Other Mods/Creations / Irish Deer Antlers - Fixed!

Hey, guys~

For those of you who have always admired the various antlers in the many wearable item packs running around here, but have been frustrated with the odd, black and yellow material that show up on the Irish Deer Antlers, you might be happy with this fix (which I'm surprised hasn't popped up before!).


If you have this when you try to wear the irish deer antlers in-game, here's what you do.

Download the exdeerantlers.png texture here and place it in your FeralHeart>>Media>>items folder.


When you've done this, go back in-game and you'll find that you will have these large, mahogany-red antlers, perfect for any deer or deer enthusiast looking to show off their new headgear.

You can find a large item pack up for download here, compiled by our very own Thierry.

Some things to keep in mind...
- This antler texture is a re-colored version of the antler2 texture already in Ringo and Delay's item pack. The original texture goes to its respective creator. I only colorized it and re-named it so it would be compatible with the Irish Deer Antlers available in many item packs.
- This will fix your own antler item, but other users will not be able to see them fully-colored unless they also download this re-texture.

Game Discussion / Favorite Typos?

The title says it all, folks.
We've all been sitting in Fluorite, watching General chat fly by, and then you see it;
That typo.
Not just any typo.
The typo
that makes you just lose your derps and laugh like crazy, probably freaking out anyone you might've been Skype-ing with.

We've all made 'em, so they're still pretty funny, and even more so when they're recurring all across the game.
What are your favorite FH typos?
A few of my favorites:
"loins" -- Lions
"wlof" -- Wolf
"Warrior Cars" -- Warrior Cats
And my personal favorite; "Fodlers" -- Folders.

Keep in mind, of course, that all of this is in good sport, and just a way to share some of those silly missed keys that made you giggle. c:

While I've only made two presets so far, I figured I could still put them here for display, and for download if it's available. I don't take requests, but you may see some new ones pop up every now and then if I create a new one for myself, or if I make one as a gift for a buddy. c:


Allegra

This is Allegra, my main character in my 2 year-old wolf roleplay, Divided Skies, and also my very first preset. Hurr. <3


Those scars that mark her body can only begin to tell the dynamic tale of Allegra's life.
Having been my roleplay character for the past two years, this six-year-old alphess is by far one of my most beloved characters, and I've made some of my closest friends on FH while roleplaying on this red lady.
So.
I'm a bit sentimental, if you can't tell. XD <3
I would post a download for Alle's preset, but with the fact that Divided Skies is currently dormant, and that I may be updating her mane (since I now know the coding to fix it), this one is just here to be viewed.

Hmm, chances are, you've met this pretty fluff before. <3
I'm not sure what my obsession is with him, but perhaps I can attempt to explain it whenever I can get around to making a bio for him. xD
Either way, Linger is my main avatar, and you're very likely to see me playing him out in the public maps, and wherever else I might be derping. c:

Forum Discussion / Favorite Events?

Evenin', folks! (Or whatever time it happens to be for you at the moment. c;>)

So, one day(s) I was poking through the forum.
I saw the 'Competitions and Events' section, and, as it is now, the main event going on right now is the monthly Preset Contest, and it kinda brought back memories of the various events that have been held in the forum (and also a few in-game).
I know my personal favorite was the Art Contest (so much fabulous art<3, I would even like to see another one of these~), and, of course, there have been others, such as Favorite Signature, Best Writer, and if I recall correctly, even some map making contests.

Soo... What did you guys think of these events~? Do you have any favorite events or competitions? Any thoughts on them? :3

Game Discussion / What Music Do You Listen To While Roleplaying?

The title says it all~

What kind of music do you listen to while roleplaying, and why? c:

Personally, having been roleplaying for a few years, I've seen people who do their best in total silence, while others have to have some kind of music to suit their character, or the situation at hand/paw.
I usually have an arsenal of instrumental music, which includes:
- Softer stuff like Brian Brasher's work.
- Movie soundtracks like those from "How To Train Your Dragon" and "Pirates of the Caribbean; At World's End"
- Classical music, like Mozart or Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" and "The Nightingale" (only if I'm in a weird mood), or the music we play in my symphony, which can be any manner of orchestral arrangements.
- I'll also listen to some music with vocals, although it tends to distract me unless it's gentler stuff. Coldplay and Switchfoot are among these.
I guess the reason behind this is that music often brings a certain image to my mind, which helps me focus in and create an atmosphere around my character, and help me bring that out in my writing/posts. I find it a source of inspiration at times.

This horse is by far my oldest 'roleplay' character in my lifetime, considering that he was a toy horse I would always play with at my babysitter's house with my best friend, from the day I got that toy. Cimmy still sits on the desk in my bedroom to this day, with his mate and son, Kate and Browncoat. <3
They're all worn with age and have chipped paint, but in my imagination I still see them running across the magnificent fields of my babysitter's living room floor, living out countless adventures like they used to when I was little. <3

Dated summer 2010, the day school let out my freshman year, sitting in my math class while the long-term substitute teachers taught the rest of the class to play Poker. 'Twas an interesting day.


