Hey guys! I haven't played FH on more than a bi yearly basis since about 2013. Lately I've gotten on a role playing kick and I wanted to revisit one of my previously favorite platforms to do so on.

With that being said, I haven't reinstalled any of my favorite texture packs, item packs, or other mods yet. I have an entirely vanilla game right now.

However I noticed upon entering the main hub of Flourite Plains and noticed: Wow, that's a lot of white.

My question isn't too big of a fix I don't think, but being out of the loop, has there been an uprising of texture packs lately? Did I miss a patch (highly unlikely I'd presume considering the last one was wings > >)? Can anyone direct me to a couple of the most popular texture packs? Am I just seeing a lot of professional groups who have their own textures? I'm going to find it hard roleplaying with a fellow fluff who's missing their... fluff.

Many thanks in advance C:

Game Help / Map Making Issues :I
« on: March 04, 2012, 10:23:48 pm »
Im sure im not the only one out there afraid of viruses. We all have gotten one of those nasty ones that totally freak you out. As statedby my trusty username, i am a map maker. Heres my problem though: Im scared of computers. Ever since a virus almost crashed the home comp in late January, i havent used it since.
Considering ive already come to the conclusion the FH forums have viruses, and i use mediafire often ( Possibly thats what givesme them?, i can no longer post my maps up for download without flipping out over the smallest window poping up asking me somethi. I have a nook tablet, whi is what im typing this from. Does anyone have any alternitive ways of posting my maps online? Emailing it to others is a last resort if no one can think of anything. If anyone knows if i can get .zip files on nooks...? -various questions-
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Ignore any typos. My touch screen is flipping out today :I

History

Long Ago, in the time of the great tribe f the Cherokee, all was peace in the mountains of the blue smoke, otherwise known to the Cheeroke indians as Sha Kon O Hey. Here, though, in this time period, lived a very friendly species of wolf. The Cherokee decided to call them The Great SmokeyWolf, due to their bluish grey and smokey colors, like the mountains around them. These wolves were peculiar, though. They did not travel in packs, like the other wolves of the mountains. They traveled alone, maybe with a few other wolves, but never in large packs. Forever then, the two species made a pact. The wolves helped the Cherokee in times of trouble, and the Cherokee Indians helped The Great Smokey Wolves in times of need. The cherokee were starting to worship the wolves, just as they worshiped the great eagles of their mountains.
But, after many generations of the two, legends being pased down of the amazing wolves, the newcomers came in. The New People were not Cherokee, but what they called themselves Americans. They drove the Cherokee out of their home, and built new houses on their old land's ruins. Soon after, they noticed the wolves running everywhere. One man, very evil, killed one, and noticed how soft their pelts were. They would make big money over them.
The wolves were slowly hunted down, whether they were elder or just a few days old. Evantually, only 28 were left. A few young wolves discovered a secret land in the mountains, one un-touched by man or wolf. The eldest wolf, known as EaglesWing to the Cherokee Indians, howled at the top of ChimneyRock, a famous out cropping rock in the area. Being the eldest, most listened to his call, and gathered under the rock. Only 13 of the 28 had heard. 6 males, and 7 females. ScarletValley,  the only surviving of the 4 wolves who discovered the dream territory, explained of the place of wonder, and how to get there. All of the wolves yowled in joy and agreement, and ScarletWing led the way to the entrance tunnel, which was behind a waterfall.
The dark, damp cave looked of no end, many were scared to enter, but evantually, with trembling legs and tail between their legs entered with the others. After of what seemed ages of walking in pitch blackness,  ScarletValley stopped short, and told everyone to stay back. The wolf, using her other senses, pushed away a rock that showed the way into the wide area of mountains and fields of plants and trees. There was a lake, too. But very deep. There was a rock here too, just like ChimneyRock. When they arived though, EaglesWing refused to step foot on the territory. He told that his heart lay in the old mountains of the Cherokee. There was another wolf with him, his young love, SilverWind. The two then walked back into the tunnel, and closed the rock behind them, leaving the young wolves to start a new life.
The 12 wolves all agreed to pair up and start families, for the good of their species. The 6 males choose 1 female each, and mated, bringing new pups to the world.
Now, many many years later, the wolves, who are unknown to humanity, forgotten, live in this hidden area of the SmokeyMountains. As for the other wolves? The 15 who hadnt heard the call actually had heard it, but they were all trapped by hunters, their bodies lined up next to each other in a line of gun shots. And the two elders died peacfully in a hidden den by ChimneyRock, dying peacfuly in their sleep. They now live in the spirit world with their cherokee ancestors.

History (How it was created in my mind :3)

The Great smokey Wolves came from an idea i had while on vacation in the Smokey mountains. I was just looking around at the scenery as we were driving, when i thought- You know what, i should make a map of this! But then came the big question- For What? I noticed a lot of species topics, i have read EVERY LAST ONE of them on the child board, so i thought- How about i make a species for it! Thus, the Great Smokey Wolf was born.

Map

The map is in the making right now. My friend is looking for meshes for it as you read it, while the height map and the mask are done, and i have a simple map with no items in it so far. The map will (most likely) be shared with my Find A Mate Rp, which, too, is a bunch of loners. So, no harm done there. I'll put screenies once the map actually makes some progress, and the download will be placed here one it's done.
~Alrighty, time for info~

Habitat

The Great Smokey Wolves live in The Great Smokey Mountains, in a hidden area, not known to mankind. Their homes are simple dens, whether their hollow logs or a clump of bushes, as long as it gives shelter. Being loners, dens are not very hard to find, since they don't need to be of a large size. But, it can also be challnging at the same time, for many of the dens wil be taken, and a Great Smokey Wolf (Im just going to say GSW now XD) may have to travel far into their private hollow to find a den.

