Maledetto Vuoto: The "Wretched Hollow" Pack

www.maledettovuoto.forumotion.comAs you venture northward along the tapered western coast of the Fluorite Plains, the population of canids seemingly decreases, and you find yourself rather alone in a vast array of wild expanse.
The entanglement of vegetation that effortlessly flows from field to forest seems to never cease-- vines hanging from crooked dark branches that peak past leafy treetops adorn the lush land in dense forest , and various wildflowers of all hues give way to large emerald and golden meadows that slope gently over foothills. Craggy bluffs jut out above clearcut streams that team with fish and aquatic life, laced with jagged and eroded rocks in values of blue and grey. Foamy, aggrevated waves manipulate the sandy coastline at the moon's will, and the sounds of beautiful and monstrous beasts are carried and echoed upon the wind.
The land itself is wild and untamed-- as are its inhabitants: Maledetto Vuoto Wolves.
Maledetto Vuoto: The Wretched Hollow is a pack with the following characteristics:
*Established in late 2012,
*Mapless and located in the north-western Fluorite Plains in the Feral Heart Program,
*Semi-literate to literate,
*Semi-realistic to realistic,
*Long-term and familial,
*Based on non-fictional and fictional themes found primarily in Europe and the Americas,
*Encourages friendship, loyalty and respect,
*Goals include obtaining and strengthening friendships, enjoying a fulfilling roleplay, and improving roleplay and writing.
Here is what you can expect if you're considering joining:
As a new member or pup, you're expected to wear no tag whatsoever, which denotes that you are an Orfano. While an Orfano, you are expected to become familiar with the pack, its members, ways, and rules. You're also expected to consider which Specialty (eight to choose from) you'd like to one day focus on.
Once the Basilico Pair observes, evaluates, and knows you on a basic level, a ceremony will be scheduled and held for you. There is no set age for a pup to recieve a ceremony, and such decisions rely primarily on the activity of both the Orfano in question and the Basilico Pair.
Insight Given to the Soul Animal
During this ceremony, you will be given insight to your Soul Animal. Every Vuoto Wolf's soul has a specific animal it mimics, which will be revealed to the Orfano by one of the Basilico wolves. The Basilico Pair makes this Soul Animal decision based on their judgment of your attitude, personailty, drive, and anything else that may lend a paw in the process. This process ensures that every specialized wolf within the Pack has been properly studied and evaluated by the Basilico Pair and allowed to acclimate to the Pack. References to your Soul Animal may be given sporatically in roleplay, but please realize that your character's soul isn't an actual animal, but instead it mimics a particular animal. So, for example, if your Soul Animal was a tiger, you could roleplay something like this: "The predatory drive of my tiger-like soul drove home the effort to bring down the stag alongside the other Vuoto wolves; we all will feast tonight!"
The Gifting of the Feather
After the Soul Animal is revealed to the Orfano, the Orfano must decide if he will be choosing to study and train in a Specialty in the Corvo (Raven) division or the Colomba (Dove) division of the Pack. If the Orfano will be studying and training within a Corvo Specialty, he or she is gifted with a black feather. If the Orfano will be studying and training within a Colomba Specialty, he or she is gifted with a white feather. These feathers can be adorned upon the wolf's body or stowed away wherever the wolf likes, or thrown away. These feathers are considered prized possessions, and denote weather a wolf is in the Corvo or Colomba division.
Choosing of the Specialty
Once the feather has been gifted, the Orfano asks the Basilico if he or she may study a certain Specialty within that division. Most Specialty requests will be granted, but please realize that high-ranking Specialties (like the Eclissi and the Archivi) may require further training and/or an extensive questioning/RP sample, and may be ultimately denied. If wanted, a Basilico may choose a Specialty for the Orfano at his or her requst. The Orfano is then called by his Specialty name and is required to include to his Specialty tag at the end of his name.*
After the Insight Given to the Soul Animal, the Gifting of the Feather, and the Choosing of the Specialty, the Ceremony is complete and the wolf in question is assumed to be a full member of the Maledetto Vuoto pack. This wolf is now ready to train and work hard to excel at his or her Specialty, ultimately helping the pack progress into future ages to come.
*Changes in Specialty can happen, but are rare. These occurrances will be addressed when and if they happen. Both Braccio ranks wear grey/silver feathers, symbolizing authority over both white and black feathers (Colomba and Corvo divisions) of the pack. Orfanos do not wear any feathers.
