Can't load heightmap?

I made a heightmap in gimp and it's not working. In fact, whenever I try to load it, the whole game crashes.
It's greyscale and the size is 513x513. It's not even that overly textured either.
What do?

Make sure the heightmap is flattened and the Alpha Channel is off.

What do you mean by flattened? And thank you for the reply I turned the alpha channel off and I will see if it works!

EDIT: I turned the alpha channel off and it's still crashing.

The heightmap should only have 1 layer. In GIMP there is an option to "Flatten Image" in the Image tab.
