The Plague.
« on: July 03, 2018, 10:15:19 am »

The Black Death was a medieval pandemic that swept through Europe during the late 1340s after hitting Asia, killing an estimated 25 million people. The cause of this bacterial infection remained undiscovered until the outbreak that first struck China in 1855 and did not end until 1959 officially, where - throughout these years - doctors started to realise that rats showed symptoms of the plague and were therefore put to blame for spreading the disease.

Other animals that showed symptoms for carrying the disease were prairie dogs, burrowing rodents native to the grasslands in North America. The bare patches of ground that were created by their grazing and burrowing frequently attracted certain insects that would feed a variety of birds. During the time of the Plague, and prairie dogs carrying the Xenopsylla cheopis (rat flea), the dogs would often leave fur and patches of dead (and infected) skin in these burrows, leaving insects and feasting birds to catch onto the infection.

Come 1956, a timber wolf by the name Demetrius, entered a pack - Undaunted - after feasting upon a bird that, unknown to the canine, had been infected and was due death days after Demetrius had caught it. He carried this plague into the Undaunted obliviously. However, something about this infection on this wolf, was much different. The infection soon started to take over his mind, infuriating him with a new sense of empathy and insatiable lusts for flesh: wolf flesh.

Demetrius had turned for the worst, finding a place of worship for this infection in his own psychotic mind. He would froth at the thought of hurting others and eliminating those who'd not want to be infected as he was. As time had passed towards the end of the plague, Demetrius had figured he 'couldn't die' due to changes in the bacterial infection he carried and believed it to be a gift. He used this as an excuse to overthrow the leader of Undaunted and proceeded to pass on his 'gift', recruiting followers who were either too afraid to be executed or were in genuine belief of Demetrius' powers being the only way to survive. Those who refused or were too mentally incapable of handling the power of the disease were taken in for experimentation. If strength did not improve on said canine, a public execution would take place. Those who were able to escape such fate, were hunt down for sport and  captives were regularly held back from execution for these hunting purposes to keep Demetrius' pack members entertained.

Now, in present time, Demetrius remains strong in his power, but has reached his elderly state - something about his infection has made him live beyond the years an average wolf should be able to. By now, not only canines have joined this group but felines to - as Demetrius' growing followers live in hope (and insanity) to expand the infection and take over Cherika Valley and then, all of FeralHeart. The current leader has fought constantly to overthrow previous leaders and gain his position, using his fiendish ways to control his members through constant entertainment. However, in his rule, a lot has changed - no one on the outside of the pack knows if this is for the worst or for the best but, the evil of the infection remains and so does the insanity of the pack's members. Where they go, destruction follows.

In this apocalyptic roleplay, there are always survivors. The ones who escaped death twice (avoiding execution and being hunt down) have informed those who are yet to face this dangerous group, leaving Deicide to lead a pack in maintaining the sanity that remains in FeralHeart. With hope comes dedication, meaning that this second pack is in search for a cure, or a way to completely eradicate the group that stands as a physical representation of evil. This growing group calls themselves Purissimo. The infected pack, now known as Infectio after Demetrius overthrew the previous leader and renamed it, are well aware of this growing group of survivors. In knowing this, the infected are moving at a rapid pace, passing through Ficho Tunnels and Eastern Pass to decrease the chances of survivors and other groups working together to take down the evil they possess. Currently, they've been failing, but the future remains unforeseen..

    We Are:

      • Mapped

We use a map so that, in the future as the plot continues, the two packs will not be interfered by other groups during battles and encounters incase we're using up their territory. This map is especially fitting due to the fact that it has an area obvious for the evil in this roleplay, as well as space for the survivors to travel. The download link will be provided to all members in our Discord server, as well as any assistance required to those having difficulties (such as Mac users) or have never downloaded a map before.
Credits for this wonderful map goes to
      reclusive-foosh on deviantArt.

      • 2-Pack
The roleplay itself is of an apocalyptic theme. Therefore, there must be a clear division between the infected (Infectio) and the survivors (Purissimo). Although in-game we consist of one large group, there are set roles and highlights on our Discord server to show which you belong to so that there is no confusion, as well as indicating how high in the ranks you are based on the gradient of your name.

      • Conflicted
Having conflict is important to keep this roleplay interesting and ongoing with the plot. This means that invasion does and will occur in Infectio's attempt to spread the plague and overtake FeralHeart. Frequent invasions also means that where will be character deaths and injury and fighting, so in joining this group you must accept that your character will, at some point, die or become infected. However, if your character dies, you are welcome to return to the group with a new character whenever you are ready.

      • Dedicated
Myself and the group Owner, Budski/Demetrius, worked very hard to organise this roleplay in one day. We spent hours making sure everything made sense and wasn't too overpowering with how the infection spreads. Although this group is brand new, we expect dedication and commitment. This doesn't mean you are expected to be active, this means that you are expected to show interest in roleplaying or communicating with the group when possible and if possible.

      • Discorded
As annoying as it is for some members of FeralHeart, we do infact have a discord server. We find this to be easier for members rather than having to visit a website because they do not have to make threads to make inquiries when not online or resort to the Proboards Shoutbox. They can instead respond through text message and receive much faster replies. In having our discord server, we have a very unique organisation so everything is easy to find:

      • Tagless
Our only requirement is that you put 'I' (Infectio) or 'P' (Purissimo) after your name to represent your affiliation. We do not ask of our members to show off their rank and position in the hierarchy in-game, you may simply put it into your bio so they can be referenced in roleplay. If you are a member of Purissimo that then catches the infection, you will be required to remove 'P' from your name and replace it with a lowercase 'i' so that the Owners of The Plague can keep track of roleplay progress.
      [/list]

      Still a WIP.
      Any questions? Ask away!

      Bump.
An invasion is being planned by the Infectio, whilst they know numbers of the Purissimo are low and the survivors are showing vulnerability. Demetrius shows much determination to finally get rid of the scum that stands between him and power over all of the land, Amorwind. If the Purissimo are defeated, who will stand in his way from taking over FeralHeart?

      Join today to find out.

You are more than welcome to join the group. I'll be on FeralHeart for the full day, I should expect.