Diet

A GSW will feed upon the animals that live within the mountains, such as Rabbits, Deer, Mice, and hawks. They will also eat fish, but not as often as land mammals. These wolfs are NOT cannabals and do NOT eat one of its kind. If a wolf is found doing this it will be driven out of the GMW territory.

Socialality
GSWs  can be social when it comes to finding another of it's kind. But, it differs with gender-

Male

Male wolves aren't as social with others males as females are with other females. If a male sees another male, he may take it as a threat if he's looking for a mate or already has one, and may attack. If not looking for a mate though, the wolf will wag his tail in greeting. The other male, if he sees the wag, will too wag his tail. The two will now meet often and help each other with each others families in the future.

Female

Female wolves can be much more social than the males. Whether shes looking for a mate or not, if she sees another female wolf, she will wag her tail, just as males do. If the female sees, she too will wag he tail. The two will live close together and help each other in raising pups and or times of need (Such as sickness, lack of food/water , etc.). But, if the female already has a family, she or her mate  may attack the female if it gets within 10-20 feet of the den.

Mating And Reproduction. (Edited to be not as graphic. Young readers should still be warned.)

A female is sexualy mature at the age of 2, and males at the same age, 2. Most will mate with someone in he same age group, such as a 2 year old female with maybe a 2-4 year old male. The wolves can mate at any time of year, but they normaly perform it during very late winter of the warm months of the year. A Feamale may choose if she wants to be pregnant, therefore, raping will do absolutley nothing, and its looked down upon. Also, therefore, a male and female may mate as they please, for fun or for pups.
When a female GSW is ready to look for a mate, her nose will turn a pink color, along ith her eyes gaining a pinkish tint. The males noses were turn black, and their eyes will grow darker. When a male spots a looking female, he will walk up and start circling the female, his pelt rubbing against hers, making high pitched yipping noises. If the female denies, she wil nip the males neck. If she decides to give the male a go, she too, will make a yip. The male will then bring the female to a romantic spot and try to impress her. If unsucessful, the female will leave without a word, showing she's not interested. If yes, though, she'll walk up and lick the male's muzzle.
The two will then find a den to settle in and the two will continue to get to know each other, getting closer and closer by the minute. When near time to mate, the male will be very anxty, almost always moving his paws, his pelt always touching hers, licking her often, whimpering a lot. The female will too be like this, but not as much. She will whimper a lot, her pelt always touching his, licking his face often.
On the morning BEFORE the day the female and male will mate, the femae won't get up. She'll just lie there in the den. The male will get this message and constantly lick her, throughout the day , only getting up to get food or water for the female.
When the day the two will mate arives, the female will make high pitched whimpering noises to wake up the male from his slumber. The two will travel to the area where they will mate, the female still making the noises, the male licking her to comfort her as they move. Once at the spot, the two will wait for the right time. GSWs only mate at Dawn, Sunset, or Midnight. A GSW may mate the Canine way, or the more popular human way, which they gained from their acient ancestors friends. After mating, the male and female GSWs will stay in the spot they mated over night, licking each other once again, until the next dawn, when they will go back to the den.

Pups

A female will give birth to her pups 2 weeks after mating. Short time, eh? Yup. This means a couple can have 2-3 litters a year. Most have over 12 litters in a lifetime! The male will be very protective over the female and his pups until they are old enough to see and walk (Which takes about 3 days). At 2 months, the pups will start to feed upon meat and other foods. At 5 months, the pups will be shown the area around the den by their mother.  At 8 months, the father will show the pups how to hunt and fight. At 12 months, the pups will be given a test to see if theyre fit enough to survive on their own. At 1 1/2 years, the pups will leave home to live life by themselves.

Names:
Names are a mixture of warrior cat names and tribal cat names. I was on a warrior kick when i originally made this, forgive me. So, for example, lets say you wanted the tribe cat name to be: Dew formed at Dawn. The warrior name might be: DawnDrop or some crappy SkyClan sort of pulloff. So the GSW name might happen to be GlisteningDew or something to that matter.

I.e:

EaglesWing:
Tribe: Wing Eagle crap name ( Lazy and tired)
Warrior: EagleFeather or Something

ScarletValley:
Tribe: Valley of Many Colors
Warrior: Prolly the same thing

SilverWind:
Tribe: Wind that blows at dawn (Silvery color)
Warrior: Same as GSW

So overall, it sounds more like a Warrior name, but it has that tribal touch to it :3

Did I forget anything? Please do tell me if I did ;3;

Alright, colors:

Males:
Pelt: Medium to Dark grey, slight blue tint, barely noticeable
Undercoat: White to light grey.
Nose: Varies.
Tailtip: Often the same as undercoat
Eyes: Often a deep gold or Blue. Red or Green is very rare among males.

Females:
Pelt: A light beige or tan color; Nothing too dark
Undercoat: Always pure white
Nose: Once again, varies
Tailtip: Once again, same as undercoat
Eyes: Normaly a Brow Auburn or Green color. Sometimes a light blue, but thats somewhat rare.

Pups are the same as their gender goes, only a very light colored version of thus, turning darker as age grows.

Dimensions to be announced, no pictures are available ;3;
