Silence

Prologue
Leaves crunched under paws as they scrambled, yerning to run faster. Large, thunderous paws sounded behind them. Maroon eyes stood above the paws and bounced up and down in the moonlight. The smaller, frail, and young paws managed to climb rocks and leap across a babbling brook. The paws behind slowed, eventually stopping as a great roar that shook the trees to their roots sounded. Yellow canines dripped saliva as the younger paw figure snarled, " Idiot! " straight at the other. The other figure turned and lumbered away; it took the shape of a large grizzly-black bear hybrid. The other figure was a wolf, adolescent at sight. The moon faded behind a patch of luminous clouds before a rain began to fall. The wolf's gray-brown fur fled under a sheltering bush, away from the rain. The wolf nudged leaves together, then lay and slept on the 'fail' bed.
