Game Discussion / Re: Which kind of RP do you like?
« on: June 26, 2013, 02:54:52 am »
I prefer roleplaying with my friends because even if an RP claims to be active and literate and has an amazing plot it ends up dying at some point unless it's very popular. Also, with my friends I feel like I can be more open about myself, joke around, and not have to even worry about activeness because I have to be in the perfect mood to want to RP.

Game Discussion / Re: Do You Block?
« on: June 26, 2013, 02:35:28 am »
I haven't really needed to block anyone yet. One person I did block because they were getting on my nerves and wouldnt shut up. So honestly, Im all for it. I dont see why let someone who is stressing/annoying you do it when with a simple click of a button *Poof* and there pretty much out of your life, along with the stress. If your in a fight/argument, simple end it with "Hey gues what? BLOCK" and block them. Problem solved.
Ditto, basically. Except I don't even bother giving them the luxury of knowing they're being blocked, although if it appears that, in some odd rare occasion, they're not trying to irritate me and I'm trying to be nice, I'll warn them that I will block them if they continue. After that it just happens whenever my last grain of patience is gone.

Eh. It depends on the situation and how its begin to cause problem. If I see someone just being rude to friends or me, I would quickly faster then a bunny rabbit, block you. Even though, I'm not that kind of rude person, I just have to do what's best and besides saying go away. Yeah. So once again, it depends on the situation and how and player is  behaving.
Ditto.

Really to me, i hate haveing to block people. Because when you do this you are basicly takeing away there abilitie to talk to you later on (I know you can unblock but still), and sometimes they dont even know they are makeing you mad or upset. Normaly i only block people who
A.) know im stressed or upset, and kep doing it
B.)Speak a diff language and it fills up chat
C.)Powerplays a whole lot, and threatens to report me if i don't go along with it.
But normaly when i block them i wait maybe a day or so, then unblock them. On a normal basis, my block list is empty..(But my freinds list is a war zone, so many people..)
So yeah, Im kinda agianst it, but it is usefull at times.

Personally I really don't think it matters if they can't talk to you later on because why would you want to? If they made me upset enough to want to block them I certainly wouldn't want to start a conversation with them. And it's not exactly the brightest idea to tell someone you're blocking them before you do because that tends to only stir up more mess. They probably wouldn't even know if you blocked them or not so it's not going to affect them personally unless you announce to them you're going to block them before you do.

I usually block only if this happens.

1. They yell at me in all caps and try to powerplay me, or even try to cause random drama in RP that's barely even two words. example, "bite" and that's it.
2. They try to stress me out and troll me. However, if they are breaking a rule I report then block.
3. Being unfair and dumb, yelling at me and stalking me, stuff like that. :P

Eh, I don't like blocking but meh. Not trying to be mean about blocking either. However, I think it's a bit odd if people block for these reasons because it's quite useless.

1. Blocking me because I was derping around in a tree, and they block me without warning or saying anything. o3o
2. Blocking me because they were upset for telling me about 'the rules'.
3. Blocking me so I can't report them. .-. Really? I'm glad this has not happened yet. That's why you never say "I'm reporting you," k? XD

I think I said what I was going to say here. But this is supposed to be no offense to anyone, really.
I think it's best not to tell someone you're blocking them because it starts a fuss. Also, you can block someone for any reason in my book. If you want to block someone because they're pink, do it! If you want to block someone because they're standing in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, block them! Ah, but that's just me. ^^

I definitely won't be responding to everything if/when this thread gets filled with a lot of posts, but for now I'm bored and it's late and I am willing to converse about anything.

Thank you for sharing, all of you. ?

Game Discussion / Do You Block?
« on: June 26, 2013, 01:50:01 am »
I wanted to make this thread because I am extremely curious as to how many people actually block/are against it.

Most people I have seen in this game say that they are against blocking which just... I don't understand. I am personally all for blocking because why waste your time on anything that will stress you out? I actually don't end up blocking very much but that's simply because I don't usually get caught up in drama involving myself, or if I do it doesn't bother me at all. Yet I've seen people practically peeing themselves with anger yet they refuse to block the person who is causing them so much stress and making a much bigger situation than needed.