"Do you have to go?"
I never fully colored this one in, but it was on purpose.
I called it "September," as it was a little tribute, in my own mind, to a very special friend of mine at the time.

Behold an ancient Divided Skies artifact; The first-ever sketch of my oldest and most famous character, Allegra. xD She's missing several of the scars she has now, and also undertook a slight character change since then, but it's still cute, I'd say.
I'd date this back to December 2011.


Pups. <3
Also a Divided Skies sketch, dating back to 12/6/2011. This is a non-canon sketch of Allegra's first litter, with her first (and only true<3) mate, Coda. Top left is Caitir, played by Mafia/Silent Muse. The sleepy-looking baby below her is Cosmos (played by myself), Allegra's lost pup, who never actually met all of her siblings (making this image non-canon to the story). The back/middle is Willow, whose eye I totally messed up (xD), and was played by LilacPetals/GreySkies. The right is Singe, the only boy of the litter, played by Meiari. And finally, the front/center is Kaila, who (as far as Allegra knows) is the last surviving pup fathered by Coda. She's now nearly two years old, and played by Darkwolf5573. <3
You can uh, kinda see how my art has improved since this time. XD

Hoo, boy... It's that satin and cyanide smirk of Lithilace!!! Her full name is Lithium Solace, and is perhaps one of the most intricately developed (and also screwy) characters I have ever had the curse/pleasure to roleplay with. XD Played by Meiari, this eccentric and very unique coy-wolf is a controversial character that is a tortured soul in need of love to some, and a hated villian to others. She is the only wolf Allegra would ever kill in cold blood, if that tells you anything. XD However, I still love this pain in the booty, and Mei for being such a fabulous writer. <3

Allegra again, with the scars a bit more accurate, although this was shortly before her redesign, so it isn't entirely accurate anymore. The tail is too long, the front legs too short, but I still think the expression is accurate for my light-hearted main character. ^-^" In this particular draw, Alle is about 4 years old. (She's 6, now. Har.)

Above is sweet little Racan, a commission I did for Woofkita. :3 It was one of the first times I tried out this pose, and I'm very happy with how he turned out. <3


Above is Linger, my beloved winged lion. <3 I hadn't broken out my old love of drawing wings, obsessing over the anatomy, etc., in a while, but I was very surprised, and pleased, with how this turned out. :D I also noted here that just in these past three drawings, my style improved (look closely at the paws, and you'll see it o-o). My only complaint with this is that the silver bands around his wingfeathers don't look as sparkling as I'd hoped, but that's partly because they were a last-minute addition. -shrug- Either way, I had fun wiff this. <3


Har, this be one of my 'crud collages.' It is as confusing as it looks, (xD), but it's basically what happens, collectively, during my free time at school. I call this a tribute to my junior year of high school.

Lord Suragaha~ I tell you, this was one of my more difficult pieces. While it was still on paper, I went through a total of four different sketches/poses before I made one I was happy with, and that one ended up being a traditional pose. Yet, it still retains the quiet authority I picture this character to have in a state of calm. It turned out pretty snazzy, if I might say so myself. c8

Now, it's evident that I had a bit of trouble with this one... I wanted to challenge myself and have a forward-facing profile, that way the distinctions between the markings on each side of his body can be seen.

A request for Crinni, and yet another pose I've never tried before, particularly with a lioness (ligress? o:) I usually have a fluffier character whose fur would help cover some of the any anatomical features that were giving me trouble, but this pose was very open, and even without the extra floof, she turned out great. <3

I tried out a new pose, and to be honest I'm really very happy with it!


Another, long-awaited request for Thrillex! <3 That is, her other character, Skrillex. c; Cyan, teal, and white all over, I had a time working with this guy's pose, but I love how he turned out.


A little side project I whipped up, which I call a my 'floaty-thingies'. I can make multiple versions of these in a fairly short amount of time, so if you'd like me to make you one of my floaties, just let me know. Even if main requests are closed, just tell me your favorite colors, and I can whip up a floaty for chu. <3


This is something I threw together messily in my biology class, and yes, it is a horse with a dinosaur head.

Forum Suggestions & Ideas / An Idea for the Help Boards

Goood morning/afternoon, everyone~

As I've been poking through the Help sections these past few months, I've noticed a few recurring oddities.
Firstly, there's this issue with so many people disregarding the fact that bans may not be discussed in the Help Boards. Now, for those of us who know those boards fairly well, we know that the first page of the Big Help board clearly states "Bans may not be discussed."
However, with the introduction of the Child Boards (Game/Site + Forum Help), it seems that more than a few members are completely overlooking the main Help and skipping straight to the specific child boards. These boards lack a sticky at the top that specify "Not For Bans."
Now, I know we can't expect every floof who walks in there to be aware of this (it's just a fact of life when dealing with large groups of people-- somebody's gonna miss something), but I'm just taken aback sometimes when I go into the Help sections and find new locked threads, for the same exact reasons (regarding bans), on a daily basis. Not long ago there were five locked, ban-related threads on a single page. It just concerns me a bit.

