Title: Garry's Mod, anyone?
Post by: Nyan Cat on June 27, 2011, 12:07:34 am
Yeah im pretty sure most of the people on feralheart have no idea what im talking about. I also think that there are no Garry's mod threads out there. Either that or the search is suprisingly broken D:

Basically discuss about stuff you made or textured, favorite servers etc. Mine is Gmod Theatre hosted by Cheezburger (OMG MEMEBASE!) You get to post the link to a youtube video and submit it. Then you wait till other people's videos get through and yours comes next other than that, if its a rick roll'd video you can vote skip, throw popcorn, heck if its a good dance remix, jump like a moron. XD
Heres basically what the theatre looks like.

You can also post a few images of what the maps look like.
(Dunno if this thread breaks the rules)

It's basically ran on Steam and is mainly based off Half Life 2 I guess? Then it has random servers like fishing for melons or zombie survival. Other than that they're headcrab zombies mostly so it kinda ties in with most of the valve games. Then you character is mostly a citizen and its a FPS game. But its not based on animals. (fail explanation)

I haz, and I used to play that fairly often. Though I tend to stay away from it now since what actually makes garrys mod fun, is all the add ons that you can install for it. And if you want a lot of those, it completely noms your Harddrive, even if you have space for it, it feels weird taking it up for things like these.

People can come up with hilarious videos using Gmod though, Idiots of garrys mod or Garrys mod Idiot box. Just luff <3.

I think you download it but it includes other things. :l I'm pretty unsure since my brother handled all the downloading and buying. Like you have to buy Half-Life 2 and maybe Counterstrike for all the source crap to work (Yes >:3) Then you have to have a steam account. But if you log onto your steam account on another computer, and redownload gmod it works pretty fine as long as you download the other stuff that you bought on your user :o

Or I'm wrong lol.

Aye, everything that you buy on your account will stay on the actual account. You can swap computers as many times you want, since the games are linked to it. The only real issue is that it's boring and takes time to redownload all the games over and over, and having some of these games take up quite some space on the HDD.

You can buy garrys mod separate, but as mentioned, you do need a source game such as HL2, CSS or TF2 if I remember right. But you can buy garrys mod together with one of those games for an extra price.

If you download it from anyplace other than the steamstore you wont be able to connect via the steam network, and it's the steamservers and multiplayer that actually makes the game fun.
