Game Help / Portals will not appear; maps won't appear

I've got an issue where portals won't show or appear. I've tried changing the portal look with a mod, but it won't show like the game won't import the map into the game.
I've found one thread (for importing/installing maps), and it did not work.

It could be that I don't exactly process information in the same way others may, I might have done something wrong. Or the fact that it's based upon an older version of the game.