Rolling with that, my next observation is the slightly less frequent, but still reccurring, confusion between the Game / Site + Forum Child Boards. Granted, it does sound silly. Game Help for the game, Site + Forum Help for the site and forum. Yes?
However, I still find myself walking into Help threads from members in Site + Forum Help, that ought to be in Game Help, or vice versa.
I believe this particular kind of confusion is based on less critical thinking on a thread-starter's part when they go to ask for help. For example, if someone is having an issue with Map Maker, they'll come onto the forum (which in some cases this is the first time since registration), and see "Help." They click this, and they're led to the two Child Boards. They see Game Help, then Site + Forum Help. In most cases, Game Help makes the most sense, but some might equate being in the forum with any of their posts for help. And so, because they're in the forum, they figure their thread should go into Site + Forum Help. Conversely, someone looking for Forum Help might post in Game Help because they associate everything about FeralHeart, including the forum, with being part of the game.

So, what's my point, here?
Seeing that the Help Boards are all very frequented, it seems to me that both of these issues could be addressed (and to an extent, resolved) if both boards had a little extra clarification within them as to what they are for. For example, the same way this Inputbox has a sticky thread at the top to explain exactly what goes into this board, perhaps the same could be done for Game Help and Site + Forum Help.
Or, the same way Game Discussion has its sticky that states very distinctly, "!! No help threads here !!", these Help boards could have one that reiterates not to discuss bans, or something along those lines. As well as the no-ban-talk clarification, these sticky threads could also explain what makes the Game Help section what it is, and what makes Site + Forum what it is. It would be much harder to miss, especially for those who go directly from the main forum Index to one of the Child Boards, and it would assure that the helpers who mainly specialize in just one of these boards are there to help out with the issues they do best in.

Site/Forum Help / Shortening URLs For Le Forumz (Solved)

AHAHA, I'm the one asking for help this time around.

So, as I've been running around here, I've noticed that many floofs have links in their bios, or perhaps signatures, that are simply a single word (or a few of them) that looks a lot like This. You click on it, it leads to another link, etc. However, I haven't been able to figure out the coding for this.

So, my question is, what is the code for a quick link?

Hey, y'all. <3
So... Lemme put a little bit of an intro, here.
My name is WhiteLightHeart, and I joined the FeralHeart community sometime in March of 2011.
So, about three years ago, now, working our way into a fourth year.
I've been very active in-game since then, but it wasn't until about a year ago that I really took to the FeralHeart forums.
And I'm pretty glad I did. c;

So, with that said, let's get to le Bio, no?

So, who is WhiteLightHeart?
Out there in the in the real world?
My real name is Kayla, I'm 18, and I'm a rising sophomore in Music Education in college. Outside of my time on FeralHeart, I've basically developed my identity in music since high school, where I was the epitome of the "band geek," and was the leader of my school's marching band my senior year. I'd made the All-State Concert Band for my state, I played principal trumpet in my area's youth symphony, and nowadays I'm working my way along in my music department's trumpet studio.
Once I have my bachelor's degree in music education, I'll be qualified to teach any K-12 level of instrumental music, but I hope to also go on and master Trumpet Performance (perhaps at a conservatory somewhere, funds permitting) and be able to teach in my own trumpet studio someday. Such excite. <3
As you could probably guess, I love music, but arts in general have always captivated my imagination. I draw, I write a little, and... Yeah, I'm your neighborhood music and art flargy.
Also, I work as a hostess at an Outback restaurant. Holla.
Now, in game?
As I said earlier, I've been active in FeralHeart since 2011.
For the first two years, I was mostly a roleplayer, and spent majority of my times back in private maps in my old wolf RP, Divided Skies. It was started by Wolffox and Starlitewolf, who later trusted it in my hands, but would stop in to RP with us once in a while, too. I made some dear friends here, such as Starry and Wolffie (of course~), Darkwolf5573, Wolf Memories, Oreos (whose in-game username I cannot remember entirely <8D), Meiari, and oodles of others whom I love very dearly. We made fantastic memories here, and I wouldn't take them back for anything. <3
After two years, though, DS did slow down, and so we're on a hiatus until further notice.

When this did happen, though, it was around early 2013 that I got into the forums a bit more, and I found myself rather enjoying myself while getting to know the community and its members, and helping users where they might need it. I was offered a staff position later on, and about a year later, I'm honored now with a spot on the admin panel. I don't have quite so much time to roleplay anymore, but the opportunity to work alongside the staff here and the many wonderful souls out there who offer their time and great attitudes to the community have made the experience a blessing, and I'm hoping we can continue right along with this in the form of new events, contests, or whatever else we have at our disposal to make FH a better place for anyone who'd like to join us.
