Do you mean Meshes like you can get in the Object maker, or Objects you want to make out of objects that are already there?

I been playing with the object maker and textures and such, but I haven't been able to actually create a mesh-object like a lamp. What program are you using? I'm using blender, but I still really suck at making identifiable objects XD I need to get better at that before I start worrying about how to get them into the game... So far the best thing I have is...It looks like a sunflower. From the front. The back looks like it exploded. lmao :P

Hmmmmm ideas...

~ Chandeliers! For like palaces....I've been making palaces with the basicsquare mesh lol. Chandeliers are much trickier with only spheres, cones, rings, (yellow crystal textured) vines, and squares to work with... Heh, these will keep you busy.

~ Throne? Like a king/queen chair....ehe, then make a cushion for the royal pups >.> Might have some fun with virtual embroidery and tassels? Curtains?

~ Statues. Of.... Dogs, snakes, tigers, lions, dinosaurs, horses, warriors?
Perhaps you could make some stables - hay bales, stalls, wheelbarrows, water troughs, horses, chickens, cats...Dung! :P Don't ask how I go from statues to stables XD

~ Chariot! Wagon. Covered wagon!
~ Wicker baskets. Bahaha that'll keep you busy...
~ Fireplace. Poor man's fireplace, mud brick...Rich man's fireplace, shiny mantlepiece, chimneys...Lit/Unlit...smoke?
~ Brick wall, because you can! Haha, I have a stone texture for a brick wall XD and pink marble...
~ Couch. Nice and comfy.
~ Grandfather clock. Normal clock. Chinese-style GONG.
~  Shoes. lmao tooo many choices. Wedges, heels, clogs, sandals.... Dresses? Make someone's closet?
~ Book/books/bookshelf/Library!
~ Rock garden and/or bonsai tree, nice and twisted.
~ Frog. Lizard. Chameleon, iguana, bearded dragon, savannah monitor, T-Rex....yeah, those kindsa things...Not sure how good you are at anatomy. lol
~ The Golden Snitch XD
~ Dragon! Mermaid. Fish. Fishtank? Eel. Shark. Turtle. Unicorn...
~ Chain/shackles/iron barred window/door.
~ Forks, spoons, ladles, a pot/cooking skin to hang over the fire, a tripod to hang the pot from for an outdoor fire...
~ ummmm.... A shed. For storing things. Possibly a for smoking meat, storing food/tools, etc....
~ A blacksmiths forge would be interesting. You'd have to look up whatall goes in it though. XD
~ A loom...a spinner wheel for making thread...Spools...
~ horse harness/saddle/reigns to hang in the barn? Spare horse shoes, nails, farrier materials. Shovel...Broom...Hose? Water and feed buckets - feed bins! Feed bags...Grooming materials like curry combs and brushes and the metal combs used for mane pulling...Hoof picks...Saddle rack...
~ Neeeerrr ok my brains puttering out now. lol I like brainstorming like this XD I'll probably come back with more if something cool pops up.

The pictures are my chandelier...it's pretty simple but maybe something to spark an idea.

The chandelier 'tis beautiful! And I wish I could make objects. I have blender, but I don't understand how python or the OGRE exporters work with it so... *A*

Ah!!! I saw a tutorial somewhere on deviantart! I shall find it! Tigerpython/Delayni person uses blender so they were talking about a converter...somewhere....The OGRE converter was something I considered minor until I could make game-worthy objects. XD

And the chandelier was made with all already-there objects in game. Kind of. I stumbled upon the files for colored crystals when I downloaded

http://www.mediafire.com/?ct0mdbz8j20ojc3 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ct0mdbz8j20ojc3)

Which gave me the files - the colored glows and textures, the MATERIAL file documents...all I had to do was figure out how to put them together in the object maker. Which in turn taught me how to combine different tree barks/leaves with different tree shapes (an oak tree with sakura blossom leaves, a 'wooden' palm tree with a bark file where the leaf file should be, etc.) and then I started playing with adding new textures....The crystal files still get me a bit (it is SO fun to make normal-color rocks gleam like the crystals, but I have yet to successfully make my own custom colored crystal.) Errrrr I lose track of my point too easily. o.o

Oh! Yeah, the chandelier was made by a hanging Vine.mesh file with the YellowcrystalMat as the material file. Basic spheres and basic rings and basic cones are the rest. The glow is YellowcrystalGlowMat in the billboard.

If you want a (much) smaller map with the glows you can get this one I made
http://aleakim-selphorian.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3ljn75 (http://aleakim-selphorian.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3ljn75)

Annnndd off to find the converter thing.

Links!

