWhite."
@Rimfrost: I'll give that a try. Does saving it in those two folders make the color appear?
@Ringo: Yeah, I know. But I tried that and it still came up as "BaseWhite."
-
Screenshots?
-
The might be someting wrong with the material file then
-
@xRubyx: Of what exactly? The "BaseWhite" thing?
@Ringo: It's multiple files from multiple popular meshers. I would understand a single random mesh being broken but not a bunch of them.
-
@xRubyx: It didn't work. It just switched right over to "BaseWhite."
@Rimfrost: I'll give that a try. Does saving it in those two folders make the color appear?
@Ringo: Yeah, I know. But I tried that and it still came up as "BaseWhite."
Well, I got that problem before, but when I saved them in my_objects and someone of: grass, misc, rocks, shapes, shrubs, structures or trees the colour appear
-
Try putting them in my_objects, yes. If that doesn't work, post the screenshots of the BaseWhite thing.
-
Mhmm, the BaseWhite, and possibly what your material says as well.
-
@Rimfrost: I tried that and it still switched over.
@Ringo: Yeah, it didn't work. The screenshot link is below.
Oh and I realized something. When I downloaded a pack of meshes from Drekentai's post on the Impressive Heart forum, it worked just fine. He said he compressed it to take up much less space by putting it in a .fho file. It worked just fine and I can use the objects from it. Does that mean anything?

@xRubyx: The confusing part about this is that it takes the shape of the object but does not take its color. As the picture shows it says "leanto.mesh" and took away the material thing, replacing it with BaseWhite.
-
What is in your material file would help. ^^ Sorry, I repated myself. xD
-
This is new. o_o
1) all user created meshes, materials, and textures should be in "my_objects".
2) if the mat still stays white, while the mesh is highlighted type in "leanto/TEXFACE/firBark.jpg" exactly like that upper cased and all. Then hit the "update button". The wood should change to normal now.
3)if not, re-download. something is corrupted.
4)if so, hit the little arrow above the mat and type "leanto/TEXFACE/thatch1.png" as the second mat to get the thatch to fix.
What drek does with her mesh downloads is very different from my means and her fix cannot be applied here. Usually typing in the mat name manually fixes the issue.
-
@xRubyx: Like I said before, I have multiple material files, it isn't just one.
-
I know, but I needed to see what one says.
-
@TheOriginalHammy: I'm not quite understanding step 2 and 4.
-
@xRubyx: It says "leanto.material" and "leanto.mesh"
-
I meant the inside of the material file, when you open it in notepad. :)

Read this tutorial, that might help: http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=8096.0 (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=8096.0)

Like so:
placing the first texture:

Placing the second texture:
When you open the .material files, you can find the texture names needed to make them appear on their meshes. They are always listed first to last used. So the first one would be texture 1, and the second would be texture 2 if more than one texture was applied to the mesh.
-
@Rimfrost: That exactly what I have been doing. It changes the .material file into BaseWhite.
Oh and Hammy thank-you for the advice (that I didn't understand xD) but I need a fix for the other meshes, too. It isn't just you. Sly's meshes don't work on my computer either. I need advice that can apply for everybody else as well.
-
o_o a lot of words. xD okay I will try it! I hope it will work. But does anybody have advice for all the other unworking meshes?
-
Ok, if you have put all files, mesh, material and picture file in both my_objects and someone of the other object folders, then I dont know whats wrong, it might be your computer?
-
@Hammy: Nope. Didn't work. Still switched to BaseWhite.
-
@Rimfrost: I don't quite see what my computer could really contribute to this. I have every file and nothing has changed, its just that .mesh and .material files evidently don't work. :'/
-
Do you have the map pack? xD I uninstalled it because all my objects I had add in object maker disappeared.
-
No I just had to uninstall my whole game and all of it's components like 8 hours ago. The thread is further down the board. I need to install the map pack again. Why? Does it have unique usable objects?
-
If it had worked with the leanto it would have worked with the other meshes too. you can open the .material files and get the codes needed to fix the textures from those files. It's not a on-mesh fix. it applies to all meshes.
Anyway, if it didn't work I'm inclined to say the downloads were corrupted or there is a spelling error when you attempted typing the material name in. Feralheart is very case-sensitive.
I'll look into a downloadable 'fix' tomorrow.
