Finished Maps / Re: Fluorite Plains (and other maps) in 1.15!
« on: September 26, 2016, 01:43:05 am »
You agreed my advice, isn't you?

Yeah and I have to thank you for sending me the old FeralHeart installer :D

Oh my god I'm crying! Thank you so very very much! Really hope you can add the rest in too! ^^

Sadly there isn't much I can do for the other maps, I used a really old version of FeralHeart that still used .fhz map files (which are basically just .zip files) to get the height maps and such but this method doesn't work for the newer .fho maps since they're encrypted. :c

Update for the 15th of April, 2017

I've lost all the original files I used to make this map pack because my hard drive died, so I've had to start it again. The portal to the maps is located in the Cape of Distant Worlds and will take you to the FH 1.13 Lonely Cave. From there everything (should) be as it was in the original game. If you are reinstalling this pack the portal in the 1.15 Lonely Cave will not work anymore

Update for the 17th of April, 2017

Removed the old 1.13 Cape of distant worlds since it seemed to have bugged people's games and there's no way to actually get to it from the pack since all the maps take you back to the 1.15 version.

Make sure you uninstall all previous versions of the map pack before installing the new April update!!

If you find any problems please let me know on Discord: Jellyfish#2224

(The download button in the top right corner of the page)

Install instructions:
1. Extract the two folders labelled "exports" and "media" into the FeralHeart root folder.
2. Press yes to replace/merge any folders.
3. Have fun on the old maps!

Game Help / Re: Does anyone know how to get the old maps working in 1.15?
« on: September 23, 2016, 01:29:05 am »
The rocks don't show.  Neither do most trees.  And old cape portal doesn't seem to go anywhere.
And in the past i've tried swapping map names of files but it doesn't work, they appear to have the true names encrypted inside and the file names externally are simply for handling by humans.  Hence why the old maps can't even be moved to "Exports" and show at the cape.

You need to move over /media/objects/fhObjects.fho to the new version since it uses objects from that file.

I have the heightmaps for fluorite and bonfire/lonely cave but heightmaps are only half of the problem. I still need to know where everything is placed in the map which right now I can only do by viewing it in game unless someone knows a way to extract the information out of .fhm files. But I don't think that's in the realm of possibility since they are encrypted in some way. D:

Game Help / Does anyone know how to get the old maps working in 1.15?

Hey everyone! :D

I'm trying to port the older Feral Heart maps into the Unity Engine but I need to go on them for reference. I've tried directly copying over the maps from the old version as well as all the objects and other assets but when I try going to any map that isn't Lonely Cave or Cape of Distant Worlds the map loads but I can't get the loading screen to disappear.

See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqKAqRQWeKs
Don't mind the blinding white, I tried replacing the loading screen images with completely transparent images but they don't render correctly and show up as white.

Has anyone managed to get them to work yet or am I stuck only on the new maps? Any help would be greatly appreciated since I miss the game dearly but the new maps aren't the same...

I don't know how helpful this is but I do have all the Impressive Title heightmaps. Maybe the one you're looking for is somewhere in here: https://imgur.com/a/MkT3g

Other Games / Re: [PROTOTYPE DOWNLOAD] Feral Heart Unity Engine Port v0.0.3

Hmm, it's been a few years since I worked with Unity, but, I think you could just group them. Can't remember exactly how, but I think it was something with a select/right click.
This is looking amazing though!
Oh wow! I unfortunately have no idea how to work with these types of things, but I must say, good work :D

Thank you both! I'm still a in the beginnings of learning C# and Unity but it seems familiar enough from C++, for the most part anyway. :P

I've tried messing around with the UV maps and textures in different programs but with what's exported straight from the .xml (I used the Ogre CLI Converter) is literally impossible to work with unfortunately.

Tools exist like UU3D which can automate this for me but it's little out of my budget which I set for this project ($0USD). Maybe in the future if this does gain enough attention I'll buy it since the game would be a bit bare without proper characters. XD

UPDATE 20TH OF OCTOBER 2016
Hey everyone, I just realised I haven't said anything in a while so I thought I'd make a post saying this project isn't dead, I just haven't been making builds for the public and I've been learning how to write C# properly not copy-pasting other people's code from the internet which means there hasn't really been much development of gameplay. Also, I've returned to remaking the original maps instead of the ones from 1.15 since it doesn't feel right converting the new ones. It's basically like stealing from the creators unlike using the maps Kovu abandoned when he disappeared from the community. But anyway, I should have another build with (fingers crossed) working multiplayer by the end of the year if everything goes to plan. :D

Includes builds for Windows, Linux and Mac.

Changelog:

0.0.5: The last, incomplete build of the game with the old maps. From this point onwards, I'm starting again and porting the new 1.15 maps instead due to being unable to visit the old maps and extract information out of them. Watermill is 90% done and now with a correct flyover camera. I've added a second button on the menu that takes you to an extremely early version of lonely cave. It might be some time before I put out another build since I'm starting from scratch but I do occasionally livestream my progress here: http://www.youtube.com/c/TobiasHagen7/live
0.0.4: Moved the Watermill test map to the main menu and added the flyover cinematic. The play button now takes you to a basic version of Fluorite Plains which is still in 3rd person free cam since player models and movement are still broken but it will now properly pick a random loading image. I'll add a fix to the character movement in with the next update. I also reordered the changelog so newest updates show up on the top (Click and drag to scroll.)
0.0.3: Added main menu screen with placeholder background for now. Removed follow cam due to issues keeping up with player, will add better solution in the next update... Probably.
0.0.2: Game now starts with the camera following the player and movement has been added. Pressing F1 toggles follow cam mode and pressing F2 switches to free cam mode.
0.0.1: Initial build, nothing really that interesting just a model of a lion and a tree on Watermill in free camera mode.

Firstly your passwords are safe.

Oh thank goodness, but still. I'm still a little apprehensive about everyone's passwords being stored in what seems like plain text.
