Post by: Leneka on June 30, 2011, 06:39:45 pm
So Im trying to connect two of my maps useing gates so we dont have to go to the cape to get into each one but when I tried to place the portal and test it in map maker and in the game, nothing happened. Could anyone explain to me how to properly place gates?

You need to write the name on the map in Objects and then Gate Destination in Map Maker, and then click on New Gate ^^

Yes, go to the "Controls" tab in "Map Maker", then where it says "Select Type:" click "Gate," then click your gate that is on the map, then go back over to the "Controls" and click "Delete"

How are you supposed to write the map name you are trying to place a gate to? For my map I am connecting the main map I made to a battlefield map. (the Battlefield file name is Battlefield.fhm) Do I put "Battlefield.fhm" or "Battlefield" or some other name in the box. I have tried both and when I export it and go to the map in the game it says "Map file cannot be found" Help?

Because the gate has a property field of it's own so it's not hard at all?

Just create a gate, then go into the object tab and make sure "gate" is marked, not object or water.

Once you see the white square box around the gate, and  that the object tab shows gate is selected. Go into the objects tab in the map maker, and you will be able to fill in the name battlefield in the mapname box.

It's not hard, just play around with it if these instructions weren't enough. Just make sure you save the map after you added the text for the gate.

I don't have problems in placing the gate. I just would like to know how to name the "Gate Destination" section... For example I am connecting the main map I made to a battlefield map. (the Battlefield file name is Battlefield.fhm) Do I put "Battlefield.fhm" or "Battlefield" or some other name in the "Gate Destination" box?

All the ones I've tried so far have come up in game as saying "Cannot find Map file"
