Avatar Animation?
« on: March 25, 2012, 02:19:14 pm »
Hai, im wanting my avatar to be animated but im wondering how to do that. I thought about making one in movie maker then save as a watchable movie clip. Its not a .MSWMM file which is what movie maker saves files as. I dont know what file type it is. Anyway i tried uploading it and used the url but nothing happened. My avatar wasnt there and nothing happened. So i changed it back.

How?

upload a gif image. Gimp allows you to make Gif images, and so does Photoshop. You just have to put the different parts of the image as different layers then save it as a Gif. There should be more explanation online, I'm not too sure of the exact details, half the time I just guess with Gimp XD

Thanks guys, very helpful information. One question though, with the GIMP one is there any particular size the image has to be. 513x513, 1000x300? Get what im saying here?

Not sure about if there's any limitations in gimp for making a gif, but if I remember correctly, the forums standard size is 100x100 pixels for the avatars, which means the image will become that size even if you make it twice the size, at least heightwise.

Ok then, thanks Red.

So do the images just have to be layered on top of each other? No transparency between them? Im also unsure on how to save it, i dunno what options to choose.

I'm pretty sure you need to save it as a .GIF
