Preterali (Motley Hybrids)
« on: June 01, 2012, 05:47:22 am »

Species name:
Preterali

Classification:
Hybrids

Information:
The Preterali (derived from the English word "preternatural", meaning something unusual or out of the ordinary course of nature) or Motley Hybrids, are a rare species of tenuous numbers, belonging intrinsically to no particular species, but rather a whole menagerie of different animal types along the vast spectrum of tetrapods. What defines the Preterali from other animal types are multifarious genetic traits shared with other species seemingly at random - the most notable of such being varied markings. Due to the obfuscated genetic make-up of their species, Preterali are either more inclined to aggression and obstreperous behaviour, or the antipode - to diffidence, and ofttimes cordiality when the prior is not capable of being maintained. They are believed to be a result of perpetuated inter-species breeding, as with any one member of the Preterali, it is nigh impossible to trace their primordial biological ancestors to any singular point. Aside from aggression or lack thereof, the Preterali are inclined to adopt other traits such as canine pack-behaviour displayed in members of the "base" felidae class (presuming there was cross-breeding between the two distinct classes of felidae and canidae) or the antithesis, and other vicissitudes depending on any given scenario.

Preterali Form

If you wish to make a Preterali, the form of requisite information is as follows:

<Picture>
Name:

Age:

Personality:

Gender:

Siblings: (if N/A, leave blank)

Parents/Guardians: (if N/A, leave blank)

A terse biography for the record-tomes:

Accepted Preteralis

Name:
Jedrek (Jed) Clyfton

Age:
Three human years

Personality:
Although he has a rather dangerous appearance, Jed is quite gentle and friendly. He would much rather talk than fight in most situations (though he'd likely win a battle in either forms of fighting). He's often quiet around others but can show more personality once he spends some time with them. Jed likes to think, and at some stage early in his life he thought about his name, and noticed how the K at the end of Jedrek and the C at the start of Clyfton clashed. So from then on he's usually gone with the nickname "Jed". He often carries a tired expression. Sometimes he tries to hide it, but usually he can't be bothered. This is just a small reflection of how he feels on the inside - tired and worn out. Jed is afraid of heights because his body is large and powerful, but not agile. He isn't built to dangle around in tree limbs or climb mountains.

Gender:
Male

Siblings:
Abby (deceased)

Parents/Guardians:

A terse biography for the record-tomes:
Jed used to be more playful and outgoing, but that changed when he lost his sister. Upon leaving his parents to start life on his own, he was trusted to take Abby along with him, protecting her and teaching her until she could also live alone. His personality then was different to how it is now, and once his playing was a little too rough. He accidentally left a cut on his sister's cheek, which caused her to panic, get upset and run away. Jed knew where she was hiding, very close-by in a small bush, so he left her there. Unfortunately, when he woke the next morning and went to go and see Abby, all that was left of her was a corpse. Something had attacked and killed the little sister that Jedrek had been trusted to care for, and it was his fault. From then on the playful energy that was once carried with him was replaced by a depressed, tired energy. Jed is also a lot more  quiet, often over-thinking decisions and finding it hard to come to conclusions. Jed is reluctant to make friends because he no longer trusts himself with others, and fears he may hurt them and have to carry even more guilt and regret with him.
