OLDBOYS - mapped, dog-based, searching for staff
« on: April 08, 2016, 04:36:25 am »

OLDBOYS IS A GINGA NAGAREBOSHI GIN / GINGA DENSETSU WEED / DOG BASED ROLEPLAY.

The stray dogs' presence all over Japan is a particularly well-missed mystery, passed over by humans and hunters and all things alike and not.  Several groups of these wild dogs exist, naturally separate from each other; lead by different figures and bound together for different reasons. As a whole, they are skilled,  work together in large groups that are capable of dividing themselves and finding each other again, hunting dog type appropriate, and clever.  The most prominent of these stray groups are the outsider-dubbed OLDBOYS. Hunting dogs abandoned by owners, run-aways, born-wilds, and pets liberated from their former lives alike, the OLDBOYS have made their name with the subsequent conquering of the Ohu and Alps areas; having moved unanimously to neutralise a no-longer-a-problem bear threat.  For years after this, the OLDBOYS held themselves together as the one and only group present on either side of any mountain. They had created a paradise for themselves and those who came along, and largely any ruling or leader system was fair and not to be questioned. It wasn't until half a decade after the glory of the win over the bears wore off that unloyal subsections of the group began to slip away - and other groups began to slip in.
The OLDBOYS still exist, but are almost a mythical prospect; difficult to find, always moving, never any sure-fire directions to their current location (or any location at all, really). The hunger for territory and the gradual disregard for the OLDBOYS' defeat over the bears all those years ago has lead to high tensions and higher stakes. Young, amoral minds have stumbled forward; their own philosophies burning high on the edge of their burning-ambition foreheads. A constant struggle to keep up alliances and recruit more dogs has increased in all packs, and it's growing progressively harder to distinguish which loyalties lie where.

The lingering presence of a yet-to-be-identified  threat hasn't helped any cases, either

[size=9]**This roleplay is loosely based off of Yoshiro Takahashi's Ginga Nagareboshi Gin / Ginga Densetsu Weed. You do not need to be familiar with either to participate in the roleplay. This follows the same general timeline as what is established in both series, though has been kept purposely vague for the sake of allowing submission of applications for canon characters in either series to be brought back in a similar but different environment, after a different course of events. Names of factions have been changed and other creative liberties have been taken on unspecified parts of the series that could be utilised for the roleplay.

we are looking mostly for staff members to take over the roleplay both in-character and out of character, as i'm personally incapable of holding interest on one thing for the appropriate amount of time that it takes to run a roleplay.

SITE / FACTION INFO + LIST / MAP DOWNLOAD (to check out) / CHARACTER GUIDELINES

RULES
ooc -
i. swearing is allowed (from the level of d/// to f////), so long as it isn't unnaturally over-frequent and no discriminatory slurs are used.
ii. swearing at other members is also permitted, but if asked to stop, that's the end of directing it to that particular person. all of this, of course, has to be kept in good nature; don't insult people and make sure that the tone of the conversation is fairly obvious to avoid confusion!
iii. try to be nice to people, keep drama to a minimum, etc. if someone asks you to drop a conversation topic for whatever reason then please oblige. there's no reason to make anyone unnecessarily uncomfortable.
iv. we're not using terms like 'literate' here because they're over-generalised and kind of meaningless, but you should be roleplaying in third person paragraph, using NORMAL WORDS / PHRASES and not overly-complex wolfspeak (needlessly utilising scientific terms, basically). just say ears, nothing else. if you see someone contradicting this rule to the point of over-excessiveness, then point them towards number four.
v. actually roleplay! don't get on and just sit around! it really irks me when i join a group and no-one wants to do anything. it's okay to have OOC chatter and it's understandable if you have other things to work on but would like to keep the tab open, but don't make getting on and doing nothing a habit.
vi. because this roleplay allows swearing and generally more mature themes (nothing sexual, just descriptions of gore, swearing / other insults, potential for situations to be considered psychologically traumatising for characters, mistreatment, et cetera et cetera) there's a sort of honour system that we'll run by with. if you get mad at one person or another, you don't take screenshots of them swearing or writing other things and report it to a moderator out-of-context. this is only for what goes on INSIDE the map or INSIDE the group chat, though. if you act out in public against the normal feral heart rules and you get reported, then that's your own fault.

ic -
i. keep character design realistic. remember this is based around a more realistic appeal of dogs; keep colors natural (though tiny artistic liberties, like eye color & what not, can be taken! just nothing over-the-top or too unreasonable like red eyes).
ii. ask about hybrid type characters or wolf-mixes, we don't that many in here because this is a dog roleplay. dogs woof woof.
iii. post cutting is allowed to keep the flow of things good & dandy! just try not to be obnoxious about this liberty by posting short posts in rapid succession.
iv. follow proper character guidelines when you make your character.
v. believe in variety. add that shady german shepard; the too-cheerful dalmation, the power-hungry doberman, the egotistical great dane. whatever. i'm tired of seeing roleplays with too many set restrictions on in-character behaviour (believing that all must fall in line with unwavering respect for in/out of character authority). that's not the case; do whatever you want, have your own set of morals, roam a little free-er and with some extra creative incitement. a good cast of quality characters that have nice contrasts or compliment one another leads to an interesting roleplay, where big plot events where 'extra special people' get picked to take part of it don't even need to be made just to keep everyone online. do all this in reason, though.
vi. character designs should be based off of real dogs or ginga densetsu weed / ginga nagareboshi gin designs.
