Strays of the Ruins. (Stray dog/cat RP, open & accepting)

  ------In a post-apocalyptic world, nuclear war had left most major cities in ruins.-----

    Surviving human beings
have disappeared into the wilderness to escape the shambled cities. Many creatures including humans
 were affected by the high levels of radiation in some cities, mutating them into vicious flesh-eaters.
Some fortunate dogs and cats, however, had survived and found shelter from the nuclear wasteland in
one of the run down cities, which was simply abandoned and war-battered, but safe from radiation. Each
 day is a struggle of survival for the animals living in this sanctuary; a struggle to find non-infected food &
water, and a war to survive the mutated wilderness & ward off the freakish, zombie-like mutated creatures.

Character name: Flak
Breed: German Shepherd/Siberian Husky/Grey Wolf Mix
Appearance: Body structure of a German Shepherd, only slightly larger. His pelt is jet black with a
 white patch running down his throat to his chest, white toes on his forelegs, and white sock markings
 on his hind paws. His eyes he gets from his husky side, piercing, crystal blue irises. He has the bushy tail
 of a wolf, which often curves upward in a hook.

Background: Flak was the dog of a small family in a small town. When the nuclear war began,
their town was destroyed, swept away by the intense blast of a nearby nuclear explosion.
Wandering the wilderness with his only surviving human, he sought to protect the man, but
 failed when they were attacked by a band of human survivors who killed Flak's human in their raid.
Personality: Flak is extremely protective and aggressive, and will give anything to keep those
close to him safe after his failure with his human. He has adapted to be a great fighter and survivalist
 in the wasteland in which he lives.

       The mix breed mutt wandered along the cracked, empty streets of the enormous abandoned city which he had
dubbed "Ruin City." Each building had gaping holes in it somewhere, the paint and bricks chipping away, each
window shattered, and was in some way leaning on its foundation. Vines and moss had begun to
creep up the sides of the cracked buildings, making the city's years of abandonment visible. Flak let out a huff
from his nostrils and stopped, standing up straight to do a sweeping scan of his surroundings, his large ears swiveling on his head. There was never
time to be off guard in this world anymore.

Character name: Teegan.
Breed: German Shepherd.
Gender: Female.
Appearance: Well she lookes like an ordinary German Shepherd. She had a dark brown coat that is quite fluffy but yet smooth, her fur is also quite long. She has a large black spot on the center of her back along with black marks on her fave mainly her muzzle and ears but she does have more black around her face. Her nose is like a type of leather but is black, her eyes are a lucious brown color with a tint of blue and green. Her tail is quite fluffy along with the rest of her fur. She has pearl white teeth with only a few stains on the odd tooth her tongue is a health peach color and her claws are black but fairly charp.
Age: 4.
Mate: Nope.
Pups: Nope.
Background: She lived a normal life with her owner john, he loved her dearly and you could say he spoilt the she dog like she was his own child. They loved eachother basically going everywhere with eachother and everything together. They could never be parted. Well as they though. It wasn't long until the war started.
A while later a nuclear war started and many lived were lost those of humans and others of animals, it was a horrid scene bodies everywhere no one knew what to do. The city was in ruins one it all ended. All humans where gone and only a few animals remained, as they found shelter.
Now living in the ruins. Everyday is a harsh game of survival. They have to live keeping an eye out for any flesh eaters as you never know when the humans will come back and try and snatch up a helpless animal or even our own kind might have turned becauses of the mutations. No one knows.
Personality: Teegan is quite a happy girl who can have a laugh and act like a pup at times, her cocky attitude getting her in trouble from time to time. She is a very stubborn girl and use to be the happiest dog in town until the war started anyway. Now she seems a miserable she who is very stubborn and harsh, she often snaps and uses sarcasm far to much. Only a true dog/friend can bring her back out her shell.



Teegan woke with a shock her heart racing as her breathing was heavy, she had a night mare. The humans came back, the dogs days were over only several surviving, needing to creep arounto find food just to ensure they didn't get attacked. Her heart beated as she looked around.
"Bad dreams, ugh!" She moaned as she let out a snarl as it echoed down the long tunnel, she lifted to her paws as rubble moved beneath her paws, she shook little bits of ash and stone from her pelt. She exited the tunnel. The sky way grey and the city looked as miserable then ever. They city was in ruins. "Our home" she sighed as she walked out the tunnel. Grubble tumbled down slopes asif someone was there but she snarled, shrugged then continued down the ruind streets.
Teegans stomach growled as she let out a whinne she hadn't eaten in days, but food was scarce at this moment in time and she know it wouldn't be that easy getting it. She walked down the street her head down but ears perks. The only sound heard was the screech of birds above and grubble beneath her paws.

      After a couple minutes of frozen surveillance, Flak dubbed his surroundings safe enough to continue. Extending his stride back to a swift trot, he continued down the uneven asphalt road leading to the city outskirts. The city being in ruins, he had often found the outskirts the best place to food other than the large rats that occupied the damaged buildings of the inner city. His paws stepped off the concrete and onto the rough dirt, his nose to the air and sniffing alertly. The landscape surrounding the ruins were mostly barren, stripped of most of the vegetation during the initial blast & eventual fallout. Any large game such as deer would naturally be nowhere to be found in this harsh landscape, so the best source of food would be fowl. A crow landed on a low branch of one of the nearby dead trees, unaware that a large canine had his eyes fixed on it. Flak lowered himself to the ground, his dark pelt made him stand out a bit against the dry dirt. Nevertheless, he stalked forward, anticipating the potential meal to come.

