Why don't people RP with other animals?

*Sigh* Yet another reason why I rarely roleplay in public anymore.
I roleplay often on FeralHeart with my friends, but usually we only roleplay within private maps that we created ourselves.

But I can say this, the characters I've been creating are rarely canine or feline anymore.
I've been roleplaying humans, which some of my friends roleplay,
and within the past year I've also been roleplaying some creatures of my own,
and two horses, as well as a bear, a monsterous heck of a giant raven, and an elk. All of them being my most recent creations.
I rarely create a creature that is within the feline or canine group anymore. :/

I barely Rp much...I like to make unrealistic felines and just hang out with my friends. But when I do Rp it's like nowadays you have to be VERY specific on how you make your character. Like this one lion roleplay I was watching while on Stonebridge, the owner of the group was like:

King: "You have to be REALISTIC. Lionesses don't have manes or green eyes"
Other person joining: "Says the guy who has black Toe-less Socks markings."
King: "Well I'm not letting you join because you don't look realistic and you criticized my character."
OPJ: "WOW REALLY" *log off*

So since I see that a lot it's rare to find me in a Rp. I hang around on my purple lion and don't care what people think. (Sorry if I got a little off topic..)
