Image And Text Problem

This might be stupid but when I see threads that have text in between two images, (Like the role-playing thread) I wanted to know how I do that exactly? I tried to put two URL's with the image code next to each other, but the one on the right side always appears to be below the image on the left. How do I add text in between two images, and how do I make one of them go to the right side of the thread box then under one of the images? Sorry if i'm being to confusing. Lastly, how do I make texts be closer together then when I put them in the center and they are not spreading out to far?

If you have a windows computer, just use the Snipping Tool. That's what I use. Either that or Gyazo. ^^

1. How do I make the text not be on the bottom of the image? 2. How do I make the text more close  together like this one? 3. Such as this, anyway to make it smaller like the 2nd one I posted?
