Game Discussion / Re: Procreate for Maps/Presets?
« on: March 27, 2020, 10:37:03 pm »
I've used Procreate before, but never to make presets
It should be repetitively easy, the only issue I think you might come across is exporting the images to a computer/laptop to keep testing if the preset looks right, if you're impatient like me (':

I'd love to see a procreate-made preset if anyone as made one

Do you have experience using procreate with height masks? It keeps crashing on me, trying to set the image to grayscale but there's no way to do that on procreate? :o

Game Discussion / Procreate for Maps/Presets?

Has anyone here had any experience in using procreate on an iPad rather than GIMP to export map masks and presets?

The Realm of Spirits is a land far from our reach, vast and beautiful. It is full of life, blessed by the four elements themselves, for this land is of their design and being. Earth, water, fire, and air sculpted their home with their own hands, making life aplenty here, for the magick of the spirits make the ground rich, the water sweet, the air refreshing and the sun aplenty. Prey here is abundant, the natural cycle never ceased - and it was with these luxuries that the wolves that called this land home began to notice; this land was blessed. It was only then did they hear the whispering of the trees, the babble of the brook, the song in the wind and the hiss within the fire, that these gentle songs were guidance from the earth. The whispers of the four spirits - earth, water, fire, and air. They said that in exchange for the wolves’ protection and praise, they would grant them magick, attune to the earth and its powers.

The packs here have realized the importance of this land and the natural balance, and their fight is to maintain the protection of their homes and the spirits that reside. In return for their bravery, the spirits grant them with abilities of the giving earth, the raging waters, the whistling winds and the crackling fire. Because these abilities are tied to the earth; if the grass begins to wither in your territory, or the prey begin to leave - your abilities will, as well. The smartest of these wolves know that true power lies in the balance of all six packs - but it’s easier said than done.

If you're looking for a fully immersive roleplay experience, look no further! Spirits of The Wild is going to be a large, fully mapped roleplay with six detailed, expansive maps to create whole realm to explore. There will be six packs in total, as we aim to create a community from this roleplay that encourages the creativity and input from it's players. Spirits of The Wild aims to not only be a whole new realm to escape to, but a safe space for it's players to escape the stress of daily life. If this interests you, please check us out, for we have a lot to offer!

WHAT ARE WE?
Spirits of the wild will be a fully mapped, semi-realistic wolf roleplay with underlying fantasy plot lines and pagan undertones. We aim to roleplay in game to create an immersive experience, giving our roleplayers plenty of land to explore and plenty of opportunities to create their own stories within this massive realm. We are still very new, and are seeking dedicated leaders and staff to help us bring this vision to life.

Each pack is designated to a map, each map with a unique environment that is specifically it's own. The mountains, the forests, the marshlands, the prairies, the dunes, and the islands - each with an opportunity to plot your own pack, design it's hierarchy, and explore the beautiful maps made just for you and your pack. The six maps will be connected through "realistic" portals, meaning yes, you have to travel through the other maps to reach the others! We urge you to explore this realm like a whole new world at your fingertips, with no limit on characters for you to create! You can check out the territories here! The elements listed within this document are the elemental abilities confined to each pack. Yes, they have elemental powers! (Nothing too strong!)

Game Discussion / Re: Now Is The Time...
« on: March 26, 2020, 05:53:55 pm »
I agree! I just bought a new laptop because I missed the game so much, and what better time to map make then when in quarantine!

I think we should consider promoting ourselves in other roleplaying communities as well! We have such an open sandbox of creative options in this game that I think are slept on, and we know calming and creative is on the rise right now! (Think animal crossing.) If we promote ourselves in furry/animal based roleplay communities, I'm sure we will see some new members interested in joining. I myself would love to see this game blossom into what it used to be. We truly had such a beautiful and creative community. I've been on this game since 2012, and I know a few friends of mine who miss the nostalgia too.

Change starts with us guys. I know the staff may be swamped with real life issues, and I understand. But let the community help you. If you can't pass down the responsibilities entirely, share them. It makes my heart happy to see there's people coming back and looking for the community that FeralHeart used to be. If there's any way to help the staff in rebooting this game, I am here to help!

Game Discussion / Re: The mixed future of FeralHeart

I've been a member of this game since 2012. That's 7 years - wow, I feel old. This game is definently a huge form of nostalgia for me. Whenever I used to play when I was younger, I'd get up extra early just to hop on FH before the servers got too full; anyone else remember that? I've met people I'm still friends with now, and some old friends I still think about from time to time. I think this game has a wonderful sense of community and enough members who are eager enough to keep it alive to do something, to push the game in the right direction, but if we keep letting it go on how it is now, it's only a matter of time before the game dies out for good.

The new maps are nice, all the extra bits and changes that the staff has made to the game have been wonderful, but they're not enough. You can change the aesthetics of a game all you want, but they're forgetting to use FeralHeart's biggest strength to their advantage - community.

I think registration needs to be open, always. This game isn't as popular as it used to be and less and less people know about it. It's mostly in the minds of nostalgic, young adults like me, and I'm sure, a lot of you. We need to bring in new kitties, young roleplayers like how we used to be, get the name back out there again and make FeralHeart known again. Doing so might even bring back more Veteran members, too.

