My map is crashing!!!

Hey y'all! So, I wanted to make myself a custom map, maybe for future roleplays and other things, I drew it on a 513x513 PX canvas, in Grayscale mode, I used GIMP to create the map, all of it is dabbed onto one layer. I save it to 'Local Disk C: >> FeralHeart >> media >> terrains >> blahblahmapname.PNG'.

Woo! I'm so happy great, finally, after a few hours of making this map, I finally save it! I open up my FeralHeart game, and suddenly all of my euphoria dies.

"FERALHEART HAS STOPPED WORKING, CURSE YOU MO- <4KIDZ >"

It crashes. What did I do wrong? Why does the game do this? How do I fix this? Someone help me?

Alright, so, I've installed the map, and the file of the test map appeared to be a .JPG, when mine was a .PNG
'That' is what caused the whole game to crash, apparently my computer doesn't like .PNG files. ewe
Yep, so it's all fixed, just I'm kinda scared of using a mask for my terrain sinc eI am not sure whether it should be a .PNG or a .JPG, probably .JPG again.

Oh the file extension would not have made a difference, just different compressions, qualities & stuff. You should be fine making a Mask with RGB, transparency and as a .png, fh isn't so picky about how Masks are made. =)

Advantages of .jpg for heightmaps:
-Lower file sizes.
-Can't support transparency, therefore won't have any when saved.
That's why I made the test heightmap .jpg instead of .png.
