Game Discussion / Common Character Names
« on: November 15, 2015, 06:18:16 pm »
What would you say is the most common character name you see in the Feral Heart game? Some of the more common names I see people use for their characters are "Shadow", "Moon", "Mist", or "Jade". There's plenty others. What do you think is the most common of character names?

Game Discussion / I'm Curious About This
« on: October 16, 2015, 11:15:28 pm »
Lately I've been seeing new trends going when it comes to people writing about their character in the bios. One trend I've seen people doing is adding some questionable detail in their bio. Some people are putting stats and information like:
"Sexually Active: [X]" ([X] meaning "Yes")
"Mated: (7 times, 3 times forced)"
"Raped: (4 times)"

I have wondered if that type of information in a character biography is necessary, or even appropriate for Feral Heart. Does it break Feral Heart rules, or no? I'm just curious.  :-\
What do you think about this?

Game Discussion / What Does a Username Tell You?
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:08:21 am »
The other day I was listening in on a casual conversation. The conversation started with literacy, then got into usernames. One of the people in the convo stated something like, "You can always tell a person's age or literacy level by the username they have. Those who have clever or well-thought of usernames with proper punctuation and spelling (DiamondEye, Spirit of Silence, Lord of Nightfall, Waffle House) are more literate, mature, and serious about roleplaying. While usernames that are random letters, numbers, or cliche titles (Xxwolfgirl438xX, fnafFan90012, LilaDaWolf123, mmny210, 670flower, cRaYoLa11) are either young kids, trolls, unskilled roleplayers, noobs, or all of the above."
(Note: the usernames listed are made up, and just examples of what he/she was talking about)

To me, the username doesn't determine if a person is illiterate, literate, young, old, mature, immature, serious, trolly, and so on. I've seen people with "silly usernames" do some amazing roleplaying, and acting mature. Judging a player by their username is like judging someone based on their character.

The question is DOES IT MATTER? Does it really matter? Do you think a person's username will determine what kind of member they are in the FH community? Will it determine their literacy, age, maturity, roleplay style, etc?
Why or why not?

Game Discussion / Why is Blocking Considered Offensive and Rude?
« on: September 05, 2015, 02:46:57 am »
As the title pretty much asks... why do some people get offended and take it so personal if someone blocks them for whatever reason? Just the other day someone got all butt-hurt and started throwing a bit of a fit because someone blocked them for "spamming the chats", which they were. So let me get this straight, you intentionally spam the local chat with nonsense giberish, and when someone blocks you for it you get offended and all "how dare they!"?

So why do some people get all upset if someone blocks them? It's not like they are going to block you forever.... Well maybe they will, but still. Don't take it personally.

Game Discussion / What Are Your Thoughts on Nursing?
« on: April 25, 2015, 05:25:08 am »

No, not that kind of nursing

That kind of nursing

There have been only a few times I've seen people in roleplays act out a mother nursing her young. Like Warrior she-cat queens nursing her kittens, or one time a wolf nursing her young pups. I think it's no big deal, because it happens in real life. However, I've seen some people express how they think it's disturbing that people would roleplay a scene of a mother animal nursing her young. For example, the other day I was on my unicorn character and my friend was on playing the role of her little foal. The foal would sometimes go up to her mother to nurse for a bit. Then someone was like, "Eww that's gross!" I was like, "What? Do you mean the foal nursing?" and they replied, "Yes. Why would you let the foal nurse from you? Thats nasty to watch." They started scolding us like we were being offensive and breaking rules. The other roleplayers around us thought nothing of it. In fact, some were saying that it's a natural thing to happen between a mare and her foal, as well as other mammals.
I've seen another situation happen when there were these jaguar roleplayers. The mother jaguar was nursing her two cubs, and someone called them out saying they were being inappropriate. I didn't think the jaguar roleplayers were doing anything wrong, but a couple of people did. They weren't roleplaying in a vulgar way, not that I thought. But I guess it depends on other people's views.

I do know that nursing a baby in public has become a controversial topic in America. Some people think nothing of it, while others think it's offensive and sexual. Has this kind of mentality spread to Feral Heart as well?

