Function now bound to two keys at the same time
« on: September 17, 2019, 03:17:04 am »
I tried to bind the head move function to the right Alt key, and the function stayed put only until I restarted the game, now it's bound to both the left Alt key and the right Alt key. The video recorder I use uses the left Alt key, so each time I start recording, my character's head position goofs.

The question: How do I contain the power of the head move function within just the right Alt key, and leave the left Alt key empty(Or at least bound to a function that won't goof the film)?

I've looked inside the Keyboard.cfg and found this:
Code: [Select]
Head Track=184
This is also happening with the Autorun key, so I have two autorun keys, the Q key and the Y key. I successfully bound the E Button Of Doom to the C key, with the chat window toggle bound to the E key, so I suspect there can't be a key left unbound when it was originally bound to something... But I don't know what to bind to my left Alt key that I press when I film, I don't want the left Alt key to cause anything to happen in the game.

i believe there is a setting in-game that lets you implement alternate key binds

I bound the key in the ingame settings, not the Keyboard.cfg.

Each key on your keyboard has a specific number assigned to it c:
In your keyboard.cfg file, next to head track change the number to 98 and it should make it so only your right alt key pauses your head! Right now, because your number there is 184, it's combining the left alt, right alt, and some other key on your keyboard!

After changing the head track number to 98, the head move function changed to left Alt, and right Alt stopped toggling the head move function. When I looked inside the controls window, the 98 key doesn't appear to exist.

I'm not sure if this will be relevant to my predicament, but: My keyboard has a "Function" key on it, which makes some keys do different things than normal, the keys affected by the function key are/include the row of numbers above the letters, the F1-F12 keys, the Windows key, the arrow keys, and all the keys above the arrow keys, I'm not sure if that bumps my right alt key into key 184 though.

Hmm...have you considered changing the record hotkey to right alt? xD
I know the keyboard.cfg file uses keyboard key values to tell the game with key connects to which command, so I'm unsure as to why it isn't recognizing 98 as being the right alt key when left alt is 56, the default head track number in the cfg file.

Affirmative, I've done a little searching and now I've found the option to change the hotkey for the recording software. The keys haven't stopped binding weirdly, but it no-longer bugs me as it's not interfering anymore. Thank you! ^-^

This may now be locked, unless there's a way to completely stop the keybinds from acting up, but the issue doesn't get on my nerves anymore.