Teegans stomach growled once again as she snarled "Never satisfied" she mumbled to herself as she looked around the deserted city her black/brown ears twitched as she stood still, she could hear the rubble moving "Huh?" Her head tilted she knew it wasn't her. All way silent as she crawled forward with caution she she went to stick her head over to look in the hole when a black crow flew out making a squawking sound as she yelped with fright. Her heart beat once again as this was also a scene in her dream.
"Get a hold of yourself!" She moaned to herself as she carried on walking down the street coming to a large field full of dead trees. "This place is a waist land" she cried as she turned around in search of food and water, she just needed something small to satisfy her hunger and thirst.

     Flak narrowed his eyes in determination, locking onto his target. The crow sat perched on the branch with its back facing the hungry dog, still unaware. Quickening his pace, Flak decided it was the right time to make his move. He launched himself off the earth with his hind paws to lunge towards the bird. The crow realized the attack and gave its wings one quick flap in an attempt to get away, but by then it was too late for it. The wolfdog snapped his jaws shut on the base of its left wing as he cleared the branch like a show jumping obstical. He landed gracefully on the other side, trotting to a halt as the crow struggled in his grip, cawing rapidly. Flak dropped the bird to the ground and pinned it with one of his large paws, biting into its slender chest with a bark. Clenching his jaws tighter, he gave his head a quick jerk, silencing the bird's struggles at last. He let go of the dead crow and straightened up, panting as he quickly scanned his surroundings. The commotion of hunts often tended to attract unwanted attention from some sort of creature, be it a mutated one or a simple scavenger.

Teegan padded around the streets and a thought flashed through her mind as her eyes widened 'a crow began to chase the she dog as she cried many mutated humans and dogs following behind her including John. She ran as they gained on her she came to a halt at a dead end'. She let out a yelp like growl as she began to run across the rubble slipping/tumbling down the slopes as rubble moved beneath her paws.
She cam to a halt as she shook her head "it was all a dream" she panted as she sat down her neck hanging down along with her head as her tongue lolled out her mouth. Teegans pupils went back to their original size and the hairs on the back of her neck lay back down as she began to search for food again, her heart still slight pounding as she padded around curiously.

   Flak laid down in front of the mangled carcass of the crow, one paw still on it. Drawing back his lips, he began to tear into the feathery carcass with his incisors. Wincing a bit at the odd sensation of a mouthfull of feathers, he raised his head and spit some out to the side. Returning his attention back to the carcass, he used his front teeth to pluck the pesky feathers from it to allow easier access to the small amount of meat it offered.

Teegans mouth watered as she padded down the street of ruins that once was her own ah a tear rolled down her cheek as she though of john, she then snapped and lifted her paw to her head and brushed it along her face. Then shaking access dust from her pelt. The growls of her stomach became louder and fiercer by the minute as she jerked forward.
"I need food" she mumbled as she began to search the ruins for any rats or any other small animal she could eat to just satisfy her for a few hours. Her nose caught the strong scent of a rat near by "at last" she cried as she urged forward towards is the rat scuttered past. She jumped back. These rats were huge, like nothing she had seen before. She snarled and followed the rat as it came to a halt sitting on its hind legs as its ears twiched she crouched low in the rubble.
Seeking her moment she jumped from the rubble and snarled as she landed on the ra, it made a slight attempt to get away but the grip from her jaws was to powerful for it to escape. Teegan crunched down hard as several of the bones cracked. She dropped the carcass of the rat to the ground. "Time to dig in" she muttered as she lowered herself to the ash covered ground. She ripped flesh fherats body as she ate like she hadn't ate for years.
The rat was gone only bone remained with tiny bits of meat and blood on as she licked her lips her tail flicked as she looked around the barren city. She lifted to her paws and shook off the dirt as she let out a howl then roaming the sitty. She could hear moans in the distance as shered herself to the ground.

    Flak licked the remaining blood and feathers from his muzzle as he finished the crow in minutes, leaving only a blood stain on the ground. Getting back to his feet, he shook his pelt out, sending a small cloud of dust floating skyward from his filthy fur. With a huff, the mutt turned and hopped back onto the cracked remnants of asphalt that once made up the main road of the city. Flak broke into a trot and followed the road back to the inner city. Suddenly, an eerie howl echoing around the buildings above made him stop in his tracks. He straightened up and froze immediately, tail and ears upright and alert. He hadn't seen any other dogs around here, at least not normal dogs, so the he instantly concluded that the howling came from one of the mutated beasts. "There's... one in the city?" He muttered aloud. With a brave huff, he traced the sound of the howling at a trot to investigate. If it /was/ a mutated creature, he felt it his duty to ensure the city was rid of it. It was a radiation-free city, and he wanted it to remain that way, a safe haven from the dangerous outside world.

Rubble crumbled down from one of the building that was slightly still standing as she watched it fall the the ground with a thud as an ash cloud flew into the air her tail wagged. Although she seemed like a dog who'll get scared easy she actually likes the though of danger, hence she is more of the tomboy ish girl. Her head tilted as the ash slowly dissapeard and her vision locked on a dark shadow running towards her as her tail stopped and stood up, her ears perked and all legs apart making her look bigger than she was.
The thud of the paws came closer as she let out a snarl "What if its one of the mutated creatures" she gasped "I'm sure to be attacked" she stopped as it got closer she lowered to the ground slightly her teeth bared as saliva dripped from her jaw. She waited patiently for the creature to come nearer her heart thudded as as flew up behind the beast.