What are your thoughts on roleplay nursing? Does it bother you, or do you not really care?

Game Discussion / Elderly Characters
« on: April 15, 2015, 06:09:07 pm »
Whenever I read a character biography, I've noticed that a majority of adult characters age range is 2-4 years of age (for cat, dog, wolf characters mostly). Once in a blue moon do I find any characters that are above the age of 5-6 years, or what would be known as their senior years. I have a couple of characters who are considered to be senior citizens in the animal world. During roleplays, some people ask,
"Why is your character so old?"
"Wouldn't you rather have one that's young and in the prime of their life?"
I'm like, "Is there something wrong with my character's old age? I didn't know it was weird to have an elderly character." In roleplays I like a little bit of age diversity among the characters. Not everyone has to be the exact same age, do they?

I find it most funny when it comes to the ones who mate-beg toward my middle-aged characters, and when they find out how old they are, they are like, "Eww! You're way to old!" Well I hate to break it to you, but it's sometimes the older and more experienced animals that get mates during the mating season. Example, deer/moose/elk antlers get bigger and more tines/points the OLDER they get. The does/cows are more attracted to the larger antlers from the OLDER stags/bucks/bulls, instead of the little-racked, inexperienced yearlings and 2-year-olds.

So is there anything wrong with having a character who isn't a spring chicken? I really don't think so.

Lately I've been roleplaying in Bonfire island to roleplay as a unicorn character. A couple people have stated that the presence of mythical/unrealistic characters has been ruining their realistic roleplays. They say that even if the unrealistic characters haven't been roleplaying with the realistic characters. They say things like, "I'm tired of seeing the powerplay posts. It makes me sick." or "Why are there so many dragons around the horses/deer?" "We don't want any powerplaying from the dragons!" "The mythical beasts always cause trouble!" That's not always true.

So do unrealistic characters really ruin roleplays for those who are trying to roleplay realistically?

My answer is.... *inhale*... it depends on the situation really. If there is an unrealistic character (a dragon for example) that is minding their own business and roleplaying with other dragons, not powerplaying, and playing fair, then why should people complain? Now if said dragon was going around, powerplaying, insta-hitting/insta-killing other characters, and interrupting a group of people who are roleplaying a serious/realistic-based roleplay, then yes. That's my opinion. Most of the time when I roleplay as my unicorn characters, they act more "mortal" than most of the dragons/gryphons around us. No one seems to complain too much about my unicorns.... except one person, who said my unicorn couldn't hang around them because they were unrealistic.

I witnessed some horse roleplayers who said to a Pegasus character, "We would rather not roleplay with unrealistic characters", then some dragon character got all mad about it saying they weren't being fair to the Pegasus. I think the horses had a right to not participate in roleplaying with someone who was doing a more fantasy-based roleplay. They weren't trying to be rude about it, but some took it personal. Then someone said something like, "Unrealistic characters always ruin everything!"

What do you think?

Game Discussion / New Character Bio Words/Trends?
« on: March 17, 2015, 02:37:52 am »
It seems like there's a new trend going on in character biographies. Lately I've been noticing the word "molly" being used for "female" in people's character bios. Has "molly" become the new "fae"? Where did this molly word come from and why are people using it to substitute for "female"? Is it a new bio trend or a wolfspeak word? I'm just curious.
I've also noticed that more and more character bios list their characters as being "pansexual" or "omnisexual". I had to look up the terms on urban dictionary to see what they meant.

Have you noticed this, or seen any other new character biography trends? I'm curious.

Introduction / Guess Who's Back
« on: January 26, 2015, 08:32:02 pm »
Lady Alizarin, that's who.  :)

I've decided to come back to Feral Heart. I've missed the community so much really. So I've decided to give FH another chance and log back into the forums.

Where have I been? I've been on other gaming communities. They aren't the friendliest, let's just say that.... but the games sure are fun. Was beginning to worry that their hostile ways might rub off on me.
Also, I've been really busy with life. College, work, etc. So even though I'm coming back to Feral Heart I might not be as active as I once was.

I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces, and getting to know the not-so-familiar faces around here.

It's good to be back.
:D
