Can't download maps?
« on: January 04, 2014, 08:37:25 pm »
I hope that this is an okay place to post this, as it's more about files than the game itself.

Whenever I try to download something from MediaFire, attempting to open the file results in my laptop telling me "The compressed (zipped) file is invalid."

Since most maps are on MediaFire, this means that I can't join in on mapped roleplays.  :'(

I'm on a Windows 7 laptop. If anyone can explain how to fix this, I'd be very grateful!

Are the map files from Mediafire in a zip code on Winrar? Because that's how the files need to be to get the map in-game. Unzip the files (or open up Winrar) and extract (or copy and paste) the files to where they are supposed to go. Hope this helps.
Farewell everyone<3

It happens with any zip file or just that zip file?,
Maybe you tried to download the zip file and the download was interrumpted, and the zip file got corrupt, so you could try to dowload it again.
It still unable to open it also could be that the zip file as is on mediafire is corrupt, probably when was uploaded got interrumpted.

Check you are trying to open the zip file with the right application, could be directly with windows internal file handler or with winzip, winrar, z-zip, etc.

If the problem persist, You could ask to a friend to upload the map you want in another site diferent than mediafire.

Un-zipping* work*
Un sipping should wrk

There is a modify button at the top of your post where you can modify your mistake. ^^

I have to go with Thierry on this one. It sounds a lot like the file became corrupted. Also, try another browser.

Ok, so when I click "Extract All" it says that the file is empty. Unless something has gone seriously wrong in the download and it's actually given me an empty file, how do I fix this...?

I really think you downloaded an empty file, try downloading it for second time.