=/ Did not find the one I wanted. But lol I found this!

http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&action=printpage&topic=8475.0 (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&action=printpage&topic=8475.0)

The page is definitely not loading for me. I'll go find another computer and try it. o.o

Edit: The page did load. The text is black. Why this is, I am not sure. crtl+a works...lol It was also a rather confusing tutorial, but I'm still deciding to just not-bother with the converting yet. XD I'll get myself worked up and frustrated about it when the time comes - after I've gotten nice and settled and done pounding my head against the blender-wall. lol

I would use AC3D, but I don't have 80 extra dollars to spend on that... And I know how to use blender, just not what to do with the exporters and python {Most websites don't have an updated guide for the current version of blender [(}

I have a few things to request. And I would adore you forever if you made them and PM'd them to me. :3

1: Elk, deer, caribou, reindeer, moose. All of them if you can but I mostly want the elk/caribou.
2: Different trees and shrubs for scenery. :3 I will PM you the pictures.
3: Cherry blossom tree and an Sequoia Tree. I want the sequoia tree with a hollowed out root. Like a den Pictures in PM.
4: Human houses with human furniture.
5: Dens. Log dens, flower dens, tree dens, any type of dens you can think of. ;3
6: More animals. I really want you to make crocodiles, dolphins, sharks, horses, herons, adult ducks, grizzly bears, fawns, raccoons, squirrels, etc. I just really want you to make more animals. :3
7: Flowers. Pictures in the PM.
8: Cars. Any colors. Boats too. Any type.

I'll PM you pictures of what I mean. ;3 Thank you! I would ADORE you if you made these for me. :3

Some interesting ideas! I didn't even realize I already started doing some of this stuff. You don't need blender to make the dens, certain trees, various shrubs, etc.

I have a sakura (cherry blossom) tree already, from the same map where I got the colored crystal files (linked above.) You can mix and mash textures in the object maker to create different dens - and its super easy to make a texture for a den, rather than making an entire den mesh. Jazz seems to be working more on custom objects than on textures, so maybe if you want a differently shaped den than what the game provides...And yeah you can also mix tree barks and leaf meshes and such. And flowers, though they're kind of funky flowers the game provides.

I'll link some of what I am talking about if Jazz doesn't mind...? And not in picture form so I won't lag up the thread lol. They're just standard objects the game has by default, I think.

Couple more ideas!

Fountain
Ink Pen/feather pen/well
Bone tools, flint scrapers and knives, bead jewelry
Spear, sword
Fence (Different style :D Picket fence, horse pasture type fence, chain link fence?)
Grrrrrizzly bear >.>
Clay pots/urns/bowls/cups <- maybe painted with some aboriginal type designs?

And a few basic objects that would make from-scratch building easier. T

..Like the basicring.mesh, but cut in half so you can walk into a room/tower but can still have a collision for the other side. :P Or even just a ring with a little slice cut out of it for a door. *nod*
A cone with a hollow center would make for some interesting tower rooms, rather than flat-topped.

Any of the basic objects - square, cone, cylinder, etc. would be useful if they had copies that were
1. Hollow (lol ring = hollow cylinder...) and/or
2. Turned on their side - perfectly. Not that almost-straight and almost-level frustration of the Pitch and Roll buttons XD If you're making something over 2000 pixels wide, it has to be straight. >.>
3. Upside down! It's hard to get an ice cream cone perfect. :P

Ohohohoh! New idea. You know how you put a texture on the meshes but it only shows like a big BLOB of the texture? What if we could make pictures....like pictures to hang on walls..........I'm going to go try it!

Edit: I feel like I'm stealing Jazz's thread... >.>' lol But coming up with ideas is giving me ideas too. XD

Edit Again: :3 I have an art gallery now. *twirls* All are my own images. On that wall, anyway...lol the other walls are standard textures, I didn't have enough patience to play with the pitch tool again o.o

Aedre I can't do what you did. It says cannot find the ___.material file. And I tried all the things like ___Mat and stuff. Still didn't work. And the Sakura tree didn't work either. When I typed in the Sakura.mesh an acacia tree came up. :/ Can you tell me how you figured out how to put them together? >.<

Sure ^.^ I love teaching people.

I will move this to a new thread to avoid totally hijacking Jazz's thread though. I'll link it once it is made.

Edit: Ok! The intro is made and awaiting pictures.

D'oh! :P I was gonna mention that just popping into a thread and acting like it was an open-request thread was a bit presumptuous, but it would have been rude to say at the time...Probably still is. o.O

Jazz have you ever had any trouble getting the objects you make to appear in your maps?

:C I apologize. It was just a few of the meshes were kinda complicated like the dens and I wanted you to have photo references. I wasn't as long as it looked. Just the pictures filled it out. I sorry. :C

how do you make the chandelier shine?
Title: Re: cool meshs
Post by: CloudFish on July 24, 2012, 04:05:59 pm
not the place for this, really at all, anymore.

the chandelier was made out of the basic shapes that come with the feral heart game, and then added a glow it seems, via the effect maker.
