Title: Using custom music in custom maps?
Post by: Finley on June 28, 2011, 08:57:34 pm
Hi there :) I don't know if there is a thread about this already, but I searched and found nothing. I also asked in General in Fluorite, but I guess no one knew. I'm unsure how to use this new Music feature on custom maps. I might just be being silly and missing the obvious but I've been trying with it for about half an hour now :P I have two different tracks ready to be used so I can try out the methods as someone's telling me :)

Could anyone shed some light?

Music can't be added to the actual map, but it can be added to objects through Object Maker, then placed in a map.

Is that not what it is for? I may have misunderstood this whole thing lol :P

You need to place your music in the sound folder, not the music folder :)
the new map pack also had that problem, they updated their topic that you had to place the new music in the sound foleder in stead of the music folder.

same now goes if you add your own music to your map (I just tried that and everything worked)
but your musci must be in your sound folder. also the name you give in the map maker must be exact the same as your music file. one wrong single letter makes that the music doesn't work.

*slaps forehead* Of course! I shall go and try that, and then edit in if it worked or not. Either way, I'm so happy they put the feature in :D Do you know if music is now included in the .fhm export, or if we have to send it to people separately?

that's something I try to figure out :) I guess it's attached to the map file when exported.

I just exported mine and I am looking for some testers to see if it works XD

I figured this out last night. xD
Also, make sure the file is the right format. Which I think it only takes .mp3 and .wav putting a .wma or anything else just gives you a terrible noise. Or at least, mine did.

I just tried to use that but I can't get it to work either. Even with music in the 'sounds' folder or even 'music' folder. I don't know if I'm inputting it wrong in that box or it just doesn't like the file (I don't get any horrid noises though).
Oddly, even if I try to put in sound files that are already in the 'sounds' folder, they don't work either. I just get silence.

For example, there's a file called 'GardenSongs' which I used to test it. I type in GardenSongs or GardenSongs.MPEG and get complete silence.

(And no, I don't have anything on mute)

.mpeg? I don't think those work for FeralHeart. You can make it a .mp3 or a .wav here:
