How To Make Your Own Materials For Objects!
« on: April 23, 2014, 05:02:54 am »
(This is a pretty old thread, so it doesn't explain things very well sorry)

Hello there! Balto here! I'm here to show you how to make materials/textures for objects!

First, Go to the FeralHeart folder.

And click Media.
Then go to Objects and then go to Rocks. This is what you might see. ((I downloaded a lot of FH stuff so... xD))
Copy a material.

And paste it on your desktop.

Then rename it to whatever you want. I'll rename it to Tutorial.

Now open it. ((If you don't know how to open materials in notepad, Click the spoiler.

Then select Notepad. :3
))
As you open it, You'll see all this coding.

Erase some of it till it looks like this.

Now see those two areas?

"material rockMat" is the name of the material and "texture rockTex.jpg" is the texture of the material.
Erase the "rockMat" and the "rockTex.jpg" and then type in whatever the name you want for your material. I'll name it "TutorialMat". And for the texture I'll name it "TutorialTex.jpg" But we need a texture, Don't we? You will need any type of drawing program I believe, I'll use Gimp.
With some materials, They usually are .png or .jpg, I'll use a .jpg. They can also be any size you want. But for right now I'll just use a image based off of a item from a game. 83
So name the image the same as what you typed in the material, "TutorialTex" And make sure its the same file you typed. "jpg" or "png" whatever you used! :3 So move the material and the image to My_Objects in the FeralHeart folders. Then open FeralHeart and go to the Object maker. And load any type of default FeralHeart object you want. I'll use ceiling.mesh.

In the Object maker, You see that Material box in the Mesh section?

Type in the material name there.

And there you go! Hope this tutorial helped! 83