Bringing back General Chat wouldn't hurt, either. Again, the staff should bank off the community atmosphere, and you can't have a community without communication. I understand the point of this game is to roleplay, but sometimes, people just want to chat with one another. General Chat was how I met my best friend of 6 years now. If spam was the problem there, then we need more supervision in the chats. No matter the game, if there's a chat box, there's spam. I hear the argument that General Chat was too broad of a chat, that everything got too muddled together; a General Chat for, well, chatting, and an Advertisement Chat for roleplays. Movie is frustrating to use, and never enough room to communicate your ideas to other people. It's made advertising hard and kind of frustrating. The two chats would allow people to toggle in between and turn off the fast-moving General Chat to focus on local, group, or ad making. Bringing back this feature may even allow for some mire Veterans to return.

Again, I don't think FeralHeart will die, but I think it's hanging on a string right now. If the handful of people who still care about and love this game act soon, we might be able to breath some life back into the game.

Thank you so much for your interest in this roleplay! I'm sure you want to know the basics of this roleplay; so let me explain a little of what was mentioned above. We are a mapped roleplay; the map is still a very large work in progress, but is intended to hold four seperate packs and spacious territories inside, with different geographical features and styles. Like I said, this is going to be a large map, and packed with trees and greenery, and lots of area to explore! Stated above, is the term 'literate'. Literate, in this sense, simply means that you are able to produce at least a paragraph worth of roleplay, and follow a story format. Spelling errors and grammar errors can be overlooked, you don't have to be perfect! This roleplay is intended to be semi-realistic, although the plot can be swung either which way, whether it be more realistic or far more fantastical. As of right now, semi-realistic just means that pelt colors should not be neon pink, your characters shouldn't have wings, etc, etc. (Y'all know what I mean, haha.)

Now, fully immersive - this is probably the part that you have some questions on. By fully immersive, I intend for Knorwood to be a whole new realm, in which players are able to affect and contribute to the plot, constantly having to face new challenges and changes. Because I intend for this roleplay to be very hands-on, I need a dedicated staff to help not only help me manage this roleplay, but to help me build it as well. If you desire to mold a pack of your choosing, on a map that you get to help build without actually having to build, this is the perfect opportunity for you. If you have kept reading this far, I will explain what type of positions I am looking for, and hopefully something peaks your interest! Again, I need truly dedicated staff members that I can depend on to be active!

The plot so far is very simple; allowing us to lay upon more ideas, and for staff and early members to help build a foundation for the whole story to come. The land is divided among four packs, which are loosely based off the four elements; fire, water, earth, and air. This roleplay is not intended to be filled with elemental powers, instead, I intended that these four separate packs follow a separate deity based off their 'element'. (However, if the roleplay swings that way the roleplay swings that way, haha.)

The red line outlines the territory of 'fire', their terrain is rougher and far more rugged than the rest of the land. Because of the tremendous strength it takes to overcome their territory, wolves from this pack will probably be stronger built and able to climb up and down rugged rocks.

The blue outlines the territory of 'water', their terrain is much gentler, and bordered by water and marshes. It takes a skilled and sleek frame to navigate through these watery lands, so wolves from this pack will probably be lighter in build, but talented swimmers.

The green outlines the territory of 'earth', their terrain is full of lush greener, and is very, very easy to get lost in. It takes a skilled mind and gentle paws to navigate through their territory, so wolves from this pack will probably be lighter in build, very agile, and talented navigators.

The purple outlines the territory of 'air', their terrain is full of meadows and sweeping willows, with open ponds and large, vast hills. It takes swift and certain moves to make it in their territory, so wolves from this pack will probably be agile in build (built for running and stalking), with powerful legs to launch them into action.

Terrain mask by Genesis199 on deviantart, thank you!

The in-between areas are 'no man's land', areas in which neither territory claims and should be free to everyone in the land. (this typically includes bordering rivers, lakes, etc, as long as each stays on their own side of the bank.) No-man areas are safe for loners, although safety and peace is not guaranteed. The vastly unclaimed area with the island is the gathering point for all four packs, to discuss issues, and meet once a month. It is intended to be a space of peace; absolutely no physical dysfunction among disputing packs, no matter the circumstances.

So where do you come in? I am looking for members who are interested in contributing to the plot through discord chats, and are dedicated in helping build this realm. I am looking for pack leaders who are ready to build, plot, and recruit, as well as make this roleplay a priority (real life comes first, obviously.) and with a genuine passion for seeing it grow. I am looking for active staff members who are ready to help out with forums, recruiting, managing, and more. Most of all, I'm just looking for dedicated people. I would love to see this roleplay blossom into a fully-immersive world in which we can all get lost in for a bit after a long day, a community in which everybody is included, in which we can find joy in. But to do this, I need your help.

We are CURRENTLY SEEKING!

- Dedicated staff members who are ready to help recruit!

- Dedicated members who are interested in helping plot and world-build, and possibly take on high ranks within the pack.

- Four willing players who are willing to play important roles in this plot, please ask me for more details if you're interested

- Although I have some experience with making forums, someone who knows how to make aesthetically pleasing forums would be a tremendous help to
the roleplay! Basically, someone to help build our website!

I hope if you've made it this far you are genuinely interested in Knorwood. If you are looking to fill any of the positions above, or simply want to hop on board once this roleplay is up and running, please message me via forum, or on discord. (mysty#1162) I very much hope to see this roleplay take off, and to build a community and immersive roleplaying world!
