Why is Blocking Considered Offensive and Rude?
« on: September 05, 2015, 02:46:57 am »
As the title pretty much asks... why do some people get offended and take it so personal if someone blocks them for whatever reason? Just the other day someone got all butt-hurt and started throwing a bit of a fit because someone blocked them for "spamming the chats", which they were. So let me get this straight, you intentionally spam the local chat with nonsense giberish, and when someone blocks you for it you get offended and all "how dare they!"?

So why do some people get all upset if someone blocks them? It's not like they are going to block you forever.... Well maybe they will, but still. Don't take it personally.

To exactly answer that question... I dunno. I can only assume it's just sensitivity, since clearly people don't like being ignored and sometimes would rather be told what was wrong rather than be blocked. Now if they're obviously trying to annoy you even when you tell them to stop... That would be /kinda/ immature of them, and is exactly what the block button is used for to be honest. Likely it will help them learn not to by then, but I think respect is important.

I don't want to seem like a know-it-all but just a thought on this subject. You know what I'm trying to say, at least?

I guess they'd feel offended because the person blocking them may-or-may not give them a good reason to why they've been blocked, they either know or they don't. That's just the way I See it. But as said above, it could be all sorts of matters.

These people need some Freckled Jesus in their life.

It's usually just sensitivity or immaturity.
One half of FeralHeart is mature 13+ and then the other half is immature children under 13, so I can see why a certain member would throw a fit.
But if I was the person blocking them, I would have told them that they were spamming, which is annoying and against the rules then block them so they wouldn't feel too offended. They'd know I had a reason why to block them.

I think some people just can't accept the fact that not everyone will want to be their friend xD Maybe it's some strange human instinct of being social and wanting to please everyone. Perhaps it's also that feeling of wondering why someone blocked you that makes people hate being blocked so much. It makes a person question what they did wrong or if it's a problem with themself. Interesting question.

Most people feel offended because they want to keep up with what a person is doing who they may have gotten into arguments with, I guess it really all depends on the person. And how much they themselves block others and how many people block them. Personally I don't like blocking people, but that's just me. But like others have said it is probably based around how sensitive they are, and it can be considered a personal thing when you block someone.