Many users don't even block spammers. Why seriously even bother doing anything more than blocking them? Do you think you'll earn a medal for yelling at them to stop by flooding the chat even more with caps? I actually find the reactions to spam more irritating than the spam itself and I often times end up trying to tell everyone else to just block them. Or I used to, but now I usually just turn off local until it's calmed down.

As for the answers I'd like to hear...

How willing are you to block another user? Why? How do you respond in a situation where you don't block someone?

My mapped group's been recruiting successfully without general for six months, entirely through word of mouth and weekly, public roleplaying sessions. It's honestly not hard if you try!

Also, people who are against the change are more likely to voice their opinion than those who are pleased with it; using the opinions gathered in this thread will undeniably be skewed towards those that abhor the removal of general. People are quicker to complain than to praise. Most people I've talked to actually like it; this thread's in no way representative of the community's overall opinion-- and certainly shouldn't be taken as such.

Even then, it's-... A chat channel. In a sandbox game. Please put things into perspective; it's not a crime against human rights! It's not the end of the world, goodness gracious! Just adapt (or go outside, play a different game etc.) until a better solution's found; general shouldn't be brought back until the underlying issues are resolved.

Six months is a very long time and I don't think the people complaining would like to have to consistently advertise for months without General, especially when they don't even have the option to use it now. Running around for who-knows how long asking people may not necessarily be hard, but it is still... Well, unnecessary as well as not fun at all. Not to mention that it's very time-consuming unless you have a group of popular demand.

If people who are for the change wanted their opinions to be heard, all they would need to do is post here as well so it's not as if anything is stopping them from making the thread more accurate, although I'm not sure if any of this is being taken into much consideration or not.

I'm not trying to bash or anything but I felt the need to point a few things out although I wasn't aiming to bring too much opinion into it.

I see that a lot of people in support of General being rid of are suggesting that you "get off of your butt" to go find people to roleplay or chat with, but... What's wrong with sitting on your character's pixelly behind and just talking? This is basically a 3D chatroom, and is even referred to as such on the front page. It's not fun running around in a humongous map searching for people, whispering people, or anything like that. Even making a party involves searching out people. I don't feel like being repetitive by mentioning things already mentioned before like "movies lag ragequit", so I won't.

However, I feel the need to point out that because this is basically a 3D chatroom, there will always be trolls, spammers, arguments, and inappropriate conversations. And as long as there is at least one chat that others can openly see, it will never change. I'm sure we're all aware of that and that ridding General was to bring it down a lot. But we're people, and that's really just the price you pay by talking on the internet. To solve the issues stated above to the best ability without angering a large chunk of the members could possibly just be to enforce blocking more. It is RIDICULOUS how many users on FH are against blocking! I actually think this angers me more than General being taken down, considering I don't always use it (especially in recent times). So many users claim they "counter troll" the trolls or they "feel guilty" about using the block button for its sole purpose: to save YOU from the stress of others bothering you! You don't need a good reason to block someone. If they make you mad because they're neon, block them. If they're talking about something in General that offends you, block them. It's the same concept!!!!!!!!!

Another thing could be to become just a bit more strict in kicking/banning for General chat, and make it loud and clear so no one is surprised and will hopefully realize that they can't just throw their manners and common sense in the trash when they decide to talk in that lovely foam-green chat which everyone can see. Perhaps even make it like on the forums so that unnecessary comments or faces aren't allowed as much so that the chat isn't quite as flooded, thus making advertising that much easier.

But I do agree that we (the users) should just wait a while before declaring a poll because as it is now (with it not even being a week), it's ridiculously obvious that everyone will be voting for General to come back, so that's virtually pointless. Wait a few weeks or months without it and then come to your conclusion. As human beings it's very hard to change your opinion because let's face it; everyone wants to stubbornly stick by their opinion and get their way.

Try not to be COMPLETELY negative about it because it's not changing for a while, and there isn't a darn thing you're going to do about it. So there's no point in stressing yourself about something (or protesting, which I have seen) out of your control. Try using the forums to advertise for a change, or maybe cut back a little and just talk with your friends. Experimenting with doing other things isn't completely bad. I myself have been in Ficho a lot more than I ever used to be. I often sit near the lake where many people gather. It's quite nice to talk with the other Pokemon-loving users, and it's a good place to find a filler RP to cure your boredom.
