Secure Content?
« on: February 26, 2012, 04:18:22 am »
It was fine until it started saying "Only showing secure content" on nearly every page I try to go to!
On the forums it says:

Please Don't Block Our Ads
They Keep The Game Free For You To Play

I don't block ads. I don't even know HOW!
and if I tell it to show "All Content" it forces me to refresh the page.
This is really annoying!  >:(
How do I make it stop?!
(I can't post smilies with it there, I have to refresh and rewrite my post! xP)

According to the Chrome help page, it appears that the ads aren't secured with HTTPS. Because of this, "visitors to the site run the risk that attackers can interfere with the website and change the script so as to serve their own purposes." (Read more at https://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1342714.)

I'm not sure if this presents an actual threat or not, but I'm not going to load the ads for now just in case there IS a potential risk.

my new laptop has chrome, and I hit load once and I haven't had the issue since? And there is no threat, otherwise those who don't block the ads would be having issues or whatever XD And I didn't have any problems before.

I've only recently experienced this, as Alicia says, it's a new policy Google has placed on its browser. However, like Kyugima says, there is not threat, otherwise prior to this policy, you would have had problems with the site. However clicking the ads could cause possible problems, but that is your own fault if you fall prey to ads, same as any other site or forum.

Basically, hitting "Load anyway" will not do your computer any harm.

This is caused by the Administrator's incorrect usage of HTTPS/TLS and mixing HTTP with HTTPS content, mixing content can negate the protection HTTPS is giving you so your browser gives you a chance to prevent that from happening.

Loading the insecure content just means you're at risk of losing the extra protection HTTPS is giving you.

I'm not sure if this presents an actual threat or not, but I'm not going to load the ads for now just in case there IS a potential risk.
There is a potential risk, but it's not really something you need to be concerned about.

Yeah, I've been getting that little annoying message too. I mean, its not annoying or anything, but its just a yellow bar on top below the tab bar on Chrome, its not so bad.

Clicking it just refreshes the page, so I just "X" it out.

"Whatever will be, will be."
