Asymmetrical preset problem?
« on: September 19, 2016, 01:39:54 pm »
Hey yall, I'm trying to make a doublesided preset right now but it won't work!! I tried to do it before and succeeded, thanks to tutourials on the forums, but this knowledge has been lost when I installed the update.

Long story short, I'm trying to do exactly what I did last time, but it won't work!
I looked on the forums, and all of the images for the tutorials are gone, which makes the tutorials useless?? There's only two video tutorials and one doesn't work and the other doesn't even explain it.

I would like it if someone experienced could tell me what to do? This is a project that I've been meaning to do for a long time and I'd hate for my lack of experience to ruin it.

For more info:
I renamed my body parts preset_1bodyL/preset_1bodyR (that's what I had done last time I attempted making an asymmetrical preset) and change the coding in the material thing (renaming it to texture preset_1bodyL and so on) and the body turns out white no matter what I do.

Is it possible that you could post your code as well as a screenshot of your image files? It's most likely a naming issue, as it's important that your image names and coding corresponds exactly. Capital letters count too~

Like said earlier, could you share the code exactly with us? Otherwise I can't say what's really wrong. ^^'
But, I suggest making sure that you either have .jpg or .png at the end of the name, and that it corresponds with the file type of the textures.

ALSO, after taking a quick glance into one of my preset material files (forgive me if this is just a typo), I'd just like to take note on that you said you made the texture lines, "texture_preset_1bodyL/R". That's incorrect. It SHOULD look like this: "texture preset_1bodyL/R".

Yeah, like I said, I didn't have the code in front of me so I tried to remember it the best that I could. I'll correct it :0c

Anyway, here are the screenshots (I have only made the body so far, which is why the rest of the preset parts are not included)

Sorry for the delay!!

Did you make sure that the files are indeed .jpg and not .png? I would also try exporting them as .png and changing the coding accordingly. It's helped me sometimes.

Oh my god yall, I can't believe this. Turns out I was doing everything right, but I didn't save when exiting the notepad because it seemed like it was saving automatically. Though the coding seemed to stay, I guess it never took effect?

Anyway, I saved this time around and it worked. I'm sorry to have wasted your time with my cluenessness uvu''

I will go ahead and lock this up since the issue appears to have been fixed. No need to worry about forgetting to save-- I think we all do it at some point. c:
